I don't see the problem other then neither of them are gonna be there for his/her graduation or be at the wedding, etc. So, I'm up in the air about this one really...
Kids are not toys! I can't understand people having children "because the want too", despite the situation. Older parents, single parents, poor parents, bad parents, uneducated parents, teen parents, grandparents. It's hard enough raise children in a normal family situation. Everything else complicates the child's life, it's like playing with fire. Look at the public school systems. Teachers consistently take all the heat, when it really STARTS IN THE HOME! So gamble with a child's life?
My dad is 65 this month & i'm 26 we didn't play together & he didn't play with my brother who is 38 this year if you're going to be active with the kid you're just going to do it ae doesn't have that much to do it.
I would say that he is not guilty. As long as you are willing to take the responsibility of raising another kid, even at the age of 68, I don't see why you shouldn't have another kid. If Robert is up for such responsibilities, good for him. I hope he can manage to live up to them. My father hardly ever spent time with me when I was young, but I was still raised well.
I was a kid and I had a friend who's parents were like 75/80 when he was ten. His father died when he was 11, which sent him on a spiral. We soon went to different high schools and I met up with him when I was 16. During this time his mother also died and he started doing stupid shit, and got arrested a few times. It's not really the money that's the issue here. It's the fact that he was old enough to realize that his parents had died, and it caused a whole host of psych problems with him.
@priscamolotsi but when it's so obvious that the father will for sure not get any younger it makes it an absolute conclusion that this child will have only grandparents not parents. but again it's his fucking life he does what he wishes and I am writing my opinion.
@priscamolotsi you are comparing De Niro's situation to people who die at 35 in Africa? you are either trying to get attention or you are just dumb. We are talking specially about De Niro and people who have kids that late in life. When his kid is 20 years old his father will be 85 and he will need to be taken care of regardless of his money that such a burden on the kid. of course there is no guarantee that any one will live that long even the child may not make it that long
Even if he was 25 years old, it's overall bad to have a kid. He should have adopted instead. There are too many selfish people out there, ruining it for everyone else.
Well, at least he's in a position financially to provide for the child. He probably had the financial means to do medical tests and whatnot to ensure that the child would be healthy. I don't think it was necesarilly selfish.
@WrestlingBC12 Its not about tha its about the health risks to the child involved by having a kid at that age. You raise the risk of down syndrome and there are plenty of other problems inherit. As to calling Cenk a dickhead I probably should have just said he sounds like a dickhead in the video but his head is shiny.
Totally guilty on this one. Everyone's thinking about the parent, ever thought of the kid? Kid's going to be orphaned as a teenager. His dad's going to be 76 when he's eight! The kid's going to be too young to attend his own parent's funeral. No way the parents could possibly be innocent here. Say the kid's so detached from his old ass parents that their funerals don't affect him, well, he would still never know what having parents would be like. You can't do that to the helpless kid.
I'm with Cenk on this issue. The guy is rich, and the child will be well taken care of, and in life in general there is no absoulte certain in health or life expeanctacy. I do see the moral side of what Anna is talking about, but you can enforce your morality onto others. if he were poor and having a kind than I would see the problem. Do people have babies when they shouldn't? Yes but that doesn't mean they aren't good parents.
Guilty! Parents that old have a higher chance of having kids with severe medical issues! Plus, like Anna said, being active in your kids lives is a huge part of being a parent. I have older parents, they were 43 when I was born and it was hard enough growing up with a mom and dad that could not run and tumble with me like the other kids my age. And like she said, it's hard that as a 22 year old, I have to care for my sick and nearing elderly parents. This is an irresponsible decision.
I never thought I'd describe Ana as a loathsome bitch until now.
How about a rich 18 year old man in bad health?Should he not be allowed to have children because he can't run and play with them? What about a 30 something in a wheelchair?
How about a 20 something woman who lives in Southern California and routinely disobeys traffic laws? One could make the argument that she might not be around when her child graduates.
As a confirmed liberal I'd have to advise her to mind her own damn business.
@ultranol1983 He's Robert De Niro. He gets the best treatments money can afford to stay young. He has an overwhelming job and he's probably healthier than 90% 40 year old guys, if not healthier.
