Without nature our lives on earth is nothing. Please, people do your best to support nature conservation. We need our beautiful Parrots to survive. Be a part of change and be a spokes person for our Parrots. How would you feel if there were no Parrots tomorrow? I love this video
EXCELLENT DESCRIPTION OF WHAT IS GOING ON! Thanks for all the work that you all have accomplished. It is so wonderful hearing about all the BIG WINS! Seeing the birds set free is so WONDERFUL!
A very important and informative video that should make people aware of the plight of these beautiful birds, and maybe they will think twice before caging them as pets.
Great job WPT but how about getting on the breeders as well. There are so many parrots in rescues and not enough homes already. Let's keep them in the wild and deal with the millions already bred and left behind in captivity.
I'm happy to see that WPT is finally addressing the problems with keeping parrots as pets, however, I am saddened that they don't do enough to discourage breeding and buying for the pet trade. WPT, get on board with the no breed, no buy campaign. It is estimated that thousands, and perhaps millions of captive bred birds die every year from abuse, neglect, and homelessness. THERE AREN'T ENOUGH HOMES FOR THESE UNWANTED BIRDS.
It is great job.I have parots, and she is always free.I never keep she in the boks, but I know thet still isn t enough. We must stop buy birds, and it is only vhey for solvetion.
Great video, I have a parrot and wish he could go back in the wild, but I know he cant. I try to keep him as happy as possible(I take him out like 4hours a day) and try to keep him happy.
Excellent! Very nicely done video. In my opinion, this uses just the right amount of footage showing trapped birds to generate an effective message. I have been overly sensitive in the past to the harsher photos (the raw in your face mortality rate associated with trapping is pretty hard for some of us). Thank you WPT. Great use of media. My year end contribution is coming.
Wow, Msjennwren, thank you so much for the positive feedback - it's always a delicate balance sorting out how to best use this imagery to help the parrots - too little and you don't get people's attention, too much and it can seem exploitative. We also VERYmuch appreciate your imminent year and contribution, and look forward to using your support to Protect the Parrots! Thank you very much indeed, WPT
This video makes a good point when it states that human expansion means parrots' destruction. World-wide, that's the truth. S. America and Africa need to get on board to stop exporting parrots. With education, Asians could embrace eco-tourism instead of captivity. Domestically, over-production for "the pet trade" needs to stop and sustainable long-term living centers for parrots need to grow. WPT: kudos! Always top quality. I'm proud to be a member.
Thanks Galeritaelenora, very much appreciate your positive comments and support as a member - both incredibly helpful.
While many parrots do suffer from habitat loss, we're seeing more and more cases now where parrots, if left alone, can live in harmony with people in the country, in suburbia, and in cities. We see this as good news for many species.
What an amazing video! I was in tears to see those beautiful birds trapped in cages and so happy that a few of them were freed. Did the Patagonian Conures also get freed to go home? I am so proud to be a member of the World Parrot Trust!
Thank you for your kind comments. Of course our hope is to prevent wild birds from being trapped in the first place, but when they are trapped, we work hard to see that as many can be released (with appropriate cautions) back to the wild. I'm afraid those Patagonian Conures went to the EU as this was before the ban. But that trapping has stopped now as have all exports from Argentina (which were over 50,000 parrots per year). Thanks again, from WPT
