  • "I think for a lot of people, it's going to feel very hard...harder than anything they've experienced in their lifetime...for a long time to come." --Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner on economic recovery, "Meet the Press," July 10, 2011

  • I'm starting to feel that way.......maybe i did waste my time. 40K in debt and no luck going on four months looking for a job and only 1 interview. My sister who graduated in 2004 just got a new job last week but she was laid off for 5 months.....so I think that's who getting the edge on jobs right now. Things suck for those of us just starting out.

Would go back to school but can't afford the debt. Come July student loans are due and I'm flat broke. Oh the joy of a college degree.....:(

  • You nailed it in regard to colleges and universities. The academic powers that be abandoned their mission a long time ago (although in their delusional ivory tower minds they still think they are on providing quality education). They just want the money. I especially liked the commentary on the wasted classes. The established business/education methods in place no longer work.

  • I got a BA in English, and I'm not doing anymore college, at least not for now. Apprenticeships are the way to go.

  • I graduated back last May with my B.S. in Civil Engineering, but no one out in the work force wanted anyone without EXPERIENCE (usually a minimum of 5 years). I decided to go back and get my master's in civil engineering. Hopefully that will make me more attractive than others, but we shall see. I do think classes in college teach way too much theory, and not practical, real world applications like you said DemCad. It was that way in the civil engineering program.

  • Exactly, how will we ever get experience for a job, if you need experience to get the job.

  • You hit the nail right on the head. Everyone is faced with the same dilemma. From what I've heard, since the economy is so bad, they know they can get people with experience that have been laid off, and we are SOL. I tell them, "How am I supposed to have/get experience when I just graduated from college if you won't give me an opportunity to gain some experience?" A lot of the workforce will be retiring in the next several years, so they will have to hire us to replace them sometime.

  • I have a degree from NYU in music, where I was an honors student- probably a quarter of a million dollar degree today. Private music teaching is unstable so I've been trying to get out of it. I send out about 50 resumes a week. Whole Foods just called me for an interview to work in the bakery (1st call in 4 months!). My math teacher from childhood- a PHD in math- just told me that she makes 1K per semester (she teaches one class) teaching math at U of MD. The tuition doesn't go to the teachers.

  • i have a BS from RIT - it took a long time to get it because i went full time at a company before finishing it - i didnt enjoy the way the 'quarter' system was going and was having trouble getting through the classes which seemingly were made 'difficult' for the sake of it ... - i did have better temp jobs after the degree, but never ever have been able to get a 'salary' over $40k since graduating in 1999. this is an engineering technology degree that required a lot of frustration and living in

  • ACTUALLY,

I have a friend who went to college, Biology major, and when she finished her undergratuate years, she was in debt around 40K (Not counting the interest!) I feel sad because she failed to attend any Med. School with low mcat scores and now she cannot find any job and she has a mountain of debt!!

DO you know how sad I feel when i see her cry!?!???

  • I don't feel sorry for them. Those are the same people who laughed at people like myself who couldn't get into college in the first place. Now I'm better off financially than them, but I don't rub it in.

  • Drealm,

How do you know that her friend looked down on people?

I admit that there are a lot of people like that, but I don't like to see people suffer.

    lilgame34,

By the way, her friend can still find work in the private sector in countries like Brazil, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia.

  • I don't know. But I've learned to accept that the vast majority of these hateful people attending universities or who have AA's, BA's, MA's and PHD's all look down on those with only a high school education.

My view is probably biased though, where I used to live the rate for people attending college was much higher than the national average.

  • Life is what you make of it. Many people don't realize that even in a lifetime. Many people think I'm odd because I'm single, have no kids, and I still live at home at 29 years old. I enjoy my life very much. I'm not gay but I'll never get married or have kids. I'll date a woman every now and then. As much as I love women, I'm also smart enough to never give them any kind of opportunity or chance to take me to the cleaners ($). lol. Seriously! Life is a game and I'm always winning it for me!

