  • Weel i consider the final work of Bach the greatest masterpiece in history of music. I listened to Bach Mass and Passion, Mozart's Nozze and Don, Beethoven Ninth and op. 133, Wagner Tristan and Strauss Metamorphosen (all absolute masterpieces) but i can't find a work of this scope and genius. My second favourite work is the Grosse Fugue by Beethoven, then come St MAtthew Passion and Tristan.

  • @vinciano While reading your comment, I was about to suggest you to take Beethoven's Grosse Fuge into consideration, but, mentioning it as your second favourite, you are obviously well aware of it's qualities :-) For me, it is a tie between Grosse Fuge, AoF and Musical Offering.

  • @pbazant Yeah the Musical Offering is another astounding piece of absolute music by the late Bach. The 2 Ricercare are overwhelming. Have u ever heard the AoF played by the Italian Quartet?

  • Doug Hofstadter introduced me to Art of the Fugue many years ago. He introduced many people to this piece.

I once had a recording of it by the Los Angeles Saxophone Quartet. Does anyone have that recording?

  • Robert Hill... such an inspiration for harpsichord players

  • Excellent piece to start my day!!!

  • @ax2mix1

This piece can begin, end, accompany you or whatever you want during any time of the day! Bach is 24/7, no problem! ;)

  • @bubblykings Indeed he is!!! Thanks:)