Look at Robin Williams, he's 60, and had a heart transplant. He's got the stamina of a an hyperactive 12 year old still! I can't imagine how he got when he was addicted to coke, that must had been quite a show LOL
I think it's more about him wanting to enjoy another child, and the legacy.
@ultranol1983 I'm positive he'll be an amazing father, I would love to get to be his new son, when he actually needs to be taken care of he can afford the best care anyways...
I think that guy has some fucking balls, and a big paternal instinct.
so by the time the kid is 12 her father will be 80 and her mother will be 68. that's assuming they are both still alive. so she will be raised by nannies and other paid employees, and likely be orphaned before she is 20.
@TOTCD He plays a large part in overpopulation. His kids might also have kids, and that is too many people on a planet! The planet is already WAY overpopulated, it's built to sustain 3 billion people, there are 6 billion. Nobody needs that many children. Yes we have food, but it's food that is overfilled with growth harmones and all that shit. We're suppost to be eating organic, we can't because farmers can't grow food naturally to feed all of us. Difference between quality and quantity.
Ana, what about single women who want to have children out of wed-lock...? Are you advocating that single mothers should lose there children because there is no father to "play with the kids or be active with the kids...? Hey... but it doesn't matter... the Constitution is just a rag... forget personal liberties... what we need is a bunch of people telling us when you can and cannot have kids... yeah... real good.
So, what about single women who want to have children out of wed-lock...? No? And what about single mothers?... should they lose their children because there is no father to "play with the kids or be active with the kids...? Ana talks about parental responsibilities, yet she has no kids. Here's a thought... how about you mind your own business and let other people live their lives... because you sound like a neo-conservative.
@nsx1com swoooooshhhhhh! the point of this discussion flying above your head. At this age you most likely won't get to see that child fully grow up, is that so hard for you to understand? We're not debating wether a single parent is fit to raise a child but wether it really is a realistic idea to have one when you're practically 70....
@savas33 - EXACTLY. You want to decide for other people what they do with their lives and their families... and you talk about not understanding... so, what is so wrong with being 70? Is it that he won't be around long enough? That is exactly the point of your argument. You want a single woman to be able to have children were there is no father, but you don't want a married man in his 60's to have children. You're a hypocrite, a neo-con... leave people alone and mind your own business.
Even aside from the age, which is ridiculous, six children!? How much longer can the world sustain people reproducing at this rate? I'm rather ignorant to the topic, but it seems excessive and completely irresponsible to have that many children. His age only makes it that much worse and the fact that this child won't have a father for the majority of his life.
@StarsShadow You were right to state your ignorance on the topic cause you clearly are if you think having six kids is "excessive" and "completely irresponsible".
@MrTuraiOssa I don't think that that shows my ignorance, so much as my opinion on the matter. People shouldn't be having kids just because they can. To me, six kids -IS- excessive. And, in De Niro's case, irresponsible. We're no longer in the days where we require a large family to maintain a farm, bring up the odds from infant deaths, etc; We're living in a society of excess. If you wanted to truly point out my ignorance on the topic, you'd be showing me how having such large
@MrTuraiOssa families is beneficial to the world and how we can continue to sustain such a significant growth for an long, extended period of time. Without being detrimental to the environment, our resources, and so-on. Soon enough, India will beat out China as far as population goes. How do we maintain the world we have while supporting so much life? So yes, having six children does seem excessive to me. Especially when I'm questioning the validity of even having one child.
Talking about what he can and cannot provide for a baby is not the issue. When the kid only 30 years old there will not be a nanny to help the person out with all the things that MOST (not all) people depend on their parents for in their adult life. Whether that means financially or emotionally or whatever - it seems cruel to knowingly bring a child into the world that will spend more than half of it's life without parent figures.
@rosielove11 agreed! I think that's the main issue here. Forget the resources and the playing football, that child is going to have some major emotional and psychological problems to overcome that their peers won't. They won't have the support and time with their parents that most of their friends and relationship partners will. It will take a toll on them. Just think, no parents there to see your first children. It's a terrifying thought for those who face this possibility.