  • Living at home is financially smart. The idea of moving out when your 18 is a western idea. Actually it's more so a upper middle class American idea. And when most people start "living on their own", it's more symbolic than anything because often people are subsidized by their parents or live with other room mates. That's not really living on your own. If you look at Italy, Russia, South America and most of Asia, it's common for several generations to live under one roof.

  • I'm a young white man who voted for Pres. Obama. Despite what people think, I think he's a better president than Bush #44 was in the White House for 8 years. But, as a society, we have to always remember to watch out for ourselves in every way. I'm a big believer in prevention. I used to be obese. I was 235lbs. with a 44" waist. Now, through diet and exercise, I'm now 190lbs with a 34" waist. I haven't had health insurance for years. Many rely on the government too much. I take care of me!

  • I agree with you. Those aholes took all our money in those various bailout schemes in deceptive ways. Politicians only care about themselves and getting votes. That's the truth. I liked your marriage myth video. I'm 29 years old, have an Associate's and a Bachelor's degree from college, single, never been married, and I don't have any kids. Marriage is for losers. I'll always stay a bachelor with zero kids. I'm too independent and I love my freedom. People can't be trusted, especially women.

  • I have an Associate's degree and a Bachelor's degree and I can't even find a good paying job. I'm 29 years old, single, never married, and I don't have any kids. The economy forces me to still live with my parents. A Bachelor's degree is like the new high school diploma. I live in the state of Maryland by the way, which is kind of far from the state of Alaska. I was going to go work on an MBA degree but me going into an extra $40k in student debt doesn't appeal to me at all.

  • America is so broke that it's both sad and pathetic. Both the US government and ordinary people are to blame. In many states now, many people rely on the state and federal government to take care of most or all of their issues. Governments aren't designed to be a parent. Illegals form Mexico and other countries are economically hurting too. When construction jobs go out and go bust, many people take a hit, especially all the illegals.

  • college helped cripple my "marketability". In today's world smart ones get technical training and find jobs to make money in as fast as possible and then, maybe consider college.

  • Worst ever? People forget the Carter years. Gas lines, high interest rates, high unemployment, turn off the Christmas lights, wear a sweater.... That's what I went into out of the Air Force.

  • To be well educated but unemployed and poor must be a demoralising combination - Kids are told to get a high education so that they can get a good job - that does not seem to be the reality these days.

    L.

  • college has gotten ridiculous with tuition. then like DEMCAD mentioned, there are classes that aren't useful at all. a lot of people are better off just to go to a trade school and go from there.

  • I look at college as a massive money sink. You go in there, spend all this money, learn very little, and out you go. I just completed my second year and it's coming to the point where the whole college thing for me is pointless.

Teaching anything useful is not the main priority in the education system today. We should all know that.

  • You gotta understand, college is BIG business. Many courses and degrees are bullshit degrees. Its all about employing useless professors and fleecing students / families for everything they got. I read how ivy league schools are sitting on billions of dollars. Its out of control.

  • That's why I went to the college of life... actually I joined the army and got my ass shot at. This country was built by gunfighters and explorers. Want to learn something useful, learn to hit a man with a .308 at 800 yards... thats when having a art degree will be useful.

  • Thanks for what you do, I'm a new subscriber. I agree with your thoughts about too much theory-oriented courses in college. I would like to suggest also in K-12, we have too much memorization as opposed to developing critical thinking. I believe college helped prepare me for my career, but I learned more from everything I did outside the classroom than in it.

  • When I was in college I studied art. Considering how the world economy is going to crash, regardless of what the "experts" in Wall Street say, I don't know what a understanding of art will do for me in the new world.

  • New York is an anti gun environment. No wonder the criminals aren't scared.

  • My sister works for the post office. She says that her employer wants to cut off saturday delivery.

  • why not ?

  • But doesn't he buy his pipes from China ?

  • Who are these 39%? The psychotic left of course!

