  • I hope they paid the actors extra for this because if you look closely you'd notice that the coppers are also the pirates and come Act 2 you'll also notice that the Pirate Band and the Coppers are only half the size of what they were in the first act.

  • Funny

  • A great work - shame about the leading man (?)

  • He is terrific,the rubber man,and a great production.

  • job resource ....careerstart.info....

  • CONDUCTOR: I've told you before about that!

KING: No, it wasn't me, it was one of the musicians.

    CONDUCTOR: Which musician?

KING: No, sorry, it wasn't a musician. It was a drummer.

    Hilarious!

  • The policemen sound like a barbershop, which is actually quite nice.

  • Crazy I know but this brilliant performance from Australia is now on Sky Arts Channel and Im at the moment watching it!

  • The pirate king came flying out of the back and landed on his face. ROFLMAO

  • Mabel: Frederic was to lead you to death and glory.

Police: That is not a pleasing way of putting it.

    :P

  • NIce acting, but it's a shame that the producers had to resort to canned music for the orchestra. The synth music track really grates on the ear.

  • These guys are really really good

  • Pirate King: "That wasn't me, it was one of the musicians."

    Conductor: "Which musician?"

Pirate King: "Sorry, it wasn't a musician it was a drummer."

    :-) Love it!

  • Can anyone else hear a monkey somewhere between 1:52 and 1:54?

  • the other are so short. its kinda cute.

  • Excellent ! Thank you. It made me :-)

  • I love all the work in this production but really all the added material must have set the time span at around 4 hours or so. Too much.

  • Wow, great video! You should enter your video into this contest, Ewisdomtv

  • This Sergeant in amazing. He should get a medal.

  • I think the Sergeant was just a little bit to pathetic. Otherwise, that was comedic and it very well stood up to the title.

  • Good lord is he made of rubber? Amazing.

  • Does somebody know what song sounds at 0:24, please? I listened a long time ago but I can't remember where.

  • It is Tarantara from the same Operetta, it is the first song sung by the police force.

  • It's 'When the foeman bares his steel', i.e. Tarantara

  • Mabel is perfect casting

  • @Plawranc really? I was disappointed with her. She made this production hard for me to watch... she isn't a character actress, and pales in comparison to the other leads... and her voice is pretty weak... then again, I'm very picky and I'm glad other people enjoyed her.

  • im doing this im a daughter a pirate and a cop

  • In the production of this that I'm in every policeman is a female except the Sergeant! hahaha. I play a daughter, a pirate, and a policeman. Great roles for someone with alot of dance and singing expirience. (:

  • i am doing this for my school musical,

    i am the sergant.

    and im a girl!

I wanted to be one of the girls/daughters

and I get told that im grate to be him!

still i think its much more funner being a sergant.

Now to think of it, I would rather be the sergant than the girls.

It's really fun, if your going to be in this musical, and you are the sergant, you will DEFINETLY have fun.

  • In sixth grade we did this musical. My choir teacher picked me to be the Sergeant :) It was awesome.

  • wow mines was in sixth grade too

  • Wow. It's as though the movie cast someone with the right voice. This is great.

  • I was in the audience for one of the performances of this, It was incredible. So were the other shows this company has preformed.

But I've never seen the movie. Was something wrong with someones voice?

  • Well, in the movie, they cast Tony Azito. He was a dancer, and they cast him in it so they could go more into choreography. He wasn't really much of a singer, and his voice certainly wasn't the deep bass voice you'd want for the Sergeant. They didn't even go down to the F in this song. Still a good performance, just not what Sullivan had written for it.

  • Y'know, 2 of the policemen are actually females.

  • which ones

  • If you look closely, you can see which ones they are

  • ah my school is doing this this year, i'm a pirate but the choreography is so perfect to this its not even funny

  • No, they are just cowards

  • Haha, great choreography and a great chorus.

  • its a fairly versatile role, tony azito, did a good, job, and so did this guy...but i prefer tony's

  • Pirate King: *whistles*

    Fredrick:*not realizing whistle*

    Pirate King: Fredrick! *whistles*

Fredrick: *attempts to whistle* I can't whistle!

XD I Love how Simon says that!!!

  • OMG this is hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD

the main policeman is like made of rubber!!!

  • @MagicalMistoffolees i think his sute is to small. more so at the neck

  • any idea which production this is?

  • I played a policeman in Penzance at my school. I think it's funnier when the policemen are seen as cowards.

  • i love this version! jon english is so funny!

  • lol at 7:02

  • way to stay in character!

  • haha i think it was planned.

  • I love tim tyler

  • I LOVE the policemen! However, there is a great added moment right at the very end when the Pirate King hits the cymbal, and when the conductor asks what musician did it he says, "It wasn't a musician, it was a drummer." HAHA!

  • I have all three videos but I wish they were on DVD now my player chews videos. Thank you so much for sharing. Truly entertaining.

  • They are on DVD I believe. I think on the ABC (Australian) catalogue?

  • Thank you I shall follow that up.

  • they are we have the mikado and pinafore as well and they are truly amazing i burst out into song and still laugh at them they are great

  • How spooky is this... I wrote that comment 6 mths ago and tonight I got your reply. Why spooky? I have just arrived home from seeing "The Rock Show" starring a host of young and very talented people headed by ... Jon English. If you get the chance to see it do so. There is so much talent out there, including Jon.

  • hes not a good singer...but hes an incredible dancer...and freakishly tall

  • With a back-up chorus like that, he doesn't need to be... amazing! =) The best version I've heard by far!

  • augggh, those cops were excruciatingly good!

it's like: how is that dance humanly possible?!

  • Did you watch the clip of "When the Foeman Bares His Steel" yet? You should see him there. He's amazing! :)

  • I just saw that! He's amazing! :D

  • I know. I've wanted to play the Sergeant for ages now, but unfortunately I can't dance for toffee :(

  • Wow, that was definately a good sergent . . . such flexibility

  • Thats an understatement when you see his introductory song. He dies the splits about 3 times.

  • ... culty smother =D ....... hehe

  • Ha and also pied in crime.

  • Amazing how he can do all those moves and it doesn't make his voice jiggle in the slightest!

  • I love the police. They're the best.

  • ...that man has no hamstrings!

  • with cat like tread

  • whats the next bit0.o

  • "oh, it wasn't a musician; it was a drummer"

    ROFL

  • AHAHA! The cops are the best! Best EVER! Remember that! And Pirates of Penzance is the best play ever!

I know these things. I was a cop. Aha!

    That dance is damn hard!

  • Thank you for posting this treasure! It is grand. Can you maybe add some information about the production? - like who, what, when, where?

  • my god those coppers are good! bravo!!!

  • I'd love to see the part where Frederick tells the Pirate King and Ruth that the Major General isn't an orphan.. that was one of the funniest bits.

  • I"ve seen it, and absolutly loved it. It was I think the funniest bits also. Loved how the Pirate King fainted.
