  • There is a easier way to test the EGR valve if its leaking without the pump spray. Press the EGR spring down, use the flesh of a finger toblock the valve intake and release the spring. Take note, if the spring stays then the valve is good. simple ^^

  • Vacuum entering when throttle is open? Doesn't make sense to me seeing as how air would enter through the throttle body which would mean no vacuum.

  • I can tell that you are passionate about your craft. You are very precise and knowledgeable. Many mechanics should come and take your training course. I wish I could bring all my cars to you. I have no doubt the issues I am having would be over once you worked on my vehicles.

  • i wonder if who ever worked on this and knocked out the plug to set the idle if that was done to fix a rough idle or maybe a stalling issue at times ...so everything might work like the egr valve but i wonder if the valve had carbon build on it..and would not close all the way so this wood cause a rough idle and someone not knowing the valve might be dirty and not seat correctly just upped the idle to compensate for a stalling , or rough idle situation

  • My sisters geo had a EGR problem, the dealer wanted $600 to fix the problem.

I did some test's and found out the EGR solinoid was giving full vacuum at idle.

It did not matter if you unhooked the solinoid or had it pluged in, it always had full vacuum.

I went and got another EGR solinoid at a junk yard and it fixed it and her car passed the emissions test. The part was Only $5 bucks! :)

  • great video and explanation, i have a 1981 nissan datsun 720 carburetor, and it has rough idling, and at highway speeds it feels like it gets sudden surges in acceleration, so i'm thinking that it's the egr valve or the ported vacuum switch, do u know how i can test for this? thanks very much

  • good job

  • Dear Sir,

The way you explain things, should be a standard worldwide!

this is how it should be done, thankx very much.

  • A lot thank u guys

    Allah bless u guys

  • This is a real education, thank you

  • SO HOW MUCH VACUUM IS NEEDED TO ACTIVATE EGR AT CERTAIN RPM?

  • whats the top speed of those

  • i personally think you need to get a nobel price for mechanics, very professional explanation, saw all videos and i am VERY impressed of the quality of your work.

  • my respect man! I enjoy watching how you actually SOLVE the problem! I wish I know mechanic like you nearby.

  • and, any shop would have replaced the whole throttle vs adjust. actually, the labor really is the true cost & know how..hmmm, good catch, real fix

  • nothing awesome about a heated can without air conditioning, no radio, or cup holder..lol.

  • ok, thanks, its not a problem, i didnt think so but i thought id ask, thanks again !!!

  • is that throttle with the adj. plug pulled out alright still or does it have to be sealed with that plug to work right ?

  • It's pretty awesome that you have access to postal trucks! haha

  • So someone tried to raise the idle?
