  • listen to rock me it was another good one

  • WOW...I just heard this on XM sat radio after.......Don't really remeber, perhaps 25 or 26 years....it took me back, way back in time.

  • Scorpio, I lied...I cannot live in this world without you...ever...

  • R. I. P. Deborah!

  • I was a junior in high school when I first heard this song and I fell in love with it. At that time, I was trying to tell my ex-crush how I felt about him. This song convinced me to go ahead and tell him how I felt about him. Well, it did not turn out what I quite expected but I did get a chance to dance with him at prom and to this day it is still the best night of my life.

  • Been looking all over the internet for the original version!

  • She was a great lady. R.I.P. Deborah.

  • @TheJer1963 Um, she's not dead..

  • @mfnt002 You are right, thinking of someone else. Starting to get old here. LOL

  • Been looking for the original version of this song all over the internet!

  • Great song ... she wrote Nothing to Do (and All Night to Do It) which charted for Billy Burnette in 1992 ... one of my personal favorites.

  • Great song and singing ... thank you for the post!

  • This true gem of a pop tune....resonates with devastating melodies/harmonies, personal sentiment, and, perhaps, most of all..........well, actually, isn't that enough?

  • What a talent. I have loved this song since it first came out. Glad I found it on YOUTUBE.

  • I know, I know--this is a " chick song", & a One-Hit Wonder. Well, I don't care--I loved it back in the day, & I still do today--& I'm a total-dude. Deborah, you were a knock-out, & this song is an all-time 80's Classic. Wolfsky9

  • A wonderful song. Pretty lady. Takes me back a few days!

  • I grew up in the 1980s hearing Deborah sing on the radio, "I've been wrong before, & I'm no stranger to a slammin' door." I also might have heard this song back then, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I now have an Anthology CD that includes both songs plus 19 more.

  • 6 people do not know what love long is.

  • i got this song on repeat, i can't stop listening to it. being without yu hurts so bad, all i want is for yu to listen to this song and realize how much pain i'm in right now.

  • I have always loved this song by Deborah Allen! Its a favorite on my ipod! Great Country 80's tune!

  • I don't wanna live in this fucking decade full of shit! Take me back in the 80's then freeze the time and I would gladly trade my life for it.

  • Awesome~!~!~!~

  • mrtelevision, This song entered the Billboard pop chart on 12/24/83. It wasn't in October, and it certainly wouldn't have peaked in January 1984 if it had started in October with it being on the pop chart for just seven weeks.

  • When this originally came out and I heard who sang it, I honestly thought it was the choreographer / sometime R & B singer Debbie Allen.............................shows what I know (knew)!

  • The other day I heard that new Eastin Corbin song, I can't love you back and the music reminded me of this song! Love both songs! Rarely if ever do I hear local stations play this song -- sad because it is an awesome song!!

  • The other day I heard that new Eastin Corbin song, I can't love you back and the music reminded me of this song! Love both songs! Rarely if ever do I hear local stations play this song -- sad because it is an awesome song!!

  • For some reason I had this song's hook in my head. I kept singing it all day long. I was shocked to find out that it was originally released on 1983. WOW, how the time flies by. Deborah never got the recognition she so deserved. The 80's was the era for some amazing music. Oh, how I miss those days. I was only 6 years old when this song was released so I never understood the lyrics. Now that I am almost 33 years old I can fully relate to them. Great song both lyrically and vocally. :-)

  • My names Derick....all I picture is Jim Rockford Driving to the set of the Rockford Files in his brand new 1974 Firebird listening to this song breathing in clean Malibu Ocean Air....Long Live Jimbo

  • @deriklfixit ........and then stopping off for a couple of tacos, with hot sauce. :)

  • @NWRockman Yea! Did you see the episode Jimbo put hot sauce on his Clam Chowter.

  • I absolutely love this song, i used to cruise around and listen to this when i was 17, and i am now 38, and this is one of my all time favorite songs. Deborah Allen has one of the most beautifulist voices i have ever heard....

    Tammy

  • This was truly a great time in my life as well. Love and miss the 80s. A magical time when it seemed anything was possible.

  • Dang I miss the 80s and good music.

  • Wow! I am making a playlist of country songs from the 80"s, when I saw the title of this one, I clicked on it because I wanted to see if it was the same song Trisha Yearwood sang. And I now know thats not the case, but this song is one my dad listened to on the country stations when I was a little girl! I can picture myself in the back seat of te car with both my parents up front. Its been like 25 years since I heard it and I'm 32

  • @AngelaRed Thanks for commenting! It's nice to see you here on this channel too (I also run the Cat's Pjamas channel as I may have mentioned).

