Start with this: Lo, M.W., Williams, G., et. al., "Genesis Mission Design," AIAA Paper 98-4468. The crash was simply a mechanical error, not a design error, and it could not have been fixed midflight.

The commentator said clearly that the Genesis capsule was 60 inches in diameter. Considering that the image was being photographed from a considerable distance using a powerful telephoto lens suggests to me that this was not an object that was 5 feet in diameter - I vote UFO

I have never seen any satellite that stayed mostly intact after an impact like that. Look at the Genesis satellite off the NASA website. I call BS. Since when is not using the oceans as a crash zone an option vs Utah using helicopters to catch it midair (yes, that was their plan.)? What could it be? Probably an experiment that flew like a rock. 8 cameras fixed on same area, some of NASA's clearest video, hell the Space shuttle isn't covered that good. I say black project fail all the way.