So some people who have no lives of their own think Robert De Niro is too old to have a new child. What are they gonna do--take the kid away from him? FUCK THEM. Mind your own boring-ass business.
I love that Anna is not having Cenk's "charming" bs on this! I don't really have an opinion, I see the pros and cons, but I love that the only woman on set is not having these clowns!
I don't think he should have had another kid. Think its wrong and this is way lot people shouldn't have kids because they don't think about things that are important. This way some kids are screwed up because people have kids that shouldn't of had any.
I totally agree with Anna. This story perfectly exemplifies how selfish many parents are. The act of having children is too often done for the parent's own personal enjoyment regardless of how well they can provide for the child.
I'm not a fan of this not because he and his wife may not be able to keep up, I had a parent who was a quadroplegic but she was still a great parent. However, the likelyhood of being around to raise the baby to even 18 is statiistically unlikely. It's unfair to bring a child into the world when most likely both parents could die before it reaches adulthood.
i actually agree with anna getting a women or nanny to do everything for the kid and showing up occasionally in your hoveround to say hey hows it going doesn't make you a parent it makes you a sperm donor. I also don't think that avoiding changing diapers makes you a boss it makes you a jerk for making your wife do it all.
As much as Cenk sounds like an ass here - money is under-rated. Money solves a lot of problems. De Niro can solve most child raising problem with his massive cash hordes.
I'm going with guilty on this one. take into accout he has already been diagnosed with prostate cancer, & excluding that fact if his health was well he would still only have a 50% chance of living another 15 yrs. Add onto that smoking socially odds are the kid won't have him there at high school grad. My synical assumption to this is that this decision is more driven by their selfishness, the desire of his current wife to have something when he is gone, & maybe in part for a better estate claim.
@TheTull4204 I'm going to take it a step further, and possibly fashion myself into a troll magnet in the process, but the World doesn't need anymore human beings. We're having a hard enough time taking care of the population we already have. If he wanted a kid this badly, I'm sure he could have afforded to adopt. Perhaps adopting older children, as they have a harder time finding homes.
@TheTull4204 Bro its Robert freaking De Niro, he could kill mobsters with one hand at 80 and throw a football with the other to his son whens hes of age.
Just because he is 68 does not mean that he will die soon; maybe he'll live to 90. Who knows. Besides young people die all the time for various reasons. Is Ana saying no one should have kids then? Plus if he has energy to still make movies, then he has energy to play with his child, and teach him everything parents teach their children.
Everyone here has good points. To come to Anna's defense - she is speaking her mind. But having a baby is a human right. If a soldier is going to war and never sees his or her child - should that person not have a child? Back in the day, there was a good possibility that your child might be reared by strangers. Look at Jane Erye (fictional character but reflected very real events). Some people are not cut out to be parents and send their kids away. Who else but the parents could decide?
Yall muthafuckas commenting n going on n on about Ana n Cenk's opinion just need to shut the fuck up! Damn...A bunch of bitch ass muthafuckas! Shut the fuck up!
My thought about this is, what if he doesn't end up living that long? What if De Niro dies at 70, 71? He will deprive his child of their father. Personallly, it seems rather selfish and even irresponsible. It is also a gurarntee the child will end up getting raised by a nanny, or several nannies one way or the other.
@assemblyguy I think it is a good idea to know who both parents are, then you know your history and where you came from and all that. I know my cousin had his father die in a horrific motorcycle accident when my cousin was two and my uncle (who I never met because he died two years before I was born) was only twenty. For my cousin, there is this gaping hole that can't be filled because he doesn't know what kind of person his father was, only what people told about him.
UGh, again Cenk's more asshole side rears it's head. He makes wolfpac because he wants people to give a shit about the 99% who are exploited by the 1%, then praises his sexist father for exploiting his mother by forcing her to do all the hard parts of raising a child, then further praises his father for how well he raised him. He raised you like an inconvenience he refused to be saddled with and forced other people (his mom) to deal with. Where's his praise of her for being the REAL parent?
ana " how are you going to keep up with your kid, be active with your kid" So Ana, what do you do about quadriplegics, or the blind, or the physically challenged among others? do they disqualify from having kids, or should they give up parenting just because they can not or can no longer be active. Ana, in place of age, try telling your audience you support what i just said and wait for the reaction. Yes it is an opinion but do you support it?
