I like Battlefield 3, but I can't see the enemy in multiplayer... I mean I literally can't see them against the background scenery, the camo is too good or / and my eyes are too bad.

If I see someone it's generally by their muzzle flash, and usually too late.

@reluctable Turn up your brightness/contrast in-game and it should make things show up better. Most likely you will still be using movement to 'see' them but it's better than muzzle flash.

So, they made a game where you can fly jets in MP, but then don't let you fly jets in the single player campaign. Makes sense. It's just another rail shooter with impressive visuals. Oh yeah, and it has the exciting pre-flight checklist you have to go through first.

@stefanvestergaard I fully understand TB's feeling on that mission. Having played it myself there are some positives to it but the negatives are still there. By comparison the tank level blows this away and you can directly control the tank. For me this and the mission they showed a lot of leading up to the games release (the 12 minute preview) are the worst levels.

okay, I know for a fact the only jet fighter in the world that can do the cobra maneuver is the SU-27. And those are MiG's

but the air combat is really cool in my opinion, would be better if they let you control both the plane and the weapons (but that's what ace combat is for right?)

Pong has more freedom than this, Pong is more dynamic than this - this is just an interactive movie. Of all the things they could let you do - shoot a gun, drive an ACU, fly a jet - they decided you get to be a passenger and press buttons, even though the engine is perfectly capable of letting you fly it. This is just a movie, and the sad thing is the rest of the singleplayer is just like this.

Yes - some games can get away with long cutscenes because the singleplayer is very long, or because the cutscene is has a dynamic outcome, or because it has valuable story elements. This is none of that - this is just a cutscene that bites into the already short 3 hour long campaign and your own free time, a total waste.

But do they make it a valid investment? No. Do they take advantage of what the engine is capable of, do they let you fly the jet even though you can in multiplayer? No. You don't just add a campaign for the sake of having one, it costs time and money. It has to have the quality and standards of a singleplayer game.

Fuck no, so why should it be in the game to begin with? How the hell is it justified?

Don't think anyone would debate that this isn't an interactive movie, but I don't see that as a problem, so long as there is still a choice between this style of FPS and other, "freer" styles available. Maybe company's should look to providing an option before starting a campaign to let you decide how much control you'd like over your character.

Yea that's shitty. That's how it is in multiplayer too with the flares. It's next to impossible to hit someone with a stinger after they get flares if they are even a little decent at going LOS on you. By the time you lock on again the flare is up.

Even comparing MW and BF is just silly, as BF is combined arms and MW is infantry arms - do I like MW? No, but that does not make it a worse game. @TheUhh66 Well personally I agree with TB, the SP of BF3 is poorly designed, as far as gameplay goes. TB simply criticize the fact that more and more video games now-a-days uses cinematic cutscenes or scripted events to make the game feel more "Theatrical" such as God of War. It makes the game looks better, but hurts the gameplay as it limits the players from exploiting other possibilities of this game.
