I have owned 2 of the 2008 models and have had good luck as far as burning oil goes. Yes, it is a very small bike compared to other 1 litre bikes. Great bike so far!
Why are you blipping the throttle when you down shift? The thing has a slipper clutch. You could drop the clutch into a lower gear from a high RPM if you wanted to. Are you used to riding without one and are practicing rev matching?
I honestly like the seating of the R1 better but personally I love the look of the CBR more than the R1. Not to say the R1 is ugly or anything just not for me. I seen and heard the R1 in person and I just dont think it sounds all that great, maybe it needs some getting used to. The R1 did get awesome reviews on Sportbike Rider magazine.
How do you like the CBR? From sitting on it it is more comfortable than the others. thinking of getting an 09 R1 or the 08 CBR 1000rr cause its cheaper. Any thoughts?

08 CBR is a steal for what they are going for... who cares about burning oil issue.. the bike is a minter..
3rd gear will wheelie without a clutch once you get past 10,000 rpm..
Oh and it feels lighter and more flickable than my old 600... nuff said

Mine doesn't burn. I think it's something like 3 out of 10 burn oil, a big mess up from Honda, but still. Its not like EVERY Fireblade burns.
