However, the real reason is that Connors was STILL sore about two brutal losses he suffered at the hands of Agassi in the 1988 and 1989 U.S. Opens. In the 88 Open, an 18-year-old Agassi absolutely punished Connors like a puppet on a string. In 1989, it was a five set war that Agassi won.

Agassi is worth about $200 million and Steffi has another $80 million.