  • GREAT RELEVANT VID! Thanks!

BS in "graphics/marketing" brainwashed to "stick with it". After 10 TEN! years of odds jobs, got in med field where it's "blue collar" but pays extremely well. "Education" is nearly worthless now unless targeted to pigeon=holed specialty (dead end). Need more real world not the brainwash info that wastes people's lives. Get back to the "old school" of school. ...lot of revamping to do it seems to me. (even Jack London complained the system in 1910)! Peace.

  • Wow---"A degree in econ does not prep you to understand the economy very well". Sad. Very, very sad.

...But, yes, I laughed. Is that wrong? :)

Seriously, I recvd a degree in Finance 20 year's ago and swore I would not frame or hang it until it meant something. It is still not on the wall.

To be fair, I do think a degree means something. You spend time and money learning about subjects and you prove that you have the discipline to finish the job --- But it is NOT the real world.

    Great vid!

  • one thing many folks are not informed about when the go to college is that they MUST get an advanced degree if they wish to pursue a career in their field of study...I have a degree in Political Science...the only thing an undergraduate degree in PS is good for is asking folks if they "want fries with their shake"....

  • Yeah, but i met people with graduate degrees at job fairs in Michigan...lol

So, I don't think that a graduate degree will do a lot of good if you don't have any connections.

Ultimately, it comes down to connections.

There's plenty of people with graduate degrees who are working crappy jobs.

  • I guess all of those college kids who voted will get a chance to live with the consequences of their actions.

  • Got that right. Peer pressure sucks (In October last year everyone was garnering support for Obama. They gave free rides to the voting precincts, tee shirts, doughnut, etc to the vote.) I just got out of school and people are competing for retail jobs here.

  • The learning curve in politics is a tricky business with all of the disinformation and distractions out there. All of us have a duty to stay focused and educate ourselves so these tricks don't work.

  • We need people with engineering degrees to manufacture things in THIS country. I mean jobs for Americans, not every idiot that wants to come over from overseas and "lowball bid" us out of our jobs. This is HUGE now. And people don't know it.

  • im wondering if the higher prices in the stock market isnt inflation too....

  • The current job market will only supply a little jobs for college grads. Jobs are being lost. Why would a company hire college grads when they are letting employees go who have more experience. The only reason I can think of is employers will be able to pay the college grads less. Not a very good time to be in college right now unless their parents are rich enough to support them after they graduate.

  • I just met a guy who moved from Orlando, he had a car detailing biz that went under

  • Back when I was in college, I would say that about 35% of the classes I had to take had NOTHING to do with my field of study.

I did not go into debt. I was able to work and pay for each semester as I went. However, I ate lots of mac & cheese and chicken noodle soup to keep cost down LOL! To this day I will not consider eating either of those two food items!

    Great video!

  • IF todays economic situation/crisis follows a pattern similar to the GD (great depression) then we will have about 7 more rallies but an overall decline over a period of 2 years or so.

Increased crime, unemployment, higher food prices, etc = Its time to prepare while you can.

    Thanks for posting.

  • he's not harsh on college because the entire system will eventually collapse ! we WILL eventually go back to a system of barter !

  • already bartering ...remember folks keep it on the downlow...irs will want their share....bastards that they are...

  • I dunno, kind of harsh on college. I don't think a broad stroke on college is fair. Some areas are better then others like engineering or computers. Economics is horrible as they've been teaching what the govt is practicing. Something is wrong.

  • I think college is more then just trying to fine a higher paying job,

I would suggest taking a learning course first, it can help you find your strengths, then go with them.

The other thing I would say is think "critically", collages are very liberal places, lookout for that, there is no "equal time" there.

  • An education is something that no one can take away from you. But i believe its more important for a lot of ppl to learn a trade or get a technical degree from a vocational.technical school. than to spend 4 years in a system that hands you a piece of paper and a mountain of debt.

