@082076 No! It is Great explosions and star wars spoof. This new movie has only the eye conic elements of Star Trek in it but it has nothing in it that made a star trek story star trek. The story makes no sense and is full of gaps (AKA plot holes), the characters are all wrong and the humor juvenile at best (at worst insulting to people with medical conditions, farmers and minorities). This is a very BAD BAD BAD movie!
@NonstopRam A person is only proven right when he has facts backing up his opinion. (small note: Facts are not other people's opinion. Opinions are ticket sales, reviews, and awards. Facts are what is in the film, what is taught in art and literature classes and history of film making). So tell me why do you disagree and back it up with facts.
@NonstopRam What is wrong with you? Did I say facts from the story? NO! Use your little gray cells (brain cells). You can focus on the structure of the story...Does it have a beginning, a climax, a bridge, a resolution and an ending? Are the characters consistent? Was the villain’s motives believable or just forced in to add tension? Did the director suspend disbelief for you or did you have to do it yourself? Excreta... It's all in film 101 and literature101.
@NonstopRam Facts come into play in every aspect of life, everything from entertainment to everyday life. With movies facts are how the movie was made to what is established as good story telling and film making in the world of art. Now stop stalling and back up your claim.

i'm really beginning to hate this trailer. Every time i watch it it makes me want to watch the film. Never mind that i've already seen it about 10 times.
The Best Movie of 2009. The Academy (Oscars) should get wise. They will also disregard Inception this year just like they did Star Trek. I know there is a lot of explosion but the story is epic.
@2012StarTrek Lets examin the story. A moronic villain comes from the future and gets his as kicked by Kirk’s Dad, but it costs Kirk’s Dad’s life. This makes Kirk a criminal, and somehow changes everyone’s age and personalities. The Moron waits 25 years to kill Spock insted he maroons him. Spock is just a walk away from a worm star base, does he go there? NO, he waits in a cave for Kirk to show up. If history changed, how did he know Kirk would be there? Need I go on? It's a BAD MOVIE!
@Trekfreek Spock didn´t wait for Kirk; Nero put him there to watch Vulcan die. It was just a coincident they met there. And that´s exactly what Spock is telling Kirk. And he is surprised to meet him there. And Nero wanted the red material to destroy Vulcan and the Federation that´s why he waited for Spock because he has it on board. Wacht movies with both eyes and ears before you judge, my friend. That you havn´t been able to understand a movie doesn´t make it bad.
@Getrefreshed "Nero put him there to watch Vulcan die" but there is a better view on Nero's ship, plus it's so cold on the planet that Spock would concentrate on surviving than watch his world end. Did you not notice that Spock was not surprised that Kirk showed up, or the fact he did not leve the cave to go to the base (HE KNEW ABOUT) till after Kirk showed up? Nero had a Borg type ship he could easily wiped out everyone on Vulcan without magical Redmatter. You too need to watch with both eyes
@Trekfreek Nero had a mining ship not a warship. And he wanted Spock to experience the same pain he did and that for he destroyed Vulcan the -almost- same way Romulus died. And Spock wasn´t there for long so it doesn´t matter if he knew about the base cause he wasn´t long enough there to head toward it. And he´s a Vulcan he handles things the rational way. So it´s absolutly plausible if he took his time in the cave to plan his next step. And for me he was surprised but didn´t show too much. :)
@Trekfreek Spock expect Kirk and greeted him with the line "how did you find me?" I don't know about you, but when I expect to see someone, I don't ask "how did you find me?" Also, Spock DID watch his planet crumble.
As for his ship being more powerful, I agree but note that he was disabled by a single ship (Kelvin) On the same token... he was some how able to mop up a small fleet later on. His ship was a mining ship that he modified with Borg tech but it wasn't a Borg ship.
@chaff5 That only means that Spock was not expecting him personally. I don't know about you but if I was not expecting anyone I would not be waiting around, I would head for the federation outpost. Old Spock did now about the federation outpost, he's from the future. Would you stand outside freezing waiting to see your planet destroyed or would you concentrate on escape? When Voyager(explorer ship) was modified by the Borg, it handled large impacts, 0 problems. Borg tech makes anything a warship
@chaff5 Ps. The hole "modified mining ship" plot point...NOT in the movie. Also if I wanted someone to see the destruction of their race or home planet, I would not put him on an ice planet, I would restrain him and use a device to keep his head immobile and keep him from closing his eyes like in "A Clock Work Orange" and "Doctor Who the movie". The writers just added lines like "how did you find me?" in a lame attempted to make it more believable.
@Trekfreek Yes, the modified mining ship wasn't in the movie so most people don't know that.
You have to think about Spock's emotional state. He's not a typical Vulcan with complete control of his emotions, they DID show that in the movie. Even his father admitting to loving his wife. So at the longest, it's been a day when Kirk finds him. It might be only a few hours.
Also, he could have been in the cave contemplating his next step before heading to the outpost and Kirk got lucky. or unlucky.
@chaff5 "Even his father admitting to loving his wife." (which he never did in the series not until he was dying) proving that they are the same as the invaders in Plan 9 from outer Space. (Calm and logical)"We have no emotions." (Almost crying and stomping feet) "YOU HUMANS ARE SO STUPID! STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!" Even when Spock was born Sarak (as a Vulcan) was disappointed with Spock. (Flat and logical)"So Human." Star Trek V. Kirk got lucky? B.S. No one is as lucky as he was in the movie.
@Trekfreek Another idea is that he does't want to interfere. You may say, the time line is already screwed up. Yes, but then if that's true, why didn't he beam to the Enterprise himself? Because he doesn't want to interfere. He may feel that it's his fault that Nero showed up in the first place.
And speaking of Nero, he's just a guy. He's not a fancy military guy. He was a mining captain. I know, not in the movie, blah blah blah. He's not smart enough to hold Spock on his ship then kill him.
@chaff5 "He doesn’t want to interfere"? So, I guess that when he magically meats his best friend he suddenly changes his mind. Nero was just a captain? Damn I would LOVE to have a crew that loyal to me, waiting 20 years just to help me get revenge when saving Romulus would be better for everyone. "He's not smart enough to hold Spock on his ship then kill him." Have you ever worked in a mine? Miners are some of the most intelligent people on earth, especially their bosses.
