  • hi there.. i have the same propblem with my car.. where did you get your lifters from? ive been looking online non stop cant find them

  • @peter69gstar w w w . otto. ie

  • I've got exactly the same engine and the same problem, but only sometimes at startup.. And yes it's the lifters that make the noise.

  • hi did you get this fixed, i have the same problem, if so what was it?

  • @jeppu88 It was the hydraulic tappets, parts (8 hyraulic tappets) cost about 160euro, and took me about 2 hours to put in.

  • Water pump can also cause the tapping noise that sounds like a rod knock.

  • I had the same problem, thought it was the lifters for the longest time. Ended up something was hitting one of the belts

  • @budcola678 Mine was tappets. €150 for parts, 2 hours labour.

  • i have exactly the same problem, its one of the tappets stuck and not functioning correctly, you have to replace all of them, think there is 8 in total,

  • @THUGSMOTIVATION I bought 8 of them yesterday - €150. It's going to take a lot of research/planning before I attempt to put them in.

  • Im having exactly the same problem (startup. 2 mechanics says it is "rod bearing": I searched youtube for rod bearing but I suspect it is lifter malfunction. The lifter seems to fill with oil after the startup and lose oil pressure again with acceleration: the lifter is loose or broken (: (mostly due to low oil+ gas pedal abuse)... lifter is cheap but the cost of opening engine to replace it is high for low cc , 500 € .

  • @brfr82 It shouldn't be that expendsive, don't bring it to a main dealer anyway.

  • low on oil?

  • @kirkie1210 Nope.