also one more thing for cenk and anna to think about if they actually read any of these comments. don't you realise by running a story like this all you've done is lose credibility and put yourself in the same level as rags like the national enquirer? it's pure gossip bullshit and i expected better of you all...
what i want to know is why is this even relevant? who cares if deniro wants another kid? the guy can obviously support the kid and quite honestly how do cenk and anna know what or how deniro interacts with his kids? how many younger starsn use nannies? i mean really this is a non issue and no ones business than deniros.
don't we have bigger issues to worry about than what star wants another kid?c'mon tyt you're slacking here, get back to real stories that people care about...
I won a race once and only once, I was the fastest sperm out of my dads dick, I beat millions of sperms and I hit that egg hard on sperm-faced first. Medal goes to me.
@PatriotsDomain However, another question is how long will anybody live? If we al;ways worried about death then why bother having kids at all. You just have no idea how long you will live.
What if the parent is just not athletic. You can interact with your children in more intellectual ways instead of physical ways (NB: I don't mean to imply intellectual is any better or worse than physical). How about reading to them - encouraging them to discuss films and books and art. Take them to museums. Go to their sporting games and support what they are interested in even if you don't participate directly in it.
Good Lord, if Robert DeNiro Wants 2 Have Another Child, By All Means: Congratulations to Him!! At Least He Has the Money & Responsible Proper Care for the Child...
People Should Bitch About Idiots Who Have Kids, & Can't Afford to Care For Them.
It's Robert Di Nero, not someone guy making minimum wage or who is on welfare and already has 5 kids with 5 different women. Di Nero's kids are not a burden on the public so let him have as many kids as he wants and as late in life as he wants.
Real discussion should be: not whether a man over the hill should have a new kid, but should an actress or actor reproduce with all the issues they inherently have. There some serious psychological baggage with most of these people.
This conversation is moot. He's an actor which means theres an 85% chance that he's going to be a emotionally neglectful parent any way. Its an actor and his wife who had some need to feel important and popular and sought public fame. That is a selfish sort of career. Its me me me me the entire time. So why does it surprise you when an actor at 68 has a kid. It hit him as a whim, he explained it to himself as he deserves it or he has a lot of love to give or its probably on par with a pocket pet
I have received support and criticism for my opinion that Ana should get over herself and stop judging anyone who decides to have a baby at an older age. IDGAF what anyone says because my opinion is based on the freedom to choose to have children at any age as long as they can care for the child. Ana's issue is age? so we now now Ana discriminates against age. I guess she is saying people can be too old for certain things. Oh Ana, the bubble will eventually burst and you diaper will need change.
TYT-is another name for Fox News. Does anyone else see the similarities in the way they report without having facts, or offer an opinion inconsistent with previous statements. TYT really has gone from the voice of reason to the voice of whatever is popular. and they just cannot see it nor will they admit it. Anyone who denies this is more of a fan of popularity that they are of valid information and truth.
I know for a fact my dad never ran around and played with me after age 9 and I was more than good with that -- who caaares. That's a fairytale, its the age of video games.
Ok turks this dude form jersey is gonna tell you how it is. I don't care about this celebrity and his sixth kid. I don't know why Ana is freaking out over this in the way she did. What I do care about is SOPA and NDAA. So more talky less bitchy.
Ana is completely right on this one. My Dad died when I was young, and it made life really difficult for me. He is simply just too old to have a child.
Anyone else find it ironic that Ana, the one who always passionately supports those who have different family lifestyles (e.g. gays), is so upset about the fact that the baby won't have a young father?
Children of lesbian couples don't even have fathers. Would Ana be opposed to a lesbian couple having a child via sperm bank? Of course not. Because she doesn't care about what is right; she cares about what is popular to support.
I fully support Robert De Niro's decision to have a baby.
No. That's not what she's concerned about at all. She's arguing about if R.D will be able to take care of the kid, due to him being quite old, and out of energy. She's arguing, male or female, if you're not going to be able to take care of the kid, then should you really have one.
