I believe the heater is same stuff as the "hot spot" handwarmers. The bodywarmer version is the same size. We heated food with those while hiking. They get to about 70 celsius whitch is a good temp for food. It wont actually boil anything. The handwarmers and bodywarmers last longer, for about 5-8hours but are slower to heat up to the max. It takes about 15min to get really hot. We used a fabric to to contain the heat (t-shirt or such). Works also.

NOOOOOOO FLASHBACKS!! Lol MREs are fun until you can't use the heater because you're stuck in a foxhole....but they're *a lot* better than they used to be! And I'm always a fan of the boneless rib as long as it's heated....plus the fun thing is to experiment and to mix and match. Then you can take the coffee and just a cap of water to create a shot, peps you right up.

And the omelet does taste like barf.

I had this one last week, it was excellent. I've had three MRE's so far and I've developed quite a taste for the cheese spread already :D

The beef ravioli was excellent, the crackers quite tasty, everybody loves pop tarts, the beverage was so-so, caffeine mints gave me a great buzz... only thing I didn't like was the jerky.

That looks so small, cause the food kit i've had was relatively big, alhough it contained much more stuff. Sugar, chocolate, small tins of beef, hotchoco & coffee, dry porridge, tins of soups or even spaghetti bolognese (personal favourite), crisp bread (great snack with a lot of energy) energy drink powder etc. Soups and porridges are meant to be mixed with water and cooked in individual mess kits (on fire or using the stove in a tent during winter) or in "trangia" type setups.

I had this entree but it was in a SoPak Co civilian MRE and man it was the best. It was better than the canned kind. The secret to this one is that you need to heat it up so the whole meal is hot. I could tell that this one was still a little cold. I also had the Beef Roast with veggies and that one wasn't to bad either. Both were very good.

Don't know if they still make the Beef Strganoff one but tried that when my cousin came back from Iraq he had a couple MREs still on him, but that one was pretty good. Loved the cracker thing that was included, didn't taste like a saltene to me it had a bit of a sweet flavor. Great vids and thanks for the website info.
