@lordofdoosh I played Saints Row 2 back when I used to like rap. Heard Opeth through there, then saw Katatonia live WITH Opeth. One hell of a show! Katatonia is one of my new favorite bands now!
Hey everybody! I just released my solo album "Mirror Image" that contains electronic upbeat and ambient songs heavily inspired by Katatonia and the music of Anders Nystrom and Jonas Renkse (including October Tide and Diabolical Masquerade). If you're interested you can check out the songs on my youtube page, and links to my myspace page and places to download the full album are on my youtube channel as well :) .
i like all your comments. good to see that there are many people that think the same way like me and have the same taste of music. so many of my friends think these kind of music is gay and for weak people or something like that...
i really cant say what song is the best from katatonia i meant, i've been hear every song, and i never cant find a album that make me feel like this, every song from every album they are just the best... im a "normal" person some ppl say that if i listen this kind of song im depressed, but i dnt feel like that, all this songs makes a reflects about me, my past, my future, even now ... katatonia will be the best band for me FOREVER! this is music ... srry about my english ^^but u know what imeant
very thoughtful lyrics. this band deserves an award just for their mental capabilities towards the media. especially because it faces the obvious arguments.
This stuff is awesome, as is the Brave murder day era and the Dance of December souls era.
From Viva onwards has really lost my interest though. They seem to have lost their songwriting touch. It all sounds too commercial and empty.
I could get lost for months inside the atmosphere of this album. I feel like I could live inside it. I can not say that of anything they did from Viva emptiness onwards.
I'm 25 seconds into this song and (surprisingly) I like it. I wasn't expecting much because of Jonas' inablity to growl. But I have to admit, listening to this makes me miss good ol' "Tomb of Insomnia". Damn that song was sad.
Well, if you look deep into the group's theme, you won't care much that he's not able to growl. I used to dislike katatonia after Jonas' throat problem, but I listened to 1-2 songs and got the idea - katatonia still uses deep metaphors and great tunes to create the atmosphere we're all used to.
I feel music such as this is best listened to with an open mind. Sure they have changed, we all can tell, but they are still a great band. At least we can all be thankful that they aren't another 'coretopsy' case.
When I say the old Katatonia I also include this album, so if you have misunderstood me, this is album is great too. I'm referring to their new "alternative metal" when I'm talking about their bad stuff.
Discouraged one...Shrouded in autumn's grave ascension. Seeking a relief for a dislocated mind, shelter for thoughts, asylum for his soul - finding the only place he need to know. But he's lost the track astray somehow. Running his way towards oblivion. He is weaker than they say...Who's painting his life in sorrow blue?! The weakness of hope is the strength of decline. There's no way he'll see the beginning of things to come. Trapped in the ways of the weak...
This sounds so much like The Cure

@xitlokrox No one is normal. some ppl are dangerous and they are the ones to ostracize anyway; my favourite comment i recieve for this music
(and all i listen to bar lady gaga -yes, yes i do!-) is "proper slit ya wrist stuff"
I can honestly say, ive never intentionally cut myself
Now what sort of "normal" normal person should stray straight down that thought path; simply for hearing a (fantastic) piece of music?
(sorry if thats offensive to readers, but I'm v.blunt with my lots of words)

Indeed. I was fairly new to Katatonia 3 months ago. Their music makes much more sense now, you could say.
