  • Waw.... very nice... !!! thank you for playing this song... thank you !!

  • when ever i play this song, i try and figure out how the hell its possable for me to play it. @.@ Very nice playing, made me wanna go play it again :P Have you ever realized your alot farther ahead then you thought you were. it happens to me ever once in awhile. its like you hear someone else do it, but then think, "Wait a second i can play that...? wow i'm that good." :O Very nice playing, insparational!

  • haha Sorry for my last post, i'm kinda a new piano player, just started 2yrs ago, and i've mastered many songs. its just surprising to me that i can play them all and know how to in such a short amount of time. i don't mean to brag, was just saying what was on my mind. LIke they kinda say, "The internet can pull out your inner truth." Have Good One.

  • Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I might have commented on this a year or so ago, but I always seem to come back to it. By far, the best rendition of this song I've seen. So sweet and full of passion. The last low grace note sends it home perfectly.

  • Thank you.

  • @eltonjam :-)

  • Brilliant ! Bravo !

  • Great rendition...hope to play like you someday. :)

  • @doubledajay Thanks doubledajay.

  • love this piece.......thanks for playing it!

  • a jewel

  • that is very rich and interesing, I like it very much!!!

  • Hey 7note.... Do you feel that this keyboard's piano patches feel a little too glassy? Especially the "Supreme Grand", I always would use the "X Supreme" as it is much more softer for jazz.

  • I'm sorry, didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Music is subjective and it's just how I felt. I didn't demean the talent, I just felt that the song performance and the arrangement could have been better.

  • wow this song is amazing and beatiful good job

  • BRILIANT

    Abraços From Brasil.

    Marco A. Smanioto

  • So glad I stumbled on this - FANTASTIC!!

  • Since I've heard this song. I've been practicing it almost daily. WOW! This is GREAT for lowering high blood pressure!!!

  • everytime I listen to this i realize just how far i have to go! beautiful!

  • Wow!!!

That was simply amazing. I have always had a special place in my heart for that tune and that was the best instrumental version I've ever heard

  • Very cool...... nice job.

  • I love this tune!

  • Wow... that gave me goosebumps. Incredible.

  • Thx, Preseh

  • You really voice chords well and I take it you're mostly self taught, which tells me you have very 'big ears'...seems a rare thing in this day of such mediocre players. Also you exhibit a good bit of taste. It's obvious you've listened to the best and gleaned much from them.

  • Don't listen to him, 7notemode! I'm sure your freakishly huge ears are positively adorable.

  • Now why did you have to go and do that? Here I am crying again. Sure feels good though. Can't get enough! Wish I had your talent. At least I've got the heart to appreciate this beautiful song and your interpretation of same. Wow! Thanks!

  • I appreciate it. Thanks, awol1961

  • You are the instrumental Luthur Vandross my friend ! This version is AWESOME !

  • Ha! Thanks for that, taemurz.

  • man i swear if i could play 1/8 as good as u, i would be set for life!!! Your playing has always inspired me to practice harder and strive to learn as much as i can and not give up! Just want to stop by and say thanks for sharing your gifts and talents with all of your fans!

  • Thanks, KeyzLover.

  • Yes A Pdf Version Would Be Much Apprciated Please =]

  • Is there any chance you could kindly send me a pdf transcription of this recording?

    It would be greatly appreciated.

  • When I learn Sibelius :-)

  • surpassing!!!

  • Incredible............

  • O My God.

This piece makes me run to my piano to practice all day long.

    I'm not quite there yet!

    Magnificent. It touched me emotionally.

  • Fantastic. The first version of this song I've heard that doesn't kill with sentimentality.

  • Thanks, ocdwoven84.

  • so pretty. thank you for that gorgeous sentiment.

  • I would like to suggest that, in addition to making your recordings available for purchase, you create a series of tutorials for instruction of aspiring jazz pianists. I would be willing to pay for something like that.

  • This wasn't overly sentimental at all, the mood reflected the composition perfectly in my opinion. And I agree, it's a beautiful piece. Your dynamic control was superb in this :)

  • this is what its all about, truly. awesome, awesome playing. :)

  • this guy is really great inside

  • I guess it really depends on what you call jazz. OK, it doesn't swing, but it certainly doesn't take away the jazz in your arrangement. This has all the elements of jazz, except the swing. This is jazz all the way.... smooth jazz, and I love it.

    Preston

  • ohhh fantasitc Roland :D i love it !

  • good music, very nice piano playing..as well as your other videos, thanks

  • espetacular.. muito bom..... isso é música de verdade. que coisa mais linda... muito bom.....

  • You said in the description this is not a jazz piece per se. I was curious as to what you would consider it, rhythm and blues maybe? but this is by far the best arragement I've ever heard of the song. 5stars

  • dios87, It is improvised, but it doesn't swing, so I hesitate to call it a jazz style, although that may be as good a name as any. I really don't know what label it best falls under.

  • wow! you've got huge hands! some of those left hand chords really stretch your fingers. People tell me I have big hands but I'm really struggling with some of these chords!

    beautiful arr.

