As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect. He was lying on his hard, as it were armor-plated, back and when he lifted his head a little he could see his domelike brown belly divided into stiff arched segments on top of which the bed quilt could hardly stay in place and was about to slide off completely. His numerous legs, which were pitifully thin compared to the rest of his bulk, waved helplessly before his eyes.
Hey guys, if you like this band, you'll love my band! We are a stoner/sludge/doom metal band that formed about about 2 years ago. On our channel we have 5 original songs up as of now, the sound quality sounds almost professional, we will be uploading more soon. There is also 3 covers of Electric Wizard songs that I'm sure you guys will enjoy. Our band"s sound is very original, but is comparable to bands like Electric Wizard, Sleep, Isis and countless other bands. Listen to us, You WILL like it!
@flyfish1995 I was lucky enough to see their final concert. Front row, Seattle! You should grab some Cult of Luna while you're at it. And then look back into Neurosis.
I'm surprised there's not more discussion about the content of this video. I mean, that's some pretty deep stuff to think about. So many different ways to interpret this: The timely, complex process of creating a human life and yet how quickly it can be reversed; all the potential you think about when you see the fetus, but also knowing it's future fate; the faults that led to the person's decision to end it all. Very powerful stuff.
@WaywardTusk Yeah, really. The first time I saw this, I was laying in bed that night thinking about a lot of things. It definitely made an impression. It's a rare thing for a music video to do something like that. This was an amazing concept.
@skylineqrt4 I wonder if the director of this video had that in mind? Did they intend for it to be thought-provoking, or is it just bullshit that comes across as deep? Either way, I wish my brain worked in such a way as to produce ideas like this video.
@thisisexile66 I know what you`re saying man. I was thinking the same thing. I was also thinking about the fact that anytime someone dies there`s another human being, he`s replacement, getting ready to be born. It`s a cycle. It`s so much emotion involved here, for example when the child`s hand thouches that "wall of water" and the music kicks in, my eyes fucking get wet. I`m not crying, it`s just that`s some powerfull stuff. Gosebumps, man !
@MrSatanochio Oh, I shed a few tears watching this after the first view. First time I watched it, I was just speechless. I don't understand this life. It's beautiful, yet horrible. Still, I can't foresee a situation where I would give up on it. As I get older (I'm 30) I've been thinking more about death. Not just the lyrical stuff in death metal lyrics but more along the lines of: "Damn, I'm going to die someday. What's that going to be like? What comes next?" Haha, stupid human brain!
@thisisexile66 any electrical energy in your brain will be transfered to the kinetic energy of the earth (that's the way i see it. energy cannot be created or destroyed so ifigured reincarnation isn't that unbelievable). you will cease to exist.. i get what you mean. nature is fucked... i have an irrational fear of malignant tumours and cancer.
i also always wondered if you could feel your corpse rot after you die...which would SUCK
@bearblaster420 I agree with you about reincarnation. I'm open to possibilities like that. My irrational fears are: having a body that no longer works, but a fully functioning brain (I think I'd go mad); being stuck in a very small space and going crazy; and slowly being crushed to death. The only consolation that I give myself is that when it's all over, it'll be the same as before I was born. On a related note: it blows my mind that at one point in my life, I used to live INSIDE another human!
@thisisexile66 A fetus by itself can't do anything, therefore it has no potential. Think of it like newtons first law of physics: an object (the fetus) will only move (grow) if an outside force (the womb) acts upon it. The potential is provided by the mother, not the fetus.
@disturbedking8 Agreed, but Newtonian physics need not apply to poetic interpretation. I'm a rather scientific thinker, but I wasn't being scientific when I said that it had potential. I just meant that life provides a path to death and that "potential" lies somewhere in between.
@thisisexile66 And when earthquakes happen, you can blame god. It's not a literal interpretation of the event, but it's one that is easier to explain.
@disturbedking8 It's not a geologic process, man. It's just a video. It's just an interesting video. It makes you think, even if you don't believe everything that runs through your head. It's entertainment. And for people that choose a poetic interpretation over a literal one, so be it. Whatever gets you through the day. Isn't abstract thought one of the things that makes us human?
I love the serenity that lulls you into the belief that it will end well. The zoom in when he is in the air is so peaceful looking....like he is totally at peace. This goes much deeper than words can ever express and speaks to the underlying fear of our own mortality.
@SpartanLaserCanon Tool's videos are not scary they got a very abstract meaning but not scary at all... this one, on the other hand, was indeed disturbing.
Isis has epic discography (if you count only lp's and not ep's). 5 excellent albums. What other band has made so many Great albums in a row? Not many.
@hally83 I just never got into their ep's. Mosquito Control was just too raw, if thats a good word for it. Isis for me is at its best when its has this "airy" and "light" sound to it. Mosquito Control and some of the other earlier ep's had a bit doomy atmosphere. They are propably decent to good, but I just dont consider them in the same league as the 5 masterpieces Isis put together in their lp's.
@SkruffyTurner man you can't go wrong with any ISIS album, wavering radiant has a great ebb and flow when listened to in entirety, one of my faves along with panopticon, but everything ISIS makes is amazing
@BustedZen I really wanted to get In the Absence of Truth but all they have is Wavering Radient Is there much variety in the songs or do most of them on the album have the same feel/Style
@muslimmetalman I just happened to see this in the suggested videos. I've never heard of Isis before, and I'm an atheist, and im quite pleased with what I hear. The deep growled vocals in the background contrasting with the melodic guitar riffs is beautiful. I don't give a shit if this song has "holy" in the title.
@munson3120 Did the band really say they'll never be making music or touring together again? I mean, never doesn't have to mean never, right? ...I guess I can just watch live performances of ISIS on YouTube...sigh...

