Im tired of people talking about USA in 2004. We didnt even have our best players. If Kobe Bryant and Shaq had played, we would have owned everyone. Seriously No one on any of the other teams would have been able to hold shaq. And Kobe would have scored 40+ each game. Look what happened the next Olympics when we had Kobe and a dominate center like Dwight Howard. We destroyed everyone. Admit it USA dominates basketball and always will.

In 2006, during the World Basketball Championships, the US got beaten again...this time WITH the "redeem team" and their best players. It was no fluke, and the US learned by 2008.

The world basketball tournaments are irrelevant and NBA stars don't wanna risk injury just to run some sub par international team into the ground. @Greendude33, as I said already, nothing in sports is a certainty. 2007 - The Patriots were supposed to go undefeated. 2003 - The Yankees were supposed to kill the Marlins. The Mavericks don't play European teams, and while they'll be heavily favored (likely by more than 20 points), it's not a guarantee they'll win.
Want to prove you're the best? Beat the world, not just your own league. Sure, you might have the best players ON PAPER, but do you have the best team when it's actually game time?

The US leagues for Basketball,Baseball and American Football are dominated by the US and they rightfully call themselves world champions when they win their league. Yea I admit, most Chinese are shorter in comparison to Americans, but northern Chinese are considerably taller than Southern Chinese, which you most often encounter. Average height for northern Chinese is about 170-185 cm tall.
And basketball isn't really Asian's specialty, ping pong tennis, badminton, shooting, and diving are.

how am I dumb? if u did chinese history u would know. the southern area back then was relatively poor and was run over by foreigners which led to mass migration. compared to the northern area, it was bearable and had less people migrating to foreign nations.

Yeah man...but the nba does get a quite a few players from other countries which i think is really nice and great. Like Yao, Yi Jianlian, Andrew Bogut (AUSSIE), The Gasol Brothers, Rudy Fernandez, Jose Calderon, Bargnani, Nowitzki, Ginobli, Turkoglu, Okur...and even the new kings rookie from Isreal (which i think is the most awesome thing ever) Cassipi, who's playing pretty good atm. so yeah, nba is becoming more international like and therfore basketball is also becoming and international sport
