She never intented to put Marple and Poirot together, because she said "Hercule Poirot, a complete egoist, would not like being taught his business or having suggestions made to him by an elderly spinster lady". Sure, the two don't meet each other, but you mustn't forget that she hated Poirot.

@mondscheinserenity1 The producers wanted to find some way of connecting Poirot and Marple, who never met in the stories, in a way that would grab the attention of the middle-school and high-school kids who watched the show. They wound up creating a teenage daughter for Miss Marple's nephew Raymond, who is actually in the original stories; instead of going on to university, she decides to strike out on her own in London, and is hired as assistant (and flatmate) to Poirot's secretary Miss Lemon.