@MayhemFan666 I'd suggest starting with Oceanic. And then just go chronological from there, because it's just the right and best and perfect way to get into them :)
@MayhemFan666 It's really hard to say as many of their albums have totally different feels. Oceanic and Panopticon are largely considered their best, but I like Celestial and In The Absence of Truth the best. Celestial and ITAOT are their heaviest and most mellow albums (respectively) if you don't factor in The Red Sea.
I was just recently recommended to check out this band called ATOMIS by a random person on youtube on an isis video. Definitely worth a listen if you really like good post metal. I think they are from Canada and a fairly new, band as I have only been able to find one song by them on the internet. Check them out here : atomis. bandcamp. com It's actually a free download available if you want as well. I enjoy sharing great music finds with others, please feel free to send me some too!
@MrMusicmuseum Thats awesome! I was the one who originally posted about ATOMIS! It's so true, that word of mouth is still the best way to hear of something new. I love finding new great bands too. I also heard that they will be putting out a full length album soon. It's also really cool that the download they have on bandcamp is free....although I always believe in supporting great bands and actually buying their albums.
@Illusorysenses Amen! Ever worked as a recording/touring musician you'll know how tight money is. Even then album sales a re a very small fraction of it. Musicians need all they can get.
It's pretty simple .... you like it, you listen to it ... you don't like it, you don't listen to it AND you don't refer anything like "it sucks" or "you are incredible morons for listening to such bullshit" .... go listen to your music and let us have sex with the devil and go to hell
Was a fan since the beginning, Man they are probably the best Live band out there, theres a vibe that just goes through everyone in the crowd. Its like a state of euphoria. Its so amazing. Sad that they did their thing and now are done. Will never forget them, their sound will stay throughout my body forever.
@stinkfist93420 in my opinion tool comes no where close to isis. i've been listening to tool since 1996 and i can honestly say they are not good as isis. but that's my opinion and opinions are opinions...
@shibbywalkk I agree. Tool has got some really good tracks, but Isis are by far more unique, and I think more musically talented. But they are also different styles of metal/rock music too.
@FunkMastaMegaFlex on a technical level i would say tool is by far more technical. but in terms of creating music that sounds better (if that makes any sense) i would say isis is better at doing that.
Es impresionante este tema.

@MakingYourAmends One person made an ironic remark about having a closed mind.

Isis is an all girl funk band from the 70's. This is garbage.

How the beauty of life can be mangled be the ugliness of society. We miss you, Isis. Powerful video.
emptoiletduck 8 months ago
You people making Tool comparisons do know that they know eachother right? Infact Justin Chancellor plays on an Isis track.
Joegreen29 8 months ago
Beautiful and appalling both at once. It kept me staring wordless and still for the whole time, something not many music videos have the power to do.

Just discovered Isis, really love their sound. But oh my, that scene with the eye at the end...

@ stinkfist: ive listened to Tool since their EP. I respect their new stuff in it's own right too. They were a sorta-intro to proggy tunes.

I also cannot stop watching at this video. It takes so much time to create something beautiful, but only mere seconds to destroy (it).

@bleuisis tool is superior to this though
stinkfist93420 9 months ago
@stinkfist93420 in my opinion tool comes no where close to isis. i've been listening to tool since 1996 and i can honestly say they are not good as isis. but that's my opinion and opinions are opinions...
shibbywalkk 9 months ago
@shibbywalkk I agree. Tool has got some really good tracks, but Isis are by far more unique, and I think more musically talented. But they are also different styles of metal/rock music too.
FunkMastaMegaFlex 8 months ago
@FunkMastaMegaFlex on a technical level i would say tool is by far more technical. but in terms of creating music that sounds better (if that makes any sense) i would say isis is better at doing that.
shibbywalkk 8 months ago 2
@shibbywalkk YES! I really like and respect Tool, but Isis made epic music