  • My guess is that if your gonna go to college, go for Engineering, or Agriculture. All these liberal arts studies are a waste of time and energy.

  • Yeah, college is definately not a good idea unless you have a career planned out for yourself. Things such as science, education, and law are good examples. Even in some of those fields you have to be careful, though.. teachers are being fired on a daily basis up here in Washington state.

Hope you have a great day as well!

Great insight. I really enjoy the videos~

  • Yes & no. I went to college and was prepared for nothing by the college. However, I was lied to by my teachers so often, that learning to debunk what I was being taught by doing my own research gave me a better understanding of American History (my degree speciality) than I would have had if I'd just gone with what they told me. However, in many cases, college is a huge waste of time, as is the misnomer that everyone should go to college. Some should and some shouldn't. Great video!

  • i got a friend who's goin' for his business administration and as of 08 he passed barely, guess what he's doin'? Put up a carwash! Complete waste of time,.....lol.

  • yeah, here in mexico durin' diaz-ordaz's term as pres, he deemed it more useful that students go to college/university and study a career, masters in business, accounting, law, etc.....when what the country really needed were plumbers, electricians, mechanics, etc. and it seems these guys are the ones that go up north to rake in the big greenbacks!LOL!

  • Carry a fake wallet with a couple of bucks in it and some plastic used gift cards or cards that look like credit cards. Nothing with your name on it though. When mugged, throw down the fake wallet and run. Most muggers only want your money and wont chase you.

  • Really nice video man. I think it's the system in general. They seem to just want to keep the public dumbed down. A lot of what is taught in these schools are totally irrelevant to the real world. They seem to only touch the surface of things. The best education is the education you receive at home by your parents...period.

  • Great video!!! keep it up!!!

  • I definitely got into debt but my college education is turning out to be worth it becuase I have a great software development job with a small growing company. My job was virtually no chance of being offshored and I'm growing with the company. I'm in Mequon Wisconsin and I went to University of Platteville in Wisconsin. The computer science department taught fundamentals that never go out of style.

  • I got a computer science degree. I use some skills for my SELF employment, but the actual degree is a waste for the most part if you want to get a job from it. There are no jobs out there.

  • We just hired someone and are planning on hiring one other guy. They are both out of college. There are jobs for people that are qualified. I agree with what Gerald Celente said. Only the best will prosper thorugh this. If you coasted through college and aren't willing to change your lifestyle to or do whatever it takes you won't find anything.

  • Biology is useful.

  • A basic Biology Degree is worthless..Every Big ten, twelve, big east, Pac 10.. Graduate on the average 350 biology students. Do you really think that there is some 12,000 plus biology jobs. Most jobs are in a specific fields Microbiology etc. I graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry. $77,000. I make a good living off my airframe & power plant licenses. it will take 25 years to pay this off. While trying to find a job I defaulted.. now I don't even qualify government home purchase programs.

  • I graduated 2007 accounting, now I don't have a job. If I did have a job the most they will pay me is $11 an hr how am I supposed to pay off $50,000? I could sell crack I think they are hiring. People say it's "ruff" out there but it will get better, I am fucked for the next 30 years.

  • Like it or not, the subjects are so, so very true and really should be taken seriously b/c boys are suppose to grow up to be men, but nowdays we have spermsters not dads. What u needed for? Think.

  • subjects to tackle: a) Why would a woman need a man? b) why do men leave their children? c) Why don't men bathe daily? d) Why can't men cook & clean daily for themselves? e) Why are many men ugly?

  • Definitive waste of time, went back to school at 45 got a masters and six grad certs specializing in emergency management, by 50 prospects nadah

  • Did have a plan though used my refund checks to buy my preps, 30yr dehydrated shelf life and thirty yr loans humm i might out last this lol cause i plan on a doctorate and no repay till im 65 plus, if it lasts that long

  • I have 2 associate degrees in computers MCSE certification and have been struggling with computer jobs I am over qualified for and now have no job. I know its getting bad.

