Great job! I used to build Airfix 72nd scale models and the markings reminded me of those on the Spit & Mossie models... That gave it away for for me. Like someone else mentioned the JE on the Spits was actually the personal markings on Johnny Johnson's mount (JE_J) although I did noticed that some of them had different letters... Kudos!
This is some seriously fantastic craftsmanship! The animator should have been hired by George Lucas for the forthcoming Red Tails, whose CGI looks wholly unrealistic by comparison! (Wait-you're going to tell me you DID work on Red Tails? lol )
Nice animation, and it looks so real. only thing that would improve it is the squadron markings on the aircraft. All the Spitfires had the markings fo Johnny Johnston's Spit JE-J.
excellent job on the cg man beautiful work , my dad does the same stuff cept for submarine things for the us navy[ if you want to check it out go to fxmodels.com ] beautiful stuff man awesome!
i dont think it is real.. look at the taillight at the end.. and the landing is just a little too smooth to be real.. plus noone wold stand under the wing of a landing aeroplane to film it. Absolutely brilliant animation.. id love to see it in high def
Wakey Wakey Open your eyes, it's the real thing. what's up with u dudes? these are BACK-SCENE TAKES from 633 Squadron and the Battle of Britain Films in the Sixties. COME ON what's up with u lot? WAKE-UP!!!
wakey wakey open your eyes it's the real thing, whats up with u dudes? these are back scene takes from 633 squadron and the Battle of Britain from 1966 -1969 come on what up with you lot?
I'd like to know who actually made this video. I haven't read all the comments yet , so maybe it's in there....but IF this is CGI , the work is the best i have seen to date. Can someone list the actuall creator's name here please?
Alright its time to settle things, for those of you saying it's fake take a look again. There are no more airworthy Mosquitoes in the world, much less four if you look closely at 0:37.
cool and alanhudsonesq is my grandad i agree with him cya great film i mean i would want to watch it a hundred times and my grandad always watches world wars and titanics and eroplanes cool stuff
I am very impressed with the quality of this 'animation'. It looks very 'real' to me, I wish I could create movies like this! I would dearly like to see some more. I love the mozzy and spitfire. This just brings it back to life - amazing.
i am astounded on how well you guys did that! a big pat on the back.did you know they are remaking the dambusters.mel gibson in it,directer is lord of the rings mr jackson.you should help him,get some mosies and spits in it.
The only give away is the prop discs are not as defined as they were in real life. Just about all marques of Mossies had yellow warning tips which created a very visible circle around the spinner.
But thats just being picky . . this is still superb.
Of course its not CGI. It's 16mm cine footage of the farewell of piston engined planes from 4 squadron before they were replaced with vampires in 1950.
It's CGI, like what Pixar does to make movies with, this is showing what CGI can do. It's demonstrating how CGI aircraft can be put in movies, and most times you wont notice it.
this isnt computer generated this is reallife

utterly brilliant...i thought i was seening the real deal for a moment..

Definitely not CGI work EXCEPT for maybe adding in some of the background planes that are far off in the distance and hard to see at all.
It's nice footage though :)
bwtlwolverine 3 years ago
Yeah, I'm pretty sure none of it is CGI. Why would someone claim it is?
bwtlwolverine 3 years ago
I wouldn't be so sure of yourself, eyes can be tricked easily.

The is great, the first 10 seconds are superb. Especially at 00:05, looking down on the spitfires/Mosquitos banking from right to left.

If you want realistic German aircraft get hold of IL2"Forgotten Battles" and fly almost everything, and some aircraft no one's ever heard of.
