Compared to the Virginia Tech Massacre, the gunfight at the O. K. Corral doesn't seem so bad. It actually seems like a much better alternative.

As soon as someone puts a gun in their pocket they open themselves up to a whole new set of liabilities and responsibilities. When you obtain that permit you understand that you are accepting the responsibilites of a permit holder and you are doing so for the express purpose of deending yourself in life-threatening situations. As one pseron put it "i'd rather be tried by 12 then carried by six". In a sense that is the way it is. A permit does not make you immune from criminal or civil liability

I just thought of something. When did a cop ever shoot a gun at a mass shooting? I don't think a cop was ever the reason a mass school shooting ended.

There was the off duty cop at the Trolley Square Mall in Salt Lake Feb. 2007, that shot at a shooter that killed 5. But since he was off duty he broke the law(mall rule) by carrying a gun in a gun free mall.

I find it tiring anti-gunners rehash this "OK Corral" episode. Fact is, gun fights just don't break out because you have multiple guns in proximity to each other. It's not really like putting a dead chicken in a gator pit. CCWers train to know when to intervene. CCWers train to become proficient in marksmanship and tactics. Antigun folk like to think things just go willy-nilly outo f nowhere. They refuse to learn otherwise. If they did, it would kill any argument they have against guns.

One of the great misconceptions about CCW is that you pay the money and get the permit. The course I went through really made you think about the responsibilities of carrying a firearm. There was also the performance and safety training. Anti-gun people just seem not to understand this. I saw someone go through the course and decide not to carry because of the possible liabilities.

The logic of the anchor is not flawed, and you can't call it wrong. The police officers in this country do a great job, but it's not their job to protect everyone all the time; it's just not feasible. If the anchor wants to ask the mugger to wait for the police before actually mugging him, that's his deal; it's not mine.

I *ALWAYS* carry something to defend myself with. I do my part to ensure my safety, and that of those around me.

I don't start fights, but I'll always finish them.
