This amp looks great, but is it good (or great?) with blues (B.B. King, Eric Clapton) up to some rock (Chuck Berry, Led Zeppelin), and finally to stuff like BLack Sabbath and MEgadeth? I play a Les Paul and it sounds good on this little 15w Starcaster, but I'm playing some bigger gigs and I need a good 40 watt amp with good bluesey sounds up to metal. Any suggestions?
I used this amp at Dawsons when I bought my Squier classic vibe tele, It was the mustag 4, quite a big one, but then some faggot bought it when I was playing it :(
Peut-on jouer sur cette ampli avec une guitare Electro-Acoustique (Takamine EG-440-SC Série G) merci de me répondre sur smalllpomme-65@hotmail.fr ou sur Facebook a Killian Herbreteau
sure a very cool amp for the price, but mic'ing it with TWO mics and assumingly mixing and optimizing those two signals afterwards sure makes it sound bigger than it actually does live in the room. In the days when you went to your local music shop to get equipment, this wouldn't have been a problem. But nowadays, that people buy their stuff online without testing it themselves, it's borderline, really.
@IAMDEWYZE I would go with this one if it doesnt have the annoyances i just asked about in this thread. The Spider III 15w amp is hated by many because its almost impossible to achieve a clean tone without a lot of tweaking. Im hoping this amp is different and defaults to what it was last set for rather than defaulting to an effect like the Spider III 15W
@Danklin24 You can get clean tones easily with this amp. The best on this amp are the clean tones. And yes it does default to the presets if you don't save your changes! Saving changes only requires touching the save button so once it's saved you'll be ok it will allways go back to your edited preset.
Can anyone tell me if this amp has any annoyances like the Spider III 15W amp where it always defaults to an effect when you turn it on? I hated that amp because it was nearly impossible to get a clean tone
Is this thing as thin as it sounds on here? way too shrill and icepicky. does it have any bottom end? how about volume for gigging? no one's saying anything about that, even when directly asked. tel us about the practicality of this amp? can we use it for gigging or is this a novelty amp?
@harlesslee I've already did some rehearsals with the Mustang I and i noticed it is pretty loud, if you want it for small gigs I guess it may be enghough. About praticallity i cannot say nothin cause i dont know what you mean with that =D, and yes it's quite icepicy, quite thin sounding, but it depends on the setting and on the intensity of that setting once you have 3 "different intensitys" for each setting. Sorry for my english, but i hope i've helped.
Good vid as usual but I do have to question the "modal" note choice there, for implying a more 'dorian' tonality the 5th fret of the B string would have been a much better choice (i.e. the major 6th), the 2nd doesn't imply dorian at all, it's just another scale tone from the parent G minor scale.
@ZaphodBeeblebrox65 while its true that the major6th is what sets dorian apart from other minor scales. Dorian and melodic minor are the main minor scales associated with blues and jazz. This is why he probably refers to anything outside of pentatonic as a dorian/mixolydian sound
Looks like a nice little bedroom amp. That was a sweet Telecaster you started off the video playing. USA or MIM? Great color, is that what Fender calls Butterscotch?
@RobChappers Hey Rob, between the cube xl and the fender mustang, if stuck on a desert island that magically had electricity which one would you carve a hole in and use as an amp whore. I value your simian opinion. Thks
@guitarprism I am in the same position as you. I watched chappers 'Practice Amp Shootout' video and the Mustang came out on top. Also played both of them. Im going with the Mustang II. Getting it next week!
@WedlakeProductions May all your musical dream's come true. For a example of what a guitar in the proper hand's are capable of check out Jimi Hendrix, 'Driving south' From the bbc session's. It's a guaranteed jaw-dropper. Have fun with the amp.
