do i have to get both files downloaded for it to work because it says when i have just the one file(camstudio)...when i try to RUN...its says (corrupted file make another copy)

I tried this and I keep getting the "unable to record AVI file" whenever I try to record just the desktop or anywhere else. I use Windows XP SP2. I get the same issue with My Screen Recorder.

i've followed all the steps but every time I click the camstudio icon on my desktop, it still opens the install menu and the "i accept" bla bla bla thingy. like, it doesn't start instead the install "menu" pops up that i've completed a hundred times. excuse me if my english is bad. ^^

if i use Xvid MPEG-4 Codec, the video that i record always plays back a black screen...

any thoughts on why that is?

Thanks for this vid. I was getting frustrated with fraps not having anyway to record the desktop. I had to work out some weird bugs because of my sound card is a Realtek HD. If anyone else is having the same problem let me know I'll make a video on how to fix this.

What is the time limit to record? I tried recording a full 15 minutes of drawing with my graphics tablet on Photoshop CS4 but it keeps crashing every time I try to save it.

Well it could be so for various reason. Little memory, slow processor, multitasking, computer could some cleaning. To be honest its to much stuff you really narrow down from one question. As far as the mouse they may be something inside the camstudio setttings.

Oh I haven't tried for my vista computer yet, I just assumed it didn't work cause it said for XP.

FRAPS can record from a Vista desktop, as the Vista windows manager runs through Direct X, which is what FRAPS can capture.

Good question. The only way I know of is to use an external video camera or record a virtual machine