  • @ILoveJenni47 Oh cool! Hello there!! and I am glad to know I'm not the only crazy person that eats, sleeps, breathe, and everything else in between music :-)

  • @AngelaRed its nice to remember the days

  • @AngelaRed And i'm 36 which means i was 4 years ahead enjoying great songs back then :)

  • i looked dis up cuz my moms name is Deborah Allen!!!!!

  • i wish i could freeze the seventies

  • Great song!!

  • I Love This song!

  • October, 1983 was when it entered the Billboard Hot 100(the week of 10/15/83)

  • This actually peaked on the Billboard pop chart in January, 1984. It had an unusual top 40 chart run:39-36-36-26-26-26

  • Whatever happened to her?

  • With the huge build up in the bridge, her voice is still powerful enough to maintain the intensity when the instruments stop. A very rare talent.

  • that is so true!!! our music is so much better than today.

  • is she Jewish?

  • This should have been a #1 country billboard hit.

  • Deborah will always be the most taalented songwriter. Ans she is a wonderful person!

  • Why can't they make relaxing music like this today? Todays music sucks!

  • wish i could freeze the 80's. miss it.

  • @2298991 God I was thinking the same thing.

  • I really, really wish I could go back and just stay in 80's I sure miss the music and much nicer people back then!!!!

  • @amanda817902

    I feel the same!

  • after hearing my bf's bud sing the line "baby i lied" for 2 wks. I just had to hear the whole song for myself & Deborah has a beautiful voice & now I love this song & it'll be playing in my head for the next week!

  • What a wonderful voice.

  • i told my husband to get the f@#$ out. and this was the song that ran thru my head.

  • what a great great song :0)

  • I remember hearing this song NUMEROUS times as a kid coming back from East Texas to Houston in the evenings coming down HWY 59 being DEAD tired from playing with my cousins; You know- The GOOD OLD DAYS!!

  • This song has a lot of meaning to me because it is a situation i am in right now. I am not with the man I love any more but still love him with everything in my. Deborah Allan is a great artist.,

  • One of my all-time Early 80's Classics, & a song I never, ever tire of hearing. Gorgeous vocals & masterful arrangement. I own the 45, & I treausre it. Wolfsky9

  • wow! nice song...

  • Another 1 hit wonder?!?!?!

  • @hiddencharges As I mentioned in the description, Deborah charted on the country chart many times, though this was her only entry on the Hot 100.

  • @hiddencharges

As a writer she has had a dozen or more hits recorded by artists like Tanya Tucker, Pam Tillis, Patty Loveless and John Conlee.

  • @hiddencharges I own this 45, & I fell in love with this song, the very 1st time I heard it. One hit or not, GBY Deborah for giving us this Masterpiece! Wolfsky9

  • @hiddencharges sorta... deb was wayyyy underrated, and also i think everyone considered her a BETTER song WRITER.

  • I remember this song. I've always liked it. I was in sixth grade when it came out.

    Dawn

  • i cant lie to my self

  • Great love ballad. I liked this song a lot back when it came out. I was in 9th grade in high school. Still a favorite.

  • is their an official video for this, I know it was 1983 so maybe not? I heard this on my xm satelite 80's 90's country station and I decide to pull her up here on utube nice song

  • I know that someone did a remake of this in like 2000 but I cannot remember the girls name to save my life!! Do yall?

  • bought this on i-tunes today, an updated version, it's good but i love love the old

  • "Chain Lightning" and "Into My Life" were GREAT songs!

  • Wow this song is not as good as me singing in my room 1 star only :( :)!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One Hell of a country singer ! Shame they don't make country music any more, just a bunch no talent crap groups now. Country music peaked in the '80's and was over in '93 as far as I'm concerened. These new groups wouldn't know country if it bit them in the ass. Should have seen it comming with the record co's self proclaimed super star no talent "Garf " Brooks that was how it was going to be from then on ,they would decide who is great .

  • Used to LOVE this song. So glad to hear it again.

  • The only place to hear this wonderful song on pop stations nowadays is on replays of Casey Kasem's American Top 40 - The '80s, although of course classic country stations treat this as the classic it should be treated as. Deborah Allen can sing circles around Taylor Swift and most of today's female country stars. Why was she not a bigger star?

  • great song and the voice....i was in high school at the time i love it...

  • @MsVivian617 So was I but to admit I liked this was taboo as country wasn't big in my school.

  • @MsVivian617 -- i was in gr. 6 when this song became a terrific hit here in the Philippines...

  • @rommelcalsa i was 15 at that time...ikaw ilan taon ka na nun????

  • @MsVivian617

OMG i just recently heard this songs from my manager, i was really impress, i checked it on the net ang found out that it was recorded year 1983, am not into life that time..

    ilove this song so much

  • i love this song. it was a love song Deborah Allen has a wonderful voice i miss her i wonder what become of her

  • 探してた曲が手に入りました。

  • this song was her first one that i fell in love with until "I hurt for you" came out.. i have always loved her music!!