  • mcse is microsoft crap. learn java programming especially for mobile devices.

  • I think that things will get better eventually, it just takes time. Prices need to come back down on things as well. For instance the car companies are hurting, but then you go to a dealer, and prices are still way up there, so I ask, are they just being stubborn ? The money was going to go this way. I know one guy, who had a $55,000 house, and was offered a $350,000 load on it in the mail. This type of thing is crazy, and why we are in the trouble we are in.

  • It is of outmost importance to earn the money you need to live. Beyond that, I think that the meaningfulness of your job is more important than how much money you make.

  • great stuff...keep it up!!

  • Is philosophy a waste ?

  • yes, i got a BS in construction tech. I should have certified in testing asphalt, concrete, soil, i should have been certified in a lot of things. but like you said, they did not prepare me for the work in the field. I worked construction for 20yr. i got out of it to work in meat packing, for job security. love and peace mik

  • Not me. Collage worked out great. It was exactly what I needed. I have an associates degree in diesel and heavy equipment repair. I learned welding, engines, brakes, hydraulics, electrical, running gear, and even frame straightening using hydraulic jacks. They threw in enough math and science to round it all out and boom, I was ready!

I've been going full blast in this career for 14 years now and it's been awesome! It pays well, it's nearly depression proof, and I am very VERY good at it too.

  • I've had a few people look down on me and my lowly associates degree. Now I'm the one who's laughing. Every time a get a paycheck with that 32 dollars and hour printed across the front, I laugh. I laugh all the way to the bank, then cash some in and buy gold.

  • LOL, that's why I didn't finish college. It was a debt trap. Now I'm managing people with college degrees and my experience was far more valuable than a college degree in my company. Suckers!!!

  • The educational system is not designed to educate people. Is it hard to understand?

  • I think the educational system is designed for profit for teachers and beaucrats above them and to spread propoganda to kids. Education used to be totally private many years ago in the u.s

  • That's the way I've usually learned a skill. Hands on.

  • And, the more they expand the "economy", the deeper in debt we will all get !!

  • For a topic, i woudl liek to suggest (and im not joking):

    Is WORK profitable ?

As a species, the more th eworld woprks togetehr, the less we profit. We spedn all day working and working, and there just isnt any reason. You only have to lose 1 job, and you suffer hugely. I know, ive lost loads (lol).

But if 350 million americans can go broke, and owe trillions, wouldnt you have been better off just staying at home, and feeding yourselves, instead of going to work ?

    And us Brits !

  • One think about your channel - keep on being real, and don't sell your opinions (and subscribers) to advertising. I know you're in this to get your voice heard, and to help educate people about reality, and you're doing a great job at that. Keep it up man!

  • Second wave of unemployment? Yeesh, there's really not a lot of people working as it is! :(

College is barely better than the propaganda taught in elementary school, or the crap "taught" to grown adults via the mainstream media, and hollywood. The knowledge is good, I'm not against knowledge. But what you get for your money isn't much anymore, and it's a broken system. Mostly you just learn how to pass courses, as opposed to actual content that you can use in life.

  • College was a joke. I'm in the graduate program and I still feel like it's a waste of time, although it doesn't feel AS bad as my undergrad was.

  • REQUEST.....If you guys (or gals) have any ideas for topics...please let me know. I want to rock the boat a little.

I guess I want to talk about some social issues before the economy completely collapses and dominates the channel.

  • Such irony and dark humor.

When that one student said that an economics degree doesm't teach you abou the economy. So True. Yes, Universities and Colleges are companies like any other company. To make money and generate revenue. Rising tutitions, rising text book prices, rising rents on dorms, rising fees One thing I learned some teachers write or co-write books and new editions for students to buy when they take their classes. Commissions galore.. No using used textbooks.

  • I got a doctorate. I don't make as much as I expected, but I make as much as a good electrician (only I have student loans to pay off). It doesn't seem that an undergraduate degree does so much for your career.

