Are you talking about using the USB ports built in to the Xbox? If so, then no that won't work. The Xbox won't recognize the USB cords. By modding the keyboard and mouse in to a controller, the Xbox thinks its a controller.
I think you have more control of the aiming with a mouse. I have tried playing these games and its just a bitch having to move one dir button to walk/run/strafe, and then another dir button to look or aim.. fuuuuuck that!! You have the mouse with the trigger right at your finger tips and you need less than 4 fingers to move around. Its easier. As for online gaming kb vs pads.....kb games will be teabagging the pads hands down, but I could be mistaken.
I guess I dont play enough Xbox or PS's to fully understand where your coming from. What I see though are 13 year olds that can use their controller better than I can use the mouse & pad. I dont see how it destroys competition when everyone gets a chance to have one. Segregation can be the key to making everyone happy, though I honestly dont see the need for it. I feel you, I'm an older gamer myself, and what you described about the 10 year olds, I couldn't agree more. :) Personally, I love the mouse and kb, I really do, I just dont want to see it implimented without a segregated server option. I wouldn't destroy competition if they only played with other m/kb users. But once they start competing against pad users, thats what I have a problem with. Honestly its hard for me to say since I dont play much games. If all youve used is the pad i wouldnt think so. movement sensitivity should be the same. pads have possibly easier/quicker access to their inventory (thumbs & fingers) where mouse/boards have their keys more spread out, so changing weapons on the fly (F keys) sometimes forces us to stop moving because we have to us the same hand. as well as having to look at the specific key as opposed to the "Helen Keller" feel of the pad.
Well I dunno what to say. I do know this tho. If you managed to get good with the mouse and kb, you would understand what I'm talking about here. I'm not one to brag myself but I will say this. After buying the Sega mouse and kb for the dreamcast and using it for Unreal, and Quake3 arena, My fragrate nearly quadrupled. YES REALLY!. And I'm prob no better then the average joe. In the end, this boils down to the fact that the advantage it gives, outweights even the most skilled pad user imo
Im a pc guy and never liked controllers. I like this adapter. It actually allows me, someone who doesn't have 4 hours a day to dedicate on being an expert at thumb wrestling, play with alot of people more competitively. Besides, if it was all about the controller and not the game itself, why not have a open field so the best "controller" wins. OR, you can use the environment to beat your opponent. My 10 cents..

The anwser to your problem lies with MS. Have them dedicate segregated servers for peeps who use the m/kb combo and allow them to detect who is using what control method. Can you use a xbox 360 play and charge kit wire with XFPS since the charge kit turns your wireless Xbox 360 into a wired controller to plug into the USB to charge it and the USB Guitar Hero II controller to activate the XFPS adapter?
Which aren't supported by games with mouse and keyboard as gamecontrollers which seems to be a Microsoft requirement, so this is the only option. Doesn't look very practical though, he constantly has to reposition the mouse. When i play CS:S on PC, i never have to do that.
The XFPS sucks by itself, but when you use a smartjoy frag for ps2 on it's ps2 connector it works great. You can get the XFPS anywhere but the smartjoy frag is hard to find now since lik-sang shut down. I found one at 4triangles dot com but it was $50. Maybe there's other places with it cheaper?

You can give yourself rapid fire with the keyboard if you're tech savy, but then again you can do that with controllers too.

I think you have more control of the aiming with a mouse. I have tried playing these games and its just a bitch having to move one dir button to walk/run/strafe, and then another dir button to look or aim.. fuuuuuck that!! You have the mouse with the trigger right at your finger tips and you need less than 4 fingers to move around. Its easier. As for online gaming kb vs pads.....kb games will be teabagging the pads hands down, but I could be mistaken.

