I like blurbs but I hate when you get a book that doesn't tell you anything about the book but has six blurbs that say it's amasing! I just want to know about the book, not what other people think!
Interestingly enough, that's the first assignment in our class called "inklings": read a book, then write an all-encompassing review of it in one sentence.
I feel so not-nerdfighter-y, but I didn't like 13 Little Blue Envelopes. Like, I liked the idea of it, and I liked a lot of different things about it, but... I just couldn't get into it. I was at like the 4th or 5th envelope, and I was just like... "I'm just gonna read what all of the envelopes say and call it a done deal."
I like reading, but I'm only at the February 2008 out of august of 2011 in your videos. And I have a short attention span, so four minute videos are a lot easier for me to get into than 300 page books. *sigh*
Holy crap! Like, 2 years ago, I checked that book out at the library, before I even knew about nerdfighting or you guys! I liked the book so much I refused to turn it into the library for a very long time, and I had to pay a fine, and I felt really guilty for robbing someone of the chance to read it, but GOSH AM I EXCITED ABOUT THIS!
P.S. I'm a little bit obsessed right now. I wonder if I'll ever be less excited about nerdfighting. I sure hope not.
A later edition of a John Marsden book called 'So much to tell you', has a blurb that totally spoils the end! Throughout the whol book, the audience doesn't know the narrator's name, whcih is revealed at the end, or in this case also on the back of the book.
I recently read 13 Little Blue Envelopes. I know I'm a little late for submitting something to the blurbing book club about it, but I only found vlogbrothers videos 6 months ago - I loved them all! Anyway, here's my reaction to the book, if you're interested! watch?v=8OxbuAOkoEU
I know this has been said many times before. But, HE HAS AND INUYASHA POSTER! I've just started watching that show. And it must be made by a nerdfighter, because it is made of AWESOME! (sorry for all the caps. I simply cannot contain myself)
Yes. I will go get that book and read it. Because I like Mureen's videos she did when John was on paternity leave. And because you guys endorse it.
While participating in a traditional book club is impossible for me, due to the fact I read at half the speed of other adults, I'd like to tell you that this vlog did get me to start reading again. Ending of "The Next of Kin" by Roger Fouts, HERE I COME!
i love 13 little blue envelopes!!! my friend showed to me 2 years ago, she said it was her favorite book and oh yeah! it was amazing... but not a favorite.
My dad keeps telling me to read Neuromancer. I tell him I'll do it eventually, but I think you just convinced me to get on it. After I finish Robert Jordan's The Eye of the World, that is.
I LOVE READING. Reading is the best thing to do ever.
Hah, I was doing exactly this at my work last week - condensing blurbs to one, succinct sentence in each catalogue record. I'm not sure if it's easier or harder to do when you haven't read the book in question.
OMG you looked like my stalker..umm i think his name is jose.. ibex.... He walks by me and says sskk skkk skkk skkk taallk taalkkk AHHHHHHHH only taller ....and older hes like 12 OMG!
I loved Maus it was an extremely amazing story. I don't usually ready books like that but i thought it was so good that i went out and bought Maus 2 as soon as i was finished. (now that i think of it, i should have just bought the version with both parts.... too late) 13 little blue envelopes is actually it my room waiting to be read as soon as i finish Inkdeath.
Heyy Hank! I just found a book called 'Geek High' and the blurb is "you say nerd like it's a bad thing' its awesome. i haven't red it yet but the title alone is just amazing.
Why does everyone thumbs-down the "first!" comments. I mean, would THEY not be excited if they were the first commenter on one of the Hank and John's videos. I'd be excited. And even if the person isn't first, who cares?! It's a simple mistake. People who thumbs-down these comments need to go watch nerimon's latest video.
I have that same problem. For instance, right now for Swedish class, I need to read "Crime and Punishment" by Dostoevsky (translated into Swedish of course). It kinda makes it hard to read anything else...
But it's not only that I don't have enough time to read or that I don't have any reason to read, it's also that I don't know what to read. So any suggestions would be nice. (Right now, besides Crime and Punishment, I'm reading An Abundance of Katherines.) What should I read next?
Hmmm... well I'm kind of in the middle of a different book at the moment... but once I get more book money, I will DEFINITELY buy that book! :)
On that note, for the next book club meet I want to suggest The Astonishing Adventures of Fan Boy and Goth Girl, written by Barry Lyga. It's pretty amazing. :)

Isn't that basically how every word is made up? Language is an invention, everything's simply made up. Had blurb not been a new word to you, you would probably not have given it a second thought. For instance, the words "squeak" and "swoon" sound pretty, well, silly too, but they're just like any other words, right?
I just got the book yesterday! I had to order it from the bookstore because they didn't have it. The bookstore is starting to get sick of me, I'm sure~
and i suppose next you're going to tell me that J.K Rowling is your BFF? haha. i wish i was an author, then i'd have all the connections. haha. you should tell Scott to make it a double trilogy. DFTBA! (psh, as if you would).
The harry potter section on scholastic (I'm not sure if americans have this, but it's a publishing company) and it asks you to sum up any of the harry potter books in 7 words or less ^_^
Soooooo....yeah. I totally read that book in one day. Well...half..a..day actually buuuuutt.....that's besides the point! When are we supposed to do our blurb?
I've been reading 13 Little Blue Envelopes today. Because I got it in the mail this afternoon!!! I love it. Can't wait to finish it and tell you my blurb.

I just got the book yesterday! I had to order it from the bookstore because they didn't have it. The bookstore is starting to get sick of me, I'm sure~

I blurb the brilliant MJ's 13 Little Blue Envelopes:
Adventure with purple & green backpack and the odd be-kilted love-muffin!