@kourosh89 Having a father is not her point. She is talking about him being 68 and the baby is just born. It is normal to think this is not ideal as the parents will be very old when the child goes into puberty and most likely will not survive into the child’s adulthood. I agree with her that it is not wise to have children so old as the parent needs to be part of their children’s lives, male or female. That said I think he has enough money to provide for the child even after he is dead.
@kourosh89 yea he has the right to. but do you understand that when the kid is 12 he will be 80!! if hes even still alive then. the mom will be at the youthful age of 68. i think its unfair to the child to basically have grandparents instead of parents just cuz they wanted another one. with a lesbian couple there are 2 parents...in this case they could EASILY both die before hes 18. i know people lose their parents all the time, but its not planned. this is planning for failure
What difference does it make how old they are? It's just as selfish to have kids at any age. You're giving life to something that will certainly die with no guarantees on any conditions of life.
Wow! My oldest brother is old enough to be my granddad! (And in some case, great granddad)

Here's a thought... how about you mind your own business and let other people live their lives... because you sound like a neo-conservative.
nsx1com 2 months ago
@nsx1com swoooooshhhhhh! the point of this discussion flying above your head. At this age you most likely won't get to see that child fully grow up, is that so hard for you to understand? We're not debating wether a single parent is fit to raise a child but wether it really is a realistic idea to have one when you're practically 70....
savas33 2 months ago

One of our primary reasons for being is to leave a legacy. He should have as many kids as he is capable of if he can provide for them.
kjohnsen045 2 months ago in playlist Uploaded videos
Talking about what he can and cannot provide for a baby is not the issue. When the kid only 30 years old there will not be a nanny to help the person out with all the things that MOST (not all) people depend on their parents for in their adult life. Whether that means financially or emotionally or whatever - it seems cruel to knowingly bring a child into the world that will spend more than half of it's life without parent figures.
rosielove11 2 months ago
@rosielove11 agreed! I think that's the main issue here. Forget the resources and the playing football, that child is going to have some major emotional and psychological problems to overcome that their peers won't. They won't have the support and time with their parents that most of their friends and relationship partners will. It will take a toll on them. Just think, no parents there to see your first children. It's a terrifying thought for those who face this possibility.

I totally agree with Anna. This story perfectly exemplifies how selfish many parents are. The act of having children is too often done for the parent's own personal enjoyment regardless of how well they can provide for the child.
Vondur 2 months ago 25
I'm not a fan of this not because he and his wife may not be able to keep up, I had a parent who was a quadroplegic but she was still a great parent. However, the likelyhood of being around to raise the baby to even 18 is statiistically unlikely. It's unfair to bring a child into the world when most likely both parents could die before it reaches adulthood.

@theallseeingoracle So what you are saying is that a child must have a father?

What if the parent is just not athletic. How about reading to them - encouraging them to discuss films and books and art. Take them to museums. IDGAF what anyone says because my opinion is based on the freedom to choose to have children at any age as long as they can care for the child. Children of lesbian couples don't even have fathers. Would Ana be opposed to a lesbian couple having a child via sperm bank? Of course not. Because she doesn't care about what is right; she cares about what is popular to support.

No. That's not what she's concerned about at all. She's arguing about if R.D will be able to take care of the kid, due to him being quite old, and out of energy. She's arguing, male or female, if you're not going to be able to take care of the kid, then should you really have one.
Geminilion100 2 months ago in playlist More videos from TheYoungTurks
@kourosh89 Having a father is not her point. She is talking about him being 68 and the baby is just born. It is normal to think this is not ideal as the parents will be very old when the child goes into puberty and most likely will not survive into the child’s adulthood. I agree with her that it is not wise to have children so old as the parent needs to be part of their children’s lives, male or female. That said I think he has enough money to provide for the child even after he is dead.
Missyrosy 2 months ago
@kourosh89 yea he has the right to. but do you understand that when the kid is 12 he will be 80!! if hes even still alive then. the mom will be at the youthful age of 68. i think its unfair to the child to basically have grandparents instead of parents just cuz they wanted another one. with a lesbian couple there are 2 parents...in this case they could EASILY both die before hes 18. i know people lose their parents all the time, but its not planned. this is planning for failure
