  • Too bad that Oliver & Company didn't come on VHS in 1989, it came on VHS in 1996 instead, but Oliver & Company was a good Disney movie tough.

  • @Emilyhoward907

I know dude, when the movie came out originally in theaters i saw it as a kid and saw it 3 times and had the merchandise including the Mcdonald stuff to all the way to the soundtrack. I was waiting for it to come out on video the next year as i wanted it and no such luck for 7 years but lucky it did came back to theaters and finally on video as i added it to my collection, i still enjoy the film for nostalgia and the soundtrack by Billy Joel and Huey Lewis is awesome.

  • Does the 1995 VHS also have the 1985 Walt Disney Pictures logo too.

  • @bloodshotclam do you only ask questions you already know the answer to?

    No disrespect meant, just curious

  • @GORSKIED I have autism, so I know how ask questions.

  • @bloodshotclam wow, guess who feels like an asshole now =)

  • @GORSKIED Come on, I was just being starcastic.

  • @bloodshotclam that's not something to joke about

  • @GORSKIED Oh, well sorry about the questions.

  • No, it has 1990 WDP logo.

  • This is another VHS that's similiar to the 1985 VHS of my favorite film "Pinocchio", except there's a trailer for "Oliver & Company" instead of "The Black Cauldron", it's got the 1988 WDC logo instead of the 1984 WDC logo, and this has the 1985 WDP logo, unlike my favorite.

  • I loved the Walt Disney Classics logo on this one. It was my favorite one.

Cinderella is not one of my all-time favorites of the Disney Animated Features, but it does have a nostalgic feel to it.

  • You know 0:21-0:24 is part of a HV promo of Muppet Treasure Island.

  • No, it doesn't, it has the 1990 WDP logo.

  • @systemoperator The music is...the beginning of it when the announcer says "And now, let's take a look at a movie from Disney" just before the MTI trailer starts I literally heard that tambourine.

  • Oh, yeah! I saw that now and heard.

  • This is one Classics edition I really wish I had. The only one with the Oliver & Co. preview I do believe.

  • @levanyzzuf Yes i sure do think so because that trailer and that 1988 walt disney classics logo was before the wdp logo and the start of the movie cinderella.

  • This is the best Oliver and Company trailer ever! (in my opinion of course)

  • I saw Oliver and Company when it first came out in november of 1988, i saw the preview to this before when Cinderella came out on video when i was 6/7 and was excited even when i saw Roger Rabbit in theaters with this trailer. I saw it november and loved it as i saw it three times as the final time was after christmas day, i had some merchandise including those Mcdonald finger puppets and ornuments, brings back memories.

  • @Johnlindsey289 I had some of that stuff too, and plushes of Oliver and Dodger and everything, but now I just have a really nice snowglobe with all the dogs around Penny and Oliver, and she's playing piano. And I have the plush McDonald's ornaments still. It's a really cute movie and also one of the most '80's movies out there, especially for a Disney animated feature! It IS kinda dated, but still really great, and with the music of Billy Joel and Huey Lewis!

  • @slave2moonlight

It is a fun movie, did you also had Mcdonalds toys too and also PVC Sears Oliver toys? i sure did. I had a crush on Jenny when i was 7, i wonder what she would look like as an adult? i was sad this and Great Mouse Detective never came to video but had my merchandise for memories but i was glad both returned to theaters. Do you think Sykes looks like Clarence Boddicker from Robocop? i thought of that when i saw the 96 re-issue when i was 14.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Yes, I had some of the McDonald's set, but all I had from Sears was the plush Dodger and plush Oliver. I remember it was a really neat time at Sears when the toy section was like a mini Disney Store, loaded with a wide variety of Disney merchandise, including a huge selection of plushes with characters as obscure as Mr. Toad and Merlin! Of course, when I see them on Ebay now, I see some did not look as cool as I remembered, ha.

  • Respond to this video... I also had a plush Elliott from Pete's Dragon from Sears at that time too. Anyway, yeah, I'll have to rewatch Robocop to double check on that.

  • @Johnlindsey289 As for Cinderella, that one is simply a Masterpiece, and Cinderella is definitely one of the greatest toon beauties, right after my contemporary favorites of Ariel, Tink, Rapunzel, Kim Possible, and Belle.

