I agree that we should be aware of the motercycle drivers that we share the road with, I do however believe that it is a two way, that we should all, no matter what we are operating on the road, should be aware of each other and follow the laws as individuals with ours and the safety of others first and foremost!

Why someone wants to endanger themselves with these things I'll never understand. Hopefully you'll live to hear the excuses on why it happened, but does it matter? I'm not taking that chance. I'm not blaming someone else because of my choice in vehicles. *NEWSFLASH*
Accidents happen involving ALL vehicles. cycles tend to be less forgiving then cars. But I'm not saying anything you didnt know.
It's easy to get car drivers to look out for us, make them ride a moped as a compulasary part of thier driving lessons, and then they will relise how taking 5 secs more to look for bikes counts for a lot.
ive got provisionals for both my bike and car ( hopefully take tests this year), im s#*t scared that im gonna hit another biker when in my car. but none of my friends have realised just how vulnerable we bikers are when out. i hope they do improve awareness.
Yes i belive this video should be shown to all L-Plate drivers and to also ride a bike so drivers know what to look for as well seeing our perspective as this video shows people use the excuse "I DID'NT SEE YOU". And if fact when on 4 wheels i do look for fellow riders which makes me a better driver/rider.
Here in the U.S. they should require evryone to ride a bike and then a tractor on a course and do about 5 simple menuvers to get their passenger car license. they'd have a better appreciation of how other vehicles operate on the road,,, not just daddys lexus!
bloody car drivers not looking eh....my first bike was written off with me whilst I was waiting at a red light!!! the driver was looking at a map or something(according to a witness)and hit me at around 40mph, no skids,no braking,i was tossed into the air! the driver said they didnt see me!....then they told their insurance that it was my fault!!
took a year of solicitors,6months physio, public transport etc before I got back on the road.
Never assume anything on a motorcycle, especially that people in cars see you. Slow down at busy intersections, and make eye if you can. You can see if the person in the car is looking your way. It could save your life.
very real threat, I wrote my first bike off at an intersection. lady didn't see me, and turned left in front of me. I always flash my high beam, or stand up on the pegs for a second before I enter intersections now.

I always give a little extra room for bikes - unless it's an asshole on a crotch rocket, speeding and weaving between cars. Here in Florida, assholes outnumber responsible riders 10 to 1.
@MisterMateo Tolerance of dangerous behavior is not the proper response either. If you see someone doing something that is against the law, you should get the tag number and call the authorities. Dumbasses can be dumbasses as long as they aren't endangering innocent people.
you shut the hell up, nobody sees you when your on a bike no matter how slow your going, ill admit in a situation like that the biker should have anticipated that, but until you ride and find out just how vulnerable you are you should keep your comments to yourself
Wow what a brilliant idea! Next time I am out riding I will be sure to slow down at every intersection so at one of them the guy/girl that is tailgating me yakking on cellphone and drinking their dunkin donuts coffee while tring to select a cd to play can run me over and kill me.
The bike had the right of way in that T-Intersection. So lets find out...would you have slowed down in your car? I think everyone who reads this will know that you probably wouldn't.
You think lane-splitting should be illegal too right? Sure, let's congest traffic more, lock more people up in traffic, and force cycles to sit between to hammers waiting to crush em. Remember that attitude next time you're eating your McD's, changing the radio, talking on your phone, etc... Asshole.
I have a 1 million candle power light, I was thinking of rigging on my bike, so when someone pulls this shit i can flip it on. You would be hard pressed to miss that.
but if you pause the clip on the fist part before the bike hits you will see that there is no bike there but where it shows the second bit the bike is put in with the light on you can clearly see
this vid is fixed so you think you missed the bike at first glance but really there wasnt a bike in the first place so for those who missed the bike didnt actualy miss it coz it wernt there
I ride in Australia and there's not a day that goes by when I'm not seen at an intersection and have to avoid a collision caused by a driver. I slow at intersections so there's room for error in a situation like this but drivers here are so ignorant towards others (cars aswell as bikes) and eager to get home those 10secs earlier so as not to miss the recaps at the beginning of their nightly Home and Away and Neighbours fix.
Both drivers and bikers need to be more aware of their surroundings. As a biker, it is my duty to be safe, and smart. However drivers have just as much an important role.
Bikes speeding is definitely a problem...but when cars enter my section of lane cause they are too impatient to change lanes or stay behind me when I am doing the speed limit it gives you a clear picture of just how car drivers look at those of us on bikes.
why it the bike not in the first clip but is in the second?

anyway, its true. always stay focused on roads!!!

Bikes NEVER have the right of way and if you ride one, never think you do.
Maxwedge12000 4 years ago
Legally a bike should be treated the same as any car. If the car would get the right of way in that scenario then so should the bike.
Now...car drivers respecting that right of way is another story and as a result of their disrespect riders should be extra aware.
highpark2908 4 years ago 3
It depends, if you have the right of way on a bike and want to prove it you could be dead right or dead wrong.
Ride safe