  • Does anyone know where I can find the version of this song. I keep finding remakes that I absolutely hate. I want the original. I have loved this song since I first heard it in 1984.

  • Also hit #4 country, and #10 AC in Billboard. What vocal part would you say that Deborah has? God bless!

  • This song is so moving and the raw emotions you hear in her voice fits the song. Its great.

  • I've loved this song for years. Deborah did a powerful performance, just breathtaking!! I only wish they hadn't faded it out so fast, I love hearing her hit that high note at the end! Thank you for posting it!!

  • Love this song!!!

  • @lmpurdue yeah its really great..!!

  • still love this jam

  • I want to marry her!

  • thanx for postin', IloveJenni47. Should'vve peaked higher than #26 pop, Great song, terrific songwriter!

  • I would love to see her.I have always loved all of her music.May give me a good excuse go to Nashville.Rock me to Nashville

  • Looking for this song forever. Brings back memories of better times thank you Deborah, you are one in a million!

  • An Early 80's all-Time Classic. I never, ever, tire of hearing this Masterful vocal, by a Lady who should have been much, much, bigger! GBY Debra!! Wolfsky9

  • i saw her @ the nashville nightlife!!

  • her best song!

  • great song,been looking 4 this song.thanx!

  • Sweet song...still love it.

  • ok...i love this classic country pop stuff...hate modern country...but Sheryl Crowe (note spelling) never claimed to be country...i actually like her, but i know better than to think of her as country pop

  • i work the overnight shift in a grocery store and this song made it into the rotation a while ago. i heard it 8 to 10 times a night for a month and never got tired of it.

  • cheryl crowe didn't ruin anything

  • Fortunately for me the station I heard this song on back in the 80s gradually became a classic country station that plays the stuff from the 50s- 80s. It's like nothing has changed for me in that respect. I just heard this one played a few days ago which brought me here to look for it. This station is about the only one I have now.

  • DAMN!!!! Who ever knew DEBORAH was so

    HOOCHIE back in the day?????

  • Fantastic

  • Produced by Rafe Vanhoy .... A label of quality ....

  • join my deborah allen fan facebook page!

  • I love this song. It reminds me of my friend, Bobbikins.

  • lol

  • I never understood why country radio played this so much. Great song, outstanding vocal, but in no way country.

  • how can a great song like this just disappear?

  • check out the deborah allen fan site

    babyilieddotcom

  • thanks for that...heard this on pop stations as a kid. All the good songs seem to fade away.

  • 1983

  • great song!!

  • Certainly a tear jerker, got I need some tissues!!!!!!!

  • i loved this song since it first came out. my wife got tired of me playing it. although there was another song by Deborah Allen that she likes - i just can't remember which one it is.

  • 'Rock Me' is her best song IMO

  • great song from a great talent ...puts most females in country today to shame

  • jajvick....YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!!!!

  • You know, I don't remember this at all. But as I was looking at her chart run with this hit record, it climbed rather slowly on AT40. I didn't even hear this until they replayed Classic American Top 40. And her chart run was an amazing 21 weeks on the Hot 100. Oh and by the way I looooove this song!

  • I love this song, she is a great singer. And she just gets better with age, in every way.

  • I thought Marie Osmond sang this! They both have little girl voices. I mean that in a good way!

  • marie recorded several songs written by deborah. the only 'real' artists that have recorded this song are deborah, tracey ullman, and shannon brown

  • a classic story of my life

  • Old school but still I like this song.

  • this is a good song.

  • is deborah the one who sang the country hit that goes "everybody wants to be single...to be alone," also from late 1983-can't seem to find that one on youtube without knowing who the singer is

  • i think you are talking about crystal gayles, nobody wants to be alone.

  • thank you i 'll check the shop for the song wouldn't you know it the audio on the Youtube video of that crystal song has been disabled -what else is new- so i will have to verify it later

  • Amazing song! and an 80s classic!

  • Breathtaking, passionate song...and Deb is one hott babe!

  • In '83, this song was on the radio every 15 minutes, and yet, I never tired of hearing it. Truly, a " One Hit Wonder", but oh, what a hit it was! The memory will live forever with me. Wolfsky9

  • Deborah Allen is not one hit wonder. Yes, on the pop and adult charts, but many big hits on the country charts. Also, she is an accomplished writer who has written many, many hits for loads of established huge acts.

  • God, I miss the 80's. Awesome...oh, i guess that sounds weak.

  • amazing song, only heard it cause my girlfriend is into the oldies.

  • my mom had this record on heavy rotation back in the day! good to hear it again...

  • ...should have been #1.

  • You're right about that one!
