the Elevators seem to be at thier psychedelic zenith on this album - "Slip Inside This House" is a masterpiece, and many of the other tunes establish great mood portraits - I prefer listening to "Dust", in particular, on those rare occasions when I still get way too drunk - takes me to another dimension...
I discovered this album at a 1982 yard sale in Denton, TX. It was hidden inside a "Rufus with Chaka Khan" album cover, and it was in horrible contidition, but I listened to it repeatedly, scratches and all. There was a consortium of musicians from local bands who would get together as the "13th Floor Grain Elevators" to pay tribute to the masters. Tito from Brave Combo moved to Austin to play with Roky Erickson. The power of this music is there for those who can hear. Thanks.
I love this band but the more I listen to their songs the more I think how I have never heard anything like it, any tips on bands like this would be great. Great lyrics and great sound.

I absolutely love this song. The lyrics are so strange, very free and lysergic. As if he's trying to express an overwhelming feeling of love for nature. Almost silly, but so earnest and beautiful. Can't help but think of his impending 'nervous breakdown' when I listen.
its a great song but the production is terrible

dalgroves10: I grew up with this band in Texas and was a classical and rock and roll musician.
I can say with certitude that there was & never will be any other bands like this, so you'll just have to immerse yourself in them.
They played the Bamboo Hut in Galveston and Benny Thurman (bass) sometimes on the tune Egyptian Eye would do this surreal primal scream outta nowhere.
My band opened for 'em @ the American Legion hall and after their sets there was only silence & polite applause.

Maybe one of the most awesome psychedelic tunes out there. To fully comprehend the lyrics means to touch the deep heart of spiritual mystizism.