  • @slave2moonlight

Did you see the 1987 thanksgiving time re-issue of Cinderella in theaters? i did when i was 6 years old living in St. Louis on one of my last 2 months before moving to Omaha Nebraska. On Christmas day afterward, i had my mother took me to see Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night at one of the mall theaters and that scared the hell out of me. Did you also see the re-issues to Sleeping Beauty, Snow White etc. that year too?

  • @Johnlindsey289 I probably did. I saw most Disney reissues in my lifetime, though probably not all. I can't remember too specifically though, but I probably saw all of those.

  • @slave2moonlight

I had Cinderella on video as well at 7. Did you also see Land Before Time in theaters at the same time as well? i did about 2 times when i lived in Omaha and had some LBT merchandise besides O&C merchandise but LBT made it on video while Oliver and Great Mouse didn't, kind of odd and Fox and Hound never came to video too. Took them a long time to be on video, did you also see Little Mermaid in theaters as a kid too?

  • @Johnlindsey289 I actually don't think I saw Land Before Time until home video. Didn't have any merchandise either, though at some point I was given the kids' meal toys, but I later gave them away. Yes, I saw Little Mermaid in theaters, probably more than once. I became very obsessed with Ariel, actually, ha. I think I was a high school freshman at the time.

  • @slave2moonlight

But wasn't LBT a great movie? you should look up on the Robocop character Clarence Boddicker online and you'll see why Sykes looks just like him. Speaking of Robocop you should review that sometime, kickass superhero movie wasn't it? Did you also see All Dogs Go To Heaven in theaters too and American Tail? Do you also remembered seeing Willow, Roger Rabbit and Beetlejuice in theaters too?

  • @Johnlindsey289 Yeah, Robocop was really great, and I need to review it eventually. Amazon is annoying me though. Some of my reviews just aren't posting, like my Cloak and Dagger review, which I've tried to post several times, and I am still waiting for my Halloween review to post. I did see All Dogs Go to Heaven in theaters, but I have actually never seen the original An American Tail (saw the sequel in theaters, and the others too. Roger Rabbit is one of the films I saw in theaters the most.

  • @slave2moonlight

Well amazon did put your Halloween review on. But once you see Robocop again even in it's director's cut, you'll see why Sykes looks like Clarence Boddicker.

  • @Johnlindsey289 As for LBT, I actually don't remember it well. I do remember thinking it was good though.

  • @slave2moonlight

Do you think Rescuers is dated as is Goofy Movie? Oliver represented the 80's, Goofy represented the 90's and Rescuers represented the 70's

  • Funny how there was a 1988 Walt Disney Classics logo right before a 1989 and 1992 logo. It gets confusing to know what they all look like because they all look the same!

  • Why is the Walt Disney text blue intead of white? Did it just do that, or it's the quality?

  • @1happycats Beats me. It had something to do when Cinderella was re-released in theaters the year before it first came on video.

  • I had this tape when I was little. :) It was about to go back into the vault around the time I was born. I hate it when that happens. I think it's a marketing thing. Sometimes I think of getting a DVD when it's too late to buy it because it already was put back in the vault. As soon as you hear about a Disney DVD, get it as quickly as possible. I got my "Snow White" DVD right after it came out last year so I won't be late.

  • I used to have the 1988 VHS that I got at a flea market last year, but I got rid of it, because I still love the 1995 "Masterpiece" VHS a lot better, because my 1995 VHS which I had forever. This was also the first Disney VHS tape to feature the WDC logo along with Sorcerer Mickey. It continued right up until "The Fox and the Hound" in 1994 and then it makes a appearance in the 1996 VHS of "Pocahontas" while my copy does not. My copy of "Pocahontas" has the "Masterpiece" logo instead of this.

  • The 1988 WDC logo is the most beautiful logo ever made.

  • @systemoperator It ties with the 1992 logo both are beautiful bt I'll give the 1988 logo credit for being metallic the 1992 variant is creative for such unique purple and yellow colors

  • I actually have to fess that I don't think the 1992 logo is actractive.

  • @systemoperator Yeah but its from ben and me.

  • Listen, this video isn't edited, it's all real! It was also never on "Ben and Me".

  • My brother has seen Oliver and Company in theateres in 1988.