  • Thanks, stevecr223. My fingers stretch is more like it. You play the guitar beautifully.

  • This is really beautiful! You must have had a great classical instructor when you started playing piano. You're technique is so good. I've have also noticed in other pieces that the runs or arpeggios you use are always crisp and clean. A good sign of formal training!

  • Thanks for posting this and the tutorial. I will upload what I've learned from your tutorial

  • One of my favorites. Luther Vandross did a great cover as well. All Bacharach songs are best on the piano.

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! awesome u reali inspired me a whole lot ur my favorite musician love ur musiq

  • Very nice... I dont speak english... But... Yo me estoy aprendiendo esa cancion con los tutoriales que das muchas Gracias

  • would you happen to have the sheet music for this?

Besides that, you did a tremendous and amazing job on this piece.

  • Thanks, shonuf112. Sorry, I don't have the sheet music, but I have a tutorial up on how to play it.

  • That is how you play PIANO!

  • made my day

  • This moves me no matter how many times I watch this video

  • Wow! Bravo!

  • how did you managed to learn everything by heart? you are amazing

  • you did a great job. the piano sounds very good. what tyoe of keyboard are you using

  • Please could you provide a link for the MP3 of this beautiful music.

    Regards

  • Thanks goldensleeves. I appreciate the comment.

  • 5/5 stars for the following:

Your dynamics are like the ocean tides - so natural and pleasing to my ears. The way you go from abrupt and powerful like at 4:45 to exquisite delicacy at 4:48 is a great example of how to capture your audience.

That keyboard sounds pretty good too. It's always hard to find a keyboard that sounds really good on the higher pitched keys. Is that your favorite keyboard for acoustic piano? Anyway, great post man.

  • superb! 5*

  • Very very very good and beautiful

  • amazing tune, incredible playing, wonderful sound...i'm going to try and learn it!

  • Steve, you are so right! This is beautifully played! I found out about it from your page.

  • I keep coming back to this video! I think one of the things that makes it so beautiful is your wonderful sense of phrasing and space. I'll have to upload another video myself soon, as I'm now studying jazz and getting better!

Also love the new video of Moanin', complete contrast to this!

    All the best,

    Adam

  • Very tender and introspective. It's a great tune and you do right by it. I also checked your D dorian improvisation. I really hope you play live where you live- you'd have an audience.

  • Yes very beautiful. I've been trying to find this Bill Evans transcription with no luck, anyone have an idea please let me know.

Yes he's playing an RD700sx stage piano, but I believe he is using external software or soft synth for this particular Steinway sound, but the RD has a beautiful Steinway built in as well.

  • Wonderfully Clear and Simple

  • 4:09-4:23!!!!! Wonderful technique!!

  • this piano sounds really good. i would say better than the nord stage which is way more

  • I love your voicings

  • Which keyboard areyou using ?

  • nicely done. your style sounds familiar to my ear.

  • i need to learn to play like that!!!!

  • 5/5!! awesome!!

  • Your interpretation is amazing, every time I hear it.

  • Absolutely great. Thanks.

  • please! you wouldn't happen to have an audio recording of this would ya?

  • If you ever happen to write any sheet music to this, or have some sheet music of it...i would LOVE to get that...

  • Very nice piano playing!!

  • Happy New Chinese Year of the Rat! Are you any closer to being able to print out a transcription of this chef d'oeuvre yet? That will be a great day for us mere dilettante notation readers. Great Expectations. Great expression.

  • your a great pianist, i love to listen your music....

  • It would be great if you could show us how to play this song.

  • Yes it would, but I'm thankful for what

    7notemode has done.

  • Ah ,what Divine Beautiful playing here, have been

trawling through the "rivals" on the tube and

they just lack something you are gifted with.

One guy nearly sends me to sleep within 2 minutes ,another just plays too fast, too much

another sounds like a whole lot of junk.

  • 7notemode,

Do you teach? Or can you recomend a good teacher or school in the Triangle area?

    Thanks a lot!

  • I agree with the others, great playing , great music. I am an artist and paint landscapes whilst listening to your music. It helps me to relax and I reckon my painting is the better for listening. Keep posting.Thank You.

  • Please keep pigging out on those Appegio's and

    things,we Love them!

  • This rendition moved me...Thank you.

  • wicked!

  • I'm really trying to learn this version but its difficult off watching your fingers alone especially from that angle! If you can help me out I would very much appreciate that, would it be too cheeky to ask for a MIDI recording of it?

Then I could listen to it even more than I already do :)

  • a midi recording would be awesome =)

  • laffintunes,

I hope to have midi files up in January. I'm getting a program to export midi files soon.

  • beautiful... i'm taking piano right now.. hopefully one day i'll be able to play as well as you.

Best wishes to you in everything you do!

  • awsome pal ,loved every note

  • great playing!!!!!! Keep it up my friend

  • I really like the sparse passages in your playing. One of the standout features of your playing to me at least is that it is very expressive without being too padded or flowery.Good stuff, cheers.

  • Dude, that was awesome... *wipes tear*
