Mr. Mickelson, who is neither a Mormon, a lawyer, nor a veteran political strategist or candidate, took it upon himself to instruct Mr. Romney, who is all three, on what he was doing wrong in his campaign and what his religion says.
Mickelson was trying to tell romney that he is not following his own religion. Romney knows his religion better than Mickelson. I'd be pissed too if someone thought they knew more about my religion than I.
Thanks for posting this! I'm glad I had a chance to view the whole thing - because the clips displayed elsewhere give a different message don't they! And thank you for your commentary, I think you're right on.
Romney's 'righteous indignation' over Mickelson's questioning was entirely justified, and showed that he isn't one to be pushed around. Good for Romney... besides, at least to me, it was painfully obvious that Mickelson wasn't sincere in his claims to fully agree with the Mormon church's positions. If he did, why would he try and hinder a candidate's success, when supposedly that candidate would bring the values Mickelson supposedly supports to the Oval office?
I agree. Mitt Romney handled himself extremely well. He will get these kinds of questions in office, not necessarily about his religion, but probably about his patriotism, his policies, or his decisions. He will be able to defend his points with effectiveness and strength. Well done, Mr. Romney and well analyzed Byron York.
I have to say, I will probably not vote for Romney as I disagree with much of his positions on the issues. However, I think Romney did a great job pointing out that he is running for "secular office" and not a religious post in his own church. Good job, Mitt, but I don't think this is the last you will see of the right-wing Taliban. They seem to be a persistent bunch.

So.. like... ummm.. what the hell would good things for good people have to do with a psycho that worships a god that is an obvious fabrication of an 18th century con man/seer for hire?? Indian ghosts, gold tablets and seer stones.. where the harry potter fuck do you imbecile ignorants get off respecting such a farce???
Thanks for your commentary. I agree with you, this was Romney's best performance ever. The amazing thing, is that he didn't even realize he was "on". He thought he was having a private conversation. The host even said "off the record", implying the microphones were off (and obviously cameras also). It was definetely an ambush, but its refreshing to see a candidate that is real, same on stage as he is in person. But we got an opportunity to see the passion, wit, and courage of this man. Thanks.

That interview could well be the clincher for Romney. Unexpected things happen like that for good people.

Great!! Romney was REAL in his exchange with Jan Nickelson, especially considering it was a set up to begin with.
