I stumbled onto this song by mistake on iTunes back in 2008. When I bought and listened to it, I thought I'd died and gone to Heaven. That's how magnificent this song sounded - and still sounds. I also wish it had been included o the US/UK prints of the album. I probably heard it 20 times after getting it.

Aside from how awesome Keane's version is, I also think this song could sound good in the hands of musicians like U2, Bon Jovi, Van Haln, Slash or any act that tunes down half a step.

Why in hell wasn't this promoted as a single?

This song has the kind of raw emotionality and instrumental bravado reminiscent of early U2... that which made them an international powerhouse group. This could have been the song that would have made Keane standardized wallpaper in the USA.

All that aside, it's fucking brilliant without being somber and lugubrious, unlike so much of their catalog.

I totally agree with walkthisway. And I too wish I had bought the singles. Unfortunately there is not one single left, in Paris ( FNAC and Virgin).I looked like a fool asking for them. They told me to buy the albums, which I already have. This should have been on the album. Tim was the one who seemed to be on drugs with the lame song selection on UTIS. A lot of songs on it seem obviously 'b-sides', while the B sides I've heard seemed album worthy.

This song seemed like it could have even been a single worthy A side song, if they cleaned up the vocal to highlight TC's voice.

Back in the days, people would buy singles on vinyl. There are two sides on it that you can play, unlike cd's (it has two sides, but (usually) only one of them has anything on it).

On the A side, you would have the single, and on the B side, you would have an extra song. Albums also has an A side and a B side on vinyl. Modern singles on CD, work this way, too, but usually the b-side get no attention, no matter how good they are.
