That thing is incredible, I can't even begin to think about the kind of effort it would take to make something like this and you made it look so sleek in the case.
To build a 19'' version of it would require to shrink the original panel which would imply to use either smaller knobs or to rearrange the layout. Both of it would destroy the tactile experience you might get with this device. And BTW: Material is ~700€ but the amount of work is quite huge and therefore priceless. Beside this, I wouldn't feel well to sell a device which was just cloned and developed by somebody else....somebody ingenious...
@eierreiter - - understandable. Yeah, the panel is what it is outside of rack constraints. Good job on it. Maybe you want to call it a Goom just turn the nameplate around.
i even like the lack of labels, numbers, etc - the blank black panel has a certain esoteric quality. Like something you would find on Forbidden Planet or something. Very cool. Could you make me one in a rack version (standard 19" rack) ?
@FlametopFred, In fact the labels are not necessary. You know each know and switch by heart after a while of using the Mini. Even if you are blind you are able to master the Minimoog.
most excellent. It sounds pretty good to my ears, as well as looking close to the original. How long did it take you to build? You could sell these . . .
Please tell what you use as CV-MIDI converter, or just point me in the right URL direction... I use Moog Old School but all attempts to sync it to MIDI (eg Kenton MIDI to CV box) have failed. Many thanks and congrats on a great engineering feat. Respect!
nice job dude!. most people dream of a vintage synth,if they could afford the price,u did what i suggested, get the service manual, and "Clone" the damn thing.there is a whole business, now cloning the moog modular synth.way to go,smart.

@eierreiter - - true enough : ) I owned a Minimoog for 20 years and after a while, yes - becomes 2nd nature to just touch the 'whatever' knob. cheers

What would you estimate the total cost of parts to be, excluding wood cabinet and faceplate. Electronics only. Thanks in advance.

Awesome! now all you need is a DIY keyboard to integrate into your ( clone ) moog!

Good job! the DIY is a kit someone sells, or you did it from zero? I mean, is there a buyable kit to do it?
Ruidotronics 2 years ago
I made all the PCBs by myself. I am not sure if there are any kits available but I think this might cause some copyright issues with Moog.

Can it play any other notes I wonder.
UrbanCrunkMovement 2 years ago
Sure, any note you want but only one note a time.

Please have a look at the comment I posted to Ambrosia800. You will find a link to the MIDI to CV converter.

Sorry... I meant Pitch bend of course... ;-)

What kind of Midi interface do you use and how does the Mini react on Pirch Bend and Modulation?
And does he have no Glide at all?
Ambrosia800 2 years ago
wow awesome !!!

Except from the sequencer and midi, is this synth identic to a minimoog?
fystasjoppheng 3 years ago
Yes, except for the Power Supply and the Glide (part of the keyboard logic). I added also S&H and PWM which are noramlly not part of the Mini.

how much did it cost you to build that all together?
Nismology5 3 years ago
I haven't done an exact calculation. The price for the material only ~700€.

I only made a filter board at this time and it's not a easy task. Well done great job.
