Yeah, I used the analog triggers and stick on the xbox 360 controller. It works by passing the steering or gas button to the game a certain amount of times per second, depending how far the axis is pressed.
Hahaha. I always tried to accelerate faster than the opponent car by shifting at just the right time at the start of the race, but there's no way using the orange car. There was a trick I found by starting in the dirt on the side of the tracks - it makes you accelerate very fast until about 60-70mph (doesn't work in Quest mode), but the opponent catches on and takes off even faster!
This is one of my favorite racing games of all time

I used to play this so much I used to like making the computer controlled car crash...
I loved that RPG mode it had where you build up your car...
