To get a good laugh at just how babyish grown -ups can be, get on You Tube, or any internet website for that matter. Let's settle this once and for all! Anyone who thinks Bruce was rude to play this song is a total idiot. If you had a clue you would know that Bruce and Seger have been very good buddies for over 40 years now. Yes, Detroit is Bob's town but Seger would be the last to mind Bruce's cover. If Bob pulled out "She's the One" in N.J. would Bruce or his fans be upset? I sure hope not.
I think Springsteen HONORS Seger and his music by covering this tune. One of the HARDEST things a professional band can do is cover another group's song. I respected the ability of Huey Lewis and The News--knowing they had risen from the depths of being a bar band to one of the 80s greatest groups--and when I heard them live doing a cover of "The Boys Are Back In Town" I found out how GOOD they really were as professionals.
Maybe some have forgotten early in his career with the E Street Band he did something called The Detroit Medley for an encore, consisting of killer 60's songs made famous by Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels. The Boss loves this kind of hi-energy rock n' roll, a Detroit strength. I love it when Bruce pays homage like this.
I think it's very flattering that Springsteen comes to my backyard, and of all the stuff he could play, plays music from my youth. Never seen the man before, listen to very little of his music, and doubt that'[s going to change. But I've listened to him pay tribute to what I call "The Other Motown Sound" more than anything else he has done. And he does a good job of it too.
My God you are WAY over-sensitive. I haven't accused you of anything, not once, I told you NOT to be that type of artist, I NEVER SAID YOU WERE! Some advise - A) Pick your battles. B) Lose the chip and C) Stop taking yourself so serious. "You don't know how I play.." Really? You wanna go with that?
You have 7 videos on your profile. Of which only ONE is an original... Now I'm gonna make a judgment about you - YOU'RE CLEARLY A FUCKING COVER 'ARTIST...'
@SwampDaddy7 Are you from Michigan? Do you ever play his songs in Michigan?
Springsteen can play Seger anywhere he wants, except for the boarders of Michigan. Detroit is Segers town and it's disrespectful to A) forget where you are. And B) try to cover it up by ripping off a hometown legend! It's either Seger or not. If you want to play "esque" songs I suggest you move to LA or Nashville and join the thousands of other clones trying to convince the world their style is different!
@redrocker1055 Unfortunately neither, although by your attitude against people who like Seger but unfortunately still have a ways to go until they're as good as Seger, I'll be giving you a wide berth until you calm down. I ain't saying what Bruce did was right, but seriously, man (or ma'am, I ain't sure). Unless you heard me play a song or two, don't try and call me a clone.
@redrocker1055 Just because a song is "Seger-esque" Does NOT make the singer a clone. It's called I have an appreciation for good music and am trying to avoid selling out. I also play a shitload of Rockabilly, does that make me a poser in your eyes, too?
Whatever happened happened, just take it for what it is. Don't like it? Don't watch.
@SwampDaddy7 I'll watch whatever I want... Just like you'll play whatever you want.
I've been playing guitar since before you were born and in those 21 years the one definite I've learned is there are only two kinds of musicians-- Those who write their own shit and those who copy others shit- Their is no in between- and thats alright with me, unless cover 'artist' try to claim originality!
Play what you want, just try and shape your own sound rather then chasing others!
@redrocker1055 No we're NOT. You don't know how I play. Don't chastize me like that. You could play for forty years before this little discussion, but now, you're accusing me of chasing others? Screw you, asshole. I hope you NEVER show up to one of my shows.

I'm guessing this was after he forgot where the hell he was,,,lol
Springsteen is alright, but come on an outsider playing a Seger song in Detroit is sacrilege.

@redrocker1055 I guess that makes me the Antichrist. I play a LOT of Seger (or Seger-esque) tunes.

@SwampDaddy7 All I said was -- Don't play Seger in Michigan, especially after you fuck up and call it Ohio.
I didn't call you a "clone... " You did! "Seger-esque" was your word, not mine!!!
