It does not really matter if the Germans did this to us. We did the same thing to them just as they did to us. But more importantly, this has a lesson to be learned from. The Nazi killed a lot more POW of all nation because they didn't had the manpower to hold all the POW, soo some commander were ordered to take no prisonner or as few as possible. The America ( allies) only killed prisonner out of anger, they were never ordered to, some even when to jail because of that. I have never heard of a Nazi being send to jail because of a prisonner execution.

American POWs were killed during the Ardennes offensive because A) The Germany of late 1944 didn't have the resources to feed them. B) The offensive depended on keeping units moving forward... rounding up POWs and sending them behind your lines takes time and men away from an attack. I'm not excusing the Germans from war crimes, but there were reasons.
Remember that these where troops that had been fighting for a long time on the eastern front. They where told to fight as they did there, and so they did. harsh, brutal and mercyless.

Wasn't this meant to have been revenge for an earlier American massacre? The way I understand it Yanks were more reckless in their treatment of German POWs than the reverse, because Germans knew they were going to lose the War at this late stage, and were going to be punished for any crimes they committed anyway so they treated Western Allied POWs well generally with some exceptions (revenge killings of downed pilots from bomber crews etc).
This is most likely how it happend. But of course the winners write the history... I bet the yanks would have done the EXACT same thing if this scenario occurred and it probably did more than one time... Infact there are several reports of killed german prisoners of war by the hands of yanks, russians and the english.

Thanks for posting, love this movie. This film was shot with under a $1 million budget on a ranch using reenactors - an amazing feat. The King Tiger tank mentioned at 6:34 is actually a model - seriously. It's a 1/32 scale model sitting on the hood of the halftrack in the foreground with actors walking far in the distance to make it look like they're walking up to the tank! VERY cool trick and it's explained in the DVD.
6:34 watch the upper left corner, you clealy see a King Tiger there. As much as you can see from there its in the rigth sitze and does look pretty original. But strange is, there are only 11 original King Tigers left on this planet, from those only one is in America, Patton MUseum of Armour and cavarly - Fort Knox. And I dont think the producers had premission to use that tank XD Would suprise me if they had.

The Nazi killed a lot more POW of all nation because they didn't had the manpower to hold all the POW, soo some commander were ordered to take no prisonner or as few as possible. The America ( allies) only killed prisonner out of anger, they were never ordered to, some even when to jail because of that. I have never heard of a Nazi being send to jail because of a prisonner execution.

People here are retarded if you think that because a handful of Canadian, British, French and US soldiers shot German POWs out of hand that this somehow puts Nazi Germany and the Western Allies on the same moral level. The Allies had a few bad apples like Dresden, but organized genocide, looting, slavery, mass beatings, shootings, murder reprisals against civilians, forced labour and death camps were not official policy like they were in Germany.

American POWs were killed during the Ardennes offensive because A) The Germany of late 1944 didn't have the resources to feed them. B) The offensive depended on keeping units moving forward... rounding up POWs and sending them behind your lines takes time and men away from an attack. I'm not excusing the Germans from war crimes, but there were reasons.

Absent other elements, as dastardy and cold blooded as what these krauts did to our boys, this might fit an exception. Still, take notice, in the end we still fudged them all the way back to Berlin!

Wasn't this meant to have been revenge for an earlier American massacre? The way I understand it Yanks were more reckless in their treatment of German POWs than the reverse, because Germans knew they were going to lose the War at this late stage, and were going to be punished for any crimes they committed anyway so they treated Western Allied POWs well generally with some exceptions (revenge killings of downed pilots from bomber crews etc).

Thanks for posting, love this movie. This film was shot with under a $1 million budget on a ranch using reenactors - an amazing feat. The King Tiger tank mentioned at 6:34 is actually a model - seriously. It's a 1/32 scale model sitting on the hood of the halftrack in the foreground with actors walking far in the distance to make it look like they're walking up to the tank! VERY cool trick and it's explained in the DVD.

6:34 watch the upper left corner, you clealy see a King Tiger there. As much as you can see from there its in the rigth sitze and does look pretty original. But strange is, there are only 11 original King Tigers left on this planet, from those only one is in America, Patton MUseum of Armour and cavarly - Fort Knox.