@Trekfreek And as for the writers, yeah. It could have been better. Of course, it could have been a lost worse too. They could have killed off one of the original crew and that would have really pissed people off. Either way, they made lot of money, which in their business means they did good. They're making another one... the same people. So if you didn't like this one, you'd probably want to avoid the next one.
@chaff5 "it could have been a lot worse" Only if the main villain was Godzilla. Killing off one of the original crew would have made it a bit more interesting. Making money does not make it a good film. Godzilla S.O.S. Made over $300,000,000 in profits. The movie still sucks.
@Trekfreek Your opinion is exactly that. An opinion.
Are you basing your statements on the movie or the series? Emotions don't need to be stated in order to be felt. Just because he waited till he was dying to say something doesn't mean he didn't feel it his whole life.
Yes, miners are smart. They are not military minded. They don't take hostages. They don't kill people.
Have you ever been in the military? Loyalty is seen every day.
@chaff5 You miss the point. In the series Vulcans never admit their emotions especially each other. In the movie their words indicated that they were the same as the Vulcans in the series but then they get over emotional at a drop of a hat. How is that controlling your emotions? "Have you ever been in the military?" You just said Nero "was a mining captain" AKA not in the military. Also I have never known a solder to be so loyal as to follow their captain long after their empire was gone.
@chaff5. How is going on the captain’s personal vendetta instead of giving the Empire the weapons to attack its enemies, & not warning them about the super nova coming in 100 years time "preventing" the empire "from being destroyed"? "Controlling your emotions and not having them at all are completely different". Not for a Vulcan, a Vulcan’s greatest achievement is shedding all emotions, that is why they have Collinar. “I wasn't trying to get into a feud with a fanatic.” You failed! :-)
@BondFreek Yes, I failed. Trying to rationalize with an irrational person about fictional characters who are also thinking irrationally is well.. irrational. You have fun explaining the inner workings of emotion or lack of emotions for a fictional race in an alternate timeline.
And did you mean Kolinahr? The ritual to purge emotions but Spock, Sarak, and nearly 85% of Vulcans do not finish and there for not free of their emotions?
@chaff5. I'm not irrational, only a self righteousness jerk would say such a thing about someone they just lost an argument with. Yes, I'm a fanatic of Star Trek, which is where the word FAN comes from. Actually with Sarak there is no indication that he did not finish the ritual. Remember his disease removed all the barriers he gained as a full Vulcan and the rituals he studied. Also where did you get that 85% crap? Stop making shit up.
@Trekfreek Lost an argument? No sir, I only failed because I actually started by trying to be rational with you.
And 85% is a reasonable number to assume when MOST don't complete the Kolinahr ritual.
With Sarek, there's no indication that he DID finish either. So you can't prove your point.
And what's with all the name calling? Here I thought you were just a fanatic but now is see you're an asshole who's just closed minded. Good day sir. Once again, I'm done. You can win if you like.
@chaff5. Making up percentages is not facts. Kolinahr could be done by 20%, 50% 90% or even 100% of Vulcan’s you don't know; no-one knows. You called me irrational, That can be interpreted as name calling. Accusing people of lacking rational thought is MEAN! And now you claim that you lost because you were trying to be rational? When rational people lose arguments they acknowledge it with grace and dignity not insults. The TRUE asshole is you.
@Trekfreek Since when is "irrational" name calling? Which dictionary are you using?
Calling someone a jerk IS name calling. No interpretation needed.
And my "percentage" wasn't those who tried, it was those who failed. I'll say it again; most Vulcans do not finish. I would assume that since it is their way of life, everyone in their culture tries.
P.S. Please learn to spell and use words properly. Meat is not the same as meet. Cool to warm, not worm. Know is not pronounced the same as now.
@Trekfreek "Old Spock did now about the federation outpost, he's from the future."
"Spock is just a walk away from a worm star base, does he go there?"
"So, I guess that when he magically meats his best friend he suddenly changes his mind."
Go ahead, check them out. Erase them even. And what argument are you talking about? The one about emotions or the movie? The movie is your opinion. There's nothing to argue. For the emotions, you were wrong but close minded.
@Trekfreek Oh and being disrespectful with others are a proof that you're so pissed of by are oh-so-bad-argumentation-comments that you can't even stay calm to state your oh-so-awsome-facts arguments. Please, stop being this awful Internet Bullet. (anyway, i mean't Boulet, which states for annoying in french).
@Arianne2n Now who is being disrespectful? The posting your responding to was not aimed at you it was aimed at a SHIT HEAD who must insult people to win arguments.
@Trekfreek I'm not insulting you. I'm just suggesting you to stop annoying everybody with you're frustration. You're so convinced by you're arguments that you can't even be objective. I'm saying the movie has holes, but he's not totally bad. Just stop being this freak who think he possesses the truth. NOBODY DOES. You only possess your opinions. That's all. Please. Just stop. It's really annoying, and I hope you realises it. You made you're point on a lot of pages, we made ours. period.
@Arianne2n So if nobody has facts that must mean that facts don't exist, which means that life is a lie. Illogical Illogical.... Only you can explain this reasoning PLEASE EXPLANE! (Head explodes). When I back my opinion up with FACTS, it puts me closer to the truth. When you back up your opinion with opinions, it puts you further away from the truth. Truth is always annoying to those who do not wish to listen. As long as people praise this movie I will be here to give the opposing view point.
@Trekfreek Anyway, you know what? I don't really care. I gave you opinions with facts, you gave me opinions with facts. were the same, but not from the same generation (and don't go tell me one generation is better than another, i'm certainly as rational as you are, we both know the world's evolution make values and ideas change). You keep saying you have facts, I see nothing but opinion with well constructed ideas. but facts are more that. i'm finished. Your fight makes you the child here.
@Arianne2n@Trekfreek You both are very intelligent people and very informed. Why dont we just enjoy the movie and not think about how it is illogical in events. i mean illogical things do happen in even the best movies ...don't even get me started on jurassic park even if u ignore the dinosaurs coming to life, the plot was a complete...crazily impossible.
@virusguy5611 Absolutely right :P enjoy the movie ( I do think illogical things happen even in the greatest movies.... i mean, it's impossible not to make errors! :) thank you! ^^