  • The Financial Times, May 18, 2009:

Brazil and China will work towards using their own currencies in trade transactions rather than the US dollar, according to Brazils central bank and aides to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Brazils president.

The move follows recent Chinese challenges to the status of the dollar as the worlds leading international currency.

  • oh shit

  • Yep, China is making a bid, I heard, to be the new reserve currency holder. Where does that leave the US? Up to it's eyeballs in debt with no more IOUs to make the mortgage payments with.

Hyperinflation is inevitable, the very moment that the US currency ceases to hold reserve status - a reality not far off as pressure to get off the dollar continues to grow.

  • china is borrowing money all over the world using its massive t-bond holding as collateral. they are buying real assets. they are buying up 70% more copper than they can use. they are stocking up strategic reserve on oil, metals, and other commodities. they are shifting risk of the collapse of the dollar and t-bond right back to the U.S. very smart china.

they just double their gold reserve. this means they are prepare to turn their currency into the world reserve.

  • No doubt China is making a play for all the marbles, and it looks set to win this game. While the US burrows ever deeper under a mountain of debt, China is building and buying up real assets.

China's increasing gold reserve could signal either a complete lack of confidence in the dollar, a desire to replace the US dollar as the world's reserve currency, or both. I'm thinking both.

This will be devastating for the US economy. Debts are meant to be paid.

  • I just graduated from school in march and I cant get into my field........smh

I had a few people tell me nobody isnt hiring new programmers now..........

  • what programming language do u know very well? c, c++, c sharp, java....

  • College was a complete waste of time for me. I have both a bachelor's and a master's degree and I lost my job a while ago due to cuts in my field. I can't find a job in my field at all. I am now at a community college taking some computer courses and the difference in teaching there is astounding. I guess I should say..4 year colleges are a waste of time. If you want to actually learn with application based material..go to a good community college. Go into something in demand as well.

  • What are you doing at college, can you buidl websites ?

I build my own eshops. It started off slow, but os growing slowly. I offered to make demcad one, but he seems to think that if he links this tube channel to his website he will be morally letting people down. pity, cus he could earn loads of an eshop, with no investment at all.

  • No, I simply don't want to ruin one of my favorite hobbies by turning it into a job.

  • ok !

You know im not happy about it tho !

  • Did you hear that people? Don't ruin your hobby by turning it into a JOB! Wise words man.

  • College is not a waste of time. However, some classes i had to take I could do without. College tuition is through the roof and now a days you need 40k to finance your education.

The problem is when you are ready to enter the work force the only jobs out there are "service" related, low paying jobs.

  • I graduated with a bachelor of science degree in computer science. Although I took out loans and basically used that for spending free money because my education was paid for by federal aid, I feel I do wasted my time and just got in debt. I work for myself now and feel I wasted my time. Although I run websites and do use some of my knowledge from computer science, it doesn't take a CS degree to do what I do, just creativity and hard work.

  • Yeah the job centers suck at colleges.

  • Fairly old studies suggest that experts are no more accurate at detecting deception than any of us. However, experts are 100% more confident about their ability to do so.

  • college isnt a TOTAL waste but its all about the old story "its not what you know but who you know". Therefor, even if you cant one of those unioun jobs with fat retirments your children will benefit. Only because they wouldnt be "first generation" college grads. Most first generation college grads dont work in their fields or benefit i agree.

  • I am in agreement with the econ. grad. I have a B.S. in Marketing, and, while I received a good education, the Federal Reserve system was not offered as a class, as I recall. I remember the Chairman being praised by the head of the Marketing dept. That would have been useful information.

  • great topic about the college education. Thanks for bringing it up.

  • IMO, the only things worth getting a degree in right now is in agriculture or the medical field.

  • I graduated college two years ago, and I haven't been able to find a job that actually has anything to do with my degree. I don't feel that going to school was total waste, because of the knowledge I gained, but as far as furthering your career, these days that degree is just a piece of paper.

