Amen. I ride and whenever I approach that type of situation, I click my high beams on and off just for the extra attention. It helps also to just assume that car WILL pull out in front you you. be ready.

It's easy to get car drivers to look out for us, make them ride a moped as a compulasary part of thier driving lessons, and then they will relise how taking 5 secs more to look for bikes counts for a lot.

Here in the U.S. they should require evryone to ride a bike and then a tractor on a course and do about 5 simple menuvers to get their passenger car license. they'd have a better appreciation of how other vehicles operate on the road,,, not just daddys lexus!

bloody car drivers not looking eh....my first bike was written off with me whilst I was waiting at a red light!!! the driver was looking at a map or something(according to a witness)and hit me at around 40mph, no skids,no braking,i was tossed into the air! the driver said they didnt see me!....then they told their insurance that it was my fault!!

took a year of solicitors,6months physio,public transport etc before I got back on the road.

Never assume anything on a motorcycle, especially that people in cars see you. Slow down at busy intersections, and make eye if you can. You can see if the person in the car is looking your way. It could save your life.

I ride in Australia and there's not a day that goes by when I'm not seen at an intersection and have to avoid a collision caused by a driver. I slow at intersections so there's room for error in a situation like this but drivers here are so ignorant towards others (cars aswell as bikes) and eager to get home those 10secs earlier so as not to miss the recaps at the beginning of their nightly Home and Away and Neighbours fix.
