  • Cool video

  • I am going to buy a helmet this weekend, It's going to make me roughly 50 years old. I wish I would have discovered hockey sooner.

  • I fuckin love getting spazzes at jt motivates me to play harder and do my best. Magical helmet... As far as I can see it's just a reebok 7k

  • Awesome video

  • This kids got more brains the most parents and coaches. Way to go.

  • @colenbrak Actually, this was a paper that the kid wrote for school. He put it on youtube so that his aunt, uncle and cousins could see it. So chill and dont jump to conclusions.

  • This kid sounds SO CANADIAN! I love it :)

  • Using your child as an actor to express your views on kids' hockey leagues is pretty pathetic.

  • They yell at me, curse me, and call me names.

Maybe that's why kids who play hockey are so needlessly cruel to kids who don't.

  • Anybody else wonder how he will get a life when he grows up

  • I wonder if the jackasses dis'n this kid realize what a bunch of losers they are, go to the mirror and look at the dumb prick standing there. A person who belittles a child hiding behind a computer is in the same realm as a pedifile hiding in the shadows.

  • your parents make you quit ice?

  • @VoyagerStudios Well said.

  • this kid is so cute!!

  • The funniest thing about parents yelling after the kids is that almost everyone of them never really learned how to play hockey.. everything they know is : pass, shoot or get the puck out of the zone. And when the kids are not doing it perfectly like on TV, they get pissed.

  • ... It was the coolest shit I've ever experienced in my life. It made me feel like an NHLer. The best day of my life was when my little fingers grew enough strength to be able to give the middle finger with my hockey glove on. I remember getting ejected after brawls with parents and fans cursing and throwing shit at me and I had the biggest smile on my face and screamed with my tongue out like a punk rocker.

  • Fuck this shit, I LOVED getting cursed at as a kid out on the ice. It made me get a rush like there no other. It made me play better and stronger. I've had parents curse me in the parking lot while I'm walking to the car with my mother, I've had garbage hit me and other players on my bench and on the ice from the second deck.

  • @soundmasta33 Fuck u, u dont know wat the fuk ur saying!

  • lol im lovin all of the coach haters commenting on this thing.

  • @MrTsmiley1 who cares it was a great video that proved a good point in hockey

  • I am really surprised, this is a great little video. Well done. I would say let's focus on all the positives and try our best to put the negatives aside. We tend to look at them the other way 'round. I played with a toque!

  • aha Miller!! xD

  • Awesome point!!! I know exactly what ur talking about! I just may show this to my coaches...(:

  • Very true. I'm so tired of parents saying mean things to other fans, coaches, refs and even young players. I know many girls who quit hockey at a very young age because of the pressure. Thank you for this video

  • Awesome video well done.

  • good job brother

  • agreed, that is the most true thing i have ever hear! At some of my games i got cornered at the end because they said i deserved it

  • This is perfect. The only thing I wish he would have added was the coaching staff in his speech. Unless of course this boy has only been coached by his parent. I hope this especially applies to the coaches as they seem to have no trouble yelling at other peoples children in game. They seem to miss reserving the hysterics when it comes to kids that try to hurt other kids or their teamates. They never seem to be at all that bothered then. Good job.

  • i will pay you money right now for this magic helmet. oooohhh opps sorry i just drooled because i was so shocked by this magic helmet. if only I were a twenty year old man with a hockey helmet

  • this is what the game is really about.......i hate it when i see parents fight with their sons and daughters over how they played...it;s for fun.......

  • I wear a cage on my helmet when I play hockey too. :D

  • I'm kiinda dis appointed that there are 56 "dislikes" for this......I was quite impressed by this young man doing his best to talk about a very important subject........I guess there's just people on this ol' planet that find bad in everything......or maybe they're just a** holes.....

  • @jester044 well most of those are from s5 year olds that have to insult a 9 year old kid to feel good about themselves. and since if they tried doing it in real life they'd get beat up so they have to come on youtube to do i.

  • I am a minor hockey coach and I sent a link to this clip to all the parents who have kids in my group.

  • Thank-you, young man. I keep hoping that if we hear this message enough times by enough people then maybe, just maybe it will finally sink in.