@BondFreek I would imagine you've never known a soldier from an empire that doesn't exist anymore.
And you also missed the point. They weren't fighting for the empire they came from. They were preventing it from being destroyed.
Again, controlling your emotions and not having them at all are completely different things.
I'd rather not go to any blog. I was simply stating something from the movie. I wasn't trying to get into a feud with a fanatic.

BondFreek 1 year ago
@BondFreek Yes, I failed. Trying to rationalize with an irrational person about fictional characters who are also thinking irrationally is well.. irrational. You have fun explaining the inner workings of emotion or lack of emotions for a fictional race in an alternate timeline.
And did you mean Kolinahr? The ritual to purge emotions but Spock, Sarak, and nearly 85% of Vulcans do not finish and there for not free of their emotions?
chaff5 1 year ago
Trekfreek 1 year ago
@Trekfreek Lost an argument? No sir, I only failed because I actually started by trying to be rational with you.
And 85% is a reasonable number to assume when MOST don't complete the Kolinahr ritual.
With Sarek, there's no indication that he DID finish either. So you can't prove your point.
And what's with all the name calling? Here I thought you were just a fanatic but now is see you're an asshole who's just closed minded. Good day sir. Once again, I'm done. You can win if you like.
chaff5 1 year ago
Trekfreek 1 year ago

A dam stops water. You mean damn.
chaff5 1 year ago
@Trekfreek Oh and being disrespectful with others are a proof that you're so pissed of by are oh-so-bad-argumentation-comments that you can't even stay calm to state your oh-so-awsome-facts arguments. Please, stop being this awful Internet Bullet. (anyway, i mean't Boulet, which states for annoying in french).
Arianne2n 10 months ago
@Arianne2n Now who is being disrespectful? The posting your responding to was not aimed at you it was aimed at a SHIT HEAD who must insult people to win arguments.
Trekfreek 10 months ago

Trekfreek 10 months ago
@Trekfreek Anyway, you know what? I don't really care. I gave you opinions with facts, you gave me opinions with facts. were the same, but not from the same generation (and don't go tell me one generation is better than another, i'm certainly as rational as you are, we both know the world's evolution make values and ideas change). You keep saying you have facts, I see nothing but opinion with well constructed ideas. but facts are more that. i'm finished. Your fight makes you the child here.

@Arianne2n @Trekfreek You both are very intelligent people and very informed. Why dont we just enjoy the movie and not think about how it is illogical in events. i mean illogical things do happen in even the best movies ...don't even get me started on jurassic park even if u ignore the dinosaurs coming to life, the plot was a complete...crazily impossible.
virusguy5611 10 months ago
@virusguy5611 Absolutely right :P enjoy the movie ( I do think illogical things happen even in the greatest movies.... i mean, it's impossible not to make errors! :) thank you! ^^