  • Unemployment leads to less consumption. Less consumption, less production. Less production, more unemployment. Unemployment leads to less consumption........ What breaks this cycle? Exporting, other booming or new industries, practical government intervention. Exporting? Where too? Synchronised depression. Booming new industries? Nope. Practical government intervention? Printing mad money to bring on hyperinflation. We're f*cked.

  • Bob Chapman may have a point re:tarriffs for China, etc. Reasoning is it will no pay countries or US ppl that use them. Therefore jobs back to US.Nancy has big power! She cares less what we think.

  • Any college can be a waste of time if YOU let it be. When you go to college you are supposed to be an adult. You make your own decision what to major in and which courses to take. A degree even in a field which is not in high demand can be worthwhile if YOU apply yourself learn as much as you can. The school gives YOU the opportunuty. It is up to you to make the right decisions. I am a physician in DEMCADS home town of Flint. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!!!!!

  • So are you arguing that the all of unemployed people in this country with college degrees are unemployed because they didn't make the right decisions?

  • It is not the college degree that made them unemployed. To say college is a "waste of time" is not the same arguement. The college degree gives them a better opportunity to become re-employed. Personal decisons as far as where one choses to live, the job they choose to take, the life they choose to lead have more bearing. Unemployment is inevitable and very sad thing but the choices we make can allow us to move on dwell on the past. Times are tough but we have to help each other and ourselves.

  • I work as a online course admin for a 2 year college. Our online course enrollment is the only thing that is in the black right now. On site enrollment is down across the board. I've heard several advisers state that finding a job for new graduates is tough right now. Fewer seniors are retiring and the job market is flooded with persons with 10,20, or 30 yrs experience applying for the same jobs the new graduates are. Competition for good jobs is fierce.

  • college doesn't work between you and me i lie about my grades. ssshhh don't tell anyone.

  • College was complete waste of time for my business degree. The only degrees worth anything now are engineering and agriculture/ vet science. Medical degrees are iffy because the incentives are being pulled away from anybody considering the field from malpractice, universal health care/ medicare, gov't intervention. You can make money but it won't be like it was before

  • College? what a waste.

Sounds like boxing is getting more POPULAR, SWEET!

  • I dropped out of college and I make 4,000 a month working 30 hours a week. Self education is far more powerful if you have the discipline.

  • youre a jerkoff, go jackoff some more.

  • Don't go to college. Work for yourself. Create a consumable service company. I don't care if it's mowing lawns. If built around a solid business plan it will yield huge profits with low overhead. It takes years, but works. My best friend is a doctor, we make about the same amount of income. But I stay home and answer calls and book work. He spends 50 hours a week away from his family. I have 0 company debt, he still owes 130,000 in school loans. He is miserable.

  • what does "living on food stamps" mean? Is it charities giving food to poor people? We don't call it food stamps. We had food cards during communism but they were ment to prevent people from buying to much.

  • Food Stamps is a Government voucher program for food. Its a card that is credited with a certain amount of dollars that varies depending on if its a single person, a family of 3, a family of 5 etc. You purchase food at the grocery store and use the card like you would a debit card or credit card. The total is deducted from the balance on the card.

  • That kid from Oregon State was probably taught Keynesian propaganda as "economics".

No wonder he says he doesn't understand the economy.

  • Yeah, a degree in political science is useless. He would have been better off volunteering for Obama.

  • Most of the people I know who got a college degree can't even spell! I did get an MBA and it helped to a point, and I stayed debt-free, but I didn't want to do what was offered to me -- public school teaching, which would have FORGIVEN my debts! Oops!

  • I have 2 college degrees and cant get a job in either field... I did have a job as a Network Engineer for a year and a half but had to intern for 4 months before i could get that job... Then they laid me off and hired 2 people and paid them half what i was making... Now ive been on unemployment since Nov 08'... McDonalds wont even hire me because they say im over qualified... Now im close to $50k in debt and had to move back in with my father... Our government hates us and wants us to fail

  • Damn, sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, that's happening all over the country.