I guess I dont play enough Xbox or PS's to fully understand where your coming from. What I see though are 13 year olds that can use their controller better than I can use the mouse & pad. I dont see how it destroys competition when everyone gets a chance to have one. Segregation can be the key to making everyone happy, though I honestly dont see the need for it. Ill get my ass waxed with or w/out it, so it makes no dif to me. ;-)

I feel you, I'm an older gamer myself, and what you described about the 10 year olds, I couldn't agree more. :) Personally, I love the mouse and kb, I really do, I just dont want to see it implimented without a segregated server option. I wouldn't destroy competition if they only played with other m/kb users. But once they start competing against pad users, thats what I have a problem with. Someone good with a m/kb will beat a pad user 9 times out of 10. Wouldn't you agree? Peace

Honestly its hard for me to say since I dont play much games. If all youve used is the pad i wouldnt think so. movement sensitivity should be the same. pads have possibly easier/quicker access to their inventory (thumbs & fingers) where mouse/boards have their keys more spread out, so changing weapons on the fly (F keys) sometimes forces us to stop moving because we have to us the same hand. as well as having to look at the specific key as opposed to the "Helen Keller" feel of the pad.

Well I dunno what to say. I do know this tho. If you managed to get good with the mouse and kb, you would understand what I'm talking about here. I'm not one to brag myself but I will say this. After buying the Sega mouse and kb for the dreamcast and using it for Unreal, and Quake3 arena, My fragrate nearly quadrupled. YES REALLY!. And I'm prob no better then the average joe. In the end, this boils down to the fact that the advantage it gives, outweights even the most skilled pad user imo

Im a pc guy and never liked controllers. I like this adapter. It actually allows me, someone who doesn't have 4 hours a day to dedicate on being an expert at thumb wrestling, play with alot of people more competitively. Besides, if it was all about the controller and not the game itself, why not have a open field so the best "controller" wins. OR, you can use the environment to beat your opponent. My 10 cents..

I sympathise with you I really do. But when you throw this into the mix, it delegitimizes competion due to the fact that it destroys the level playing feild of live. The anwser to your problem lies with MS. Have them dedicate segregated servers for peeps who use the m/kb combo and allow them to detect who is using what control method. This would be the only solution that would work imo. All I'm saying is, that this isnt about preference when it destroys the competion. Peace

I have never lost a debate on this. And any Real gamer...PC or Console already knows the advantage the mouse gives you. You wan't to get embarased son, give me your gamertag and I'll see you on COD4 where I can embarass you like the assclown you are. I didn't realize it took a rocket scientist to come to the conclusion that this isn't the same thing as a using a fighting stick or racing wheel. I've seen this bullshit first hand on the Sega Dreamcast with Quake. No one tells me shit boy..:)

It's not always about beating out the competition, I know many PC gamers that would play 360 if only they could use a mouse and keyboard....just because they're not used to using a joypad. If it's a tournament or something that actually matters, sure make the rules known, no keyboards and mouse pads...but if a person's willing to/forced to sink $90 into a feature that should have come out of the box, what's the big deal?

It's always about beating out the competition when you have the accuracy and speed of the mouse. As far as PC gamers go, personally, think that's theier problem, its THEM who are the one's that need to adapt not us. Only option would be to filter the servers so they detect what they are using, but in the end, MS already has made their stance known. I for one, wont be playing any cross platform game, especially Shaddowrun.

Can you use a xbox 360 play and charge kit wire with XFPS since the charge kit turns your wireless Xbox 360 into a wired controller to plug into the USB to charge it and the USB Guitar Hero II controller to activate the XFPS adapter?

Which aren't supported by games with mouse and keyboard as gamecontrollers which seems to be a Microsoft requirement, so this is the only option. Doesn't look very practical though, he constantly has to reposition the mouse. When i play CS:S on PC, i never have to do that.

The XFPS sucks by itself, but when you use a smartjoy frag for ps2 on it's ps2 connector it works great. You can get the XFPS anywhere but the smartjoy frag is hard to find now since lik-sang shut down. I found one at 4triangles dot com but it was $50. Maybe there's other places with it cheaper?
