Think about the statistics - the US homicide rate is twice that of France and Germany, four times that of England, and 7 times that of Japan. In 70% of the US homicides the weapon was a gun. It seems to me that we're all a lot safer with guns controlled and regulated.
Of course gun-grabbers can throw things like that out and it seems to make sense to some folks. If they had taken my gun from me, I would be long dead already. Guns save lives of law-abiding citizens. Most of the gun deaths in your statistics are the deaths of criminals. You won't read much about people like me who are still alive because they had a gun. Killers and rapists are killed by citizens and that inflates your gun-death statistics beyond reason. Those deaths shouldn't be counted.

Please do not combine in your stats of *firearm related deaths of criminals by criminals with illegal weapons, *accidental discharge of weapon resulting in death and *law abiding armed citizens going on killing sprees. I live outside of Chicago. My state has 13 million people. In 2007 their were 755 murders. 75% were either gang or drug related. Over 70% of both murderers and murder victims were black. Illinois is 15% black. I'm not saying this to be racist but a majority of murders by guns are minority, drug and gang related.