  • im still in touch with some of my friends from school and a lot of them are struggling like i am... And their parents in a lot of cases..My friend Chris's mother worked for a parts company for 20 years and now they closing and laying everyone off early next year... But as far as college goes I would recommend no one go for now. Not until the economy pics up or if it does at all... unless you want to be a nurse i heard their still hiring... lol... Thx for your vids DEMCAD i know your lookin out

  • a college degree in the future will mean nothing...were gonna face a nightmare.

    Its gonna be survival

  • Stick with community colleges. They tend to be for people changing careers. It is a lot cheaper. I got a better education from my community college ed. than the university. The university education was a joke; I felt like I was in elementary school.

  • Also everything was outdated at the university. While the world was getting more computerized in the architectural drafting world, the university was back in the dinosaur age. It was hard to get a job.

  • Was this a public state university? I've been thinking private universities are better in some respects even though they are more expensive. But I agree with you about community colleges. I myself plan to go to one for some certification.

  • Yes, it was a state university system. I had some nutty professors.

  • college for me was a complete waste of time. I graduated in 2002. The market was flooed with college graduates just like me. I remember going to a job interview one time and the secretary told me that they had recieved over 5,000 applications for that ONE position. Anyway I tried for 2 years after graduating to get a job with my degree. I eventually gave up after the best paying job I found was $10 an hour. If I had to do it all over again, I would have spent my money and time on something else!

  • I appreciate what I learned in college but getting an employer to invest in my newly acquired skills is another story. I studied an electromechanical technician program. I also choose to live in Northern Ontario, Canada where jobs are scarce right now, but you can't beat the peace and quiet. Hopefully, I get something soon.

  • very well said mate

  • I would have graduaded from UC Berkeley class of 1988 but I lost interest in the whole college myth and dropped out after only 1 solid good year. I am self taught computer programming and hardware, I was a master before I was even 15, before I even went to college, so I had acquired knowledge more useful than the college would ever have provided.

College is all about that piece of paper. Not about knowledge anymore. I think the whole system is a sham. Goal has become to get government R&D $.

  • If anything is built, it's going to be related to the stimulus package.

  • yea try 60k, out of work now was making $35 an hr now finding something in the IT indistry is cumbersome to say the least. i could pay my school loans then of course now hell no.

  • all small 3 employess have seen the last of over paid wages for little no skills. I Dont know what you did for a living but thats the average most un skilled UAW workers made. There is NO one someone standing on a line making 30+ a hour wage that can tell me theya re worth it. I am a wrench have my ASE's gone to school learn how to fix the junk the big three made, spent 10s of 100s of dollars in tools, I am worth far more then some uneducated no skilled line worker by FAR

  • Point taken.

  • school isn't meant to be there to uplift us but keep us basic (pyramid).

the politians and co. don't send their children to the same school.

they learn other stuff in order to know how to rule the masses etc...

The last thing they want is a population capable of critical thinking.

If you want to get ahead in this world you better play their game or you are down (destruction of character through media etc...)

In god we trust? well which one cause I don't recognize mine in their daily action.

  • I'm glad to hear that someone is benefiting.

  • I hope you're not in debt. But I guess you would have to be in order to earn two degrees.

  • fail!

  • College got me into debt and i took an accounting class that did not teach how money was created.. They taught me the wrong shit.

  • You are preaching to the choir.

  • told you we are in for aride

  • college is a business...end of story.

  • totally agree now, i thought i was working for something but now it doesnt matter, when the economy is up the degree does matter though but only on a HR perspective.

  • colleges and universities used to be "ivory towers" of intellect and an important part of the community....now its just about the money...hmmmm just like CHURCHES...

  • college football and basketball programs... selling tickets!!!
