in the interview before this show the band did say that they hadn't played a show in 1 year and 2 months. I'm sure that also had something to do with davey's voice cracking.
He never had surgery. And the Head Like a Hole cover was AFTER that and his voice was perfect, like in the STS era, so his "new" voice is that way because he wants it instead of because he needs to sing that way.

Sure, the show wasn't great, and yes, they did play (nearly) all singles, but what can you expect them to do? They haven't played a show in over a year, and it was really awesome of them to come out of the studio and play, knowing full well that they weren't a hundred percent. Plus, they looked like they enjoyed themselves, so that's all that matters, really.
I think we could extend them a little grace, don't you?

He did have a surgery to remove a cyst after Sing the Sorrow, so ever since its not the same.
And really, they've been a band for around 20 years, and a hardcore one at that, gotta hand it to him.

That comment is full of fail.
He never had surgery. And the Head Like a Hole cover was AFTER that and his voice was perfect, like in the STS era, so his "new" voice is that way because he wants it instead of because he needs to sing that way.
Do a little research before you make a fool out of yourself.

In any case, I think afi is a great band, and I'm a huge fan of them.
I'm not saying his new voice is bad, but his live voice obviously isn't as good as it used to be. IMO

yea ive seen alot of performances where they have been great and awful. like at 2:34 in this video he has a terrible voice crack. its seems like his old songs are too out of his range now. like he always sings girls not grey in a lower octave than its supposed to be in cuz he cant sing it how it should. but i mean its just cuz of the two decades like u said. i mean it happens to every singer. and yes i heard the same thing about the cyst so i do believe ur correct. wikipedia that shit haha

My favorite album of all time.
Hopefully the new one is better than DU
and somehow as good as STS, but I doubt it

Sure, the show wasn't great, and yes, they did play (nearly) all singles, but what can you expect them to do? They haven't played a show in over a year, and it was really awesome of them to come out of the studio and play, knowing full well that they weren't a hundred percent. Plus, they looked like they enjoyed themselves, so that's all that matters, really.
I think we could extend them a little grace, don't you?

I expect them to play their fans' favorite songs and not the posers' favorite songs.
During the Five Flowers Tour, in April 2006, they had 2 years and a half without playing a single show. And that tour was fucking amazing.

It was awesome of them, but don't think they did it for charity. They obviously payed them a good ammount of money, so it's not like they did us a favor.

And yes, I do agree with you that it was a mediocre at best show, but they get enough criticism from haters and it's just hard to hear it from fans, so that's all that I meant by it. His voice cracked every single song. I am sure it's because of his inability to hit high notes properly nowadays.
I don't know why people keep saying this show was great; Davey's voice was mediocre.
