  • BEAUTIFUL

  • MIchael, beautiful playing! And what a wonderful guitar!

Don't know if you remember me. I met you many years ago in Lubbock with Chapdelaine.

  • Beautiful piece of Baroque music, sound of that extraordinery instrument and your performance. Bravo.

  • Thanks, yes it's on my website under 13 string guitar.

  • what's that instrument?

    great job!

  • Thanks! The instrument is called a Dresden, I designed it and made it, after I gave up the baroque lute. It has thirteen strings tuned in D minor, same as a baroque lute. You could also tune it in regular guitar tuning.

You can see it on my website under thirteen string guitar. thamesclassicalguitars(dot)com

  • extraordinary...very musical...despitethe poor sound quality one can tell that the artist is very skilled...it comes through...lovely guitar you seem to be one with it when playing it...stunning, thank you

  • This is beautif Michael, thank you. Who made your guitar? Regards, Alan

  • Hi Alan, thanks for the complements. As to who made the guitar why I did! Google Michael Thames and my site will come up.

  • It's funny that people don't know who you are when they watch your videos... They compliment you on your playing, but they have no idea that you are a master luthier. I currently own one of your guitars. Thank you for changing my classical career. :)

  • Oh wow! Thanks for giving me credit beyond my due! I'm glad you are enjoying the guitar.

  • This is a very beautiful piece i play it on the Baroque lute.you play very well.I have to say i hate alot of guitar playing it sounds quite cheesy but your playing is beautiful sounds more lute like do you play with nails?Thankyou very much would love to hear some Bach if you ever play some. All the best.

  • Thanks, Robinom. from a lute player I consider your comments a great praise. Yes I agree with you the 6 string guitar falls short in the peice as well as all peices bt Weiss. The 13 string guitar allows the freedom and sustain to come through. The 6 string guitar is far too choppy an doesn't flow well.

    Michael Thames

  • Have you seen Tatsuo Tabei playing it? Search for Tabei Weiss. The way he plays it (on 6 string) sounds great, doesn't seem to be choppy at all.

  • Actually one must search for Tabei Wwiss since it's misspelled on his video.

  • is this instrument tuned like a guitar with an extended range or like an archlute?

  • Thank you so much I really enjoyed it, I think you're a great musician, congratulations and my best wishes.

  • Thanks Antonio!

    Michael

  • you are an exellent guitar player. this piece is so emotive, such a difficult style too. i'm trying to learn to play a weiss song too, sarabande suite de infidele. if you co7uld post a video of you playing that song it would be awsome

  • Thanks to all for the kind words. I used to play the Sarabande from Infidle as well as the first 2 movements, perhaps I'll post something in the future.

you can see more of my guitar at my website....

  • Thanks, the sixth string is tuned to A. the tuning is the same as a baroque lute in d-minor,

    from high to low....fdafdaGFEDCBA

    Michael

  • Hooha!!