  • Charles Andriole: Yale Youth Hockey, Mites Commissioner

  • Wonderful...A very important message...Wisdom for all to learn from and live by...The Magic Hockey Helmet is a metaphor for the Yale Youth Hockey Philosophy..."Hockey with Balance"..."Competition with Sportsmanship and Dignity"..."Fun".

  • Smart boy!

  • in tbe beggining he said sean, tara My names sean & my sis name is Tara!!

  • @shrimpykingv are you serious? this kid is 9 years old and your giving him shit for making good points? nicee real mature if you think its that bad why are you wasting your time commenting???

  • Not bad kid. USA hockey should do this professionally staring you in a commercial. Now get out there and don't make any mistakes. We're all counting on you up here in the stands. ;)

  • the real deal

    ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170506738117&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT#ht_500wt_1154

  • miller, that was really good(:

  • wow.. miller i just met you, but i have to say, this is really good;p

  • man miller this is awsome man and 411000 veiws thats sick

  • i wasted 2 mins of my life i thought you were going to wear it

  • U suck like hell

  • this definatley isnt his perception. but yeah good point thats brung across.

  • @MrHockeyhabs obviously you've got no knowledge of canadian hockey

  • geez, its true. hockey parents are outta control.

  • this is the most retarded thing ever! u suck

  • @sk8boi1231 he's 9! jesus christ show respect. he has a perception for how the game should be played. at least respect his opinion if you dont agree with it instead of ratting on a 9 year old. this kid shows lots of thought and imagination and spirit for the lovely game of hockey. he has more perception then you'll ever have. to think of this is truly astounding

  • This is why the National Alliance for Youth Sports was created!

  • ...

  • That helmet isnt just for big hockey hits it also helps when he runs into walls around the house!

  • I coach tyke hockey and I see it every Saturday during our games Its disgusting.

  • True but kinda stupid

  • funny (but not too smart)

  • wow, stupid

  • Play on hockey dude. my son is on Atom league and I have so much fun watching them. Fortunately, they don't have magic helmets. Watching the kids made me love the game more. have fun and skate hard

  • all true

  • lol speech for school

  • This is so heart breaking . :( This kid has such mature insight .

  • This kid is gonna be a announcer some day. Perfect facial expressions at 9 years old.

  • I just played thus kid I'm in Sudbury Canada your actually pretty good #2

  • well then you must type bad cuse you have -3 xD

  • those parents will even go so far as to force their children to make youtube videos for their own benefit! curse themmmm

  • so true. everything that this kid describes is the reason why i never played sports. i just stuck to academic teams lol.

  • This video is sooo amazing! and true.

  • Well put...I'd like to add that the same goes for referees for any sport. As soon as you put the zebra stripes on, people think it gives them permission to harass them. We need to realize that the reason why we play sports in the first place is for FUN.

  • well,i hope that message is heard loud and clear!! not only by hockey parents & coaches, but by all adults involved in any form of youth sports!!!!!!! this should be an international public service spot!! that is one kid who will grow up respecting himself& others!!good to see!! kudos to the parents!!!!!

also; in regards to some of the negative & mean comments i've seen posted, here,

they are ludacris!!! this kid is more articulate than many adults claim to be!! just the truth! peace! TAKE CARE!

  • Well said and well done!

  • That's a very well-written and presented speech! I'm sure that my English teacher would give it an A+. :)

I don't live in Canada, but, I do still agree with the message.

    Fantastic job! :D

  • He's 9!!!

  • Wow. ☺

  • You said it, kid!

  • amazing. i respect this boy so much.

  • The smartest, boldest nine-year-old I've seen!

  • Bless his little heart! I hope all sports parents watch this.

  • Mini Don Cherry

  • Exactly the same reason why I quit soccer. Even my own dad took it too seriously. I almost sprained my ankle and what did he tell me? "Suck it up! Take it like a man and get back in there!" I was on an eight-year old all-girls team, dad. Thanks for noticing.

  • It doesn't matter who wrote these words. It's the message that needs to be heard and more importantly understood.

Parents simply need to grow up and stop trying to vicariously live out their fantasies through their children, all because those parents failed to excell in their youth at sports.

  • good point. wats sad though, alot of ppl dont realize its just a game. wats even worse, these ppl r, like the kid said, yellin @ each othr, cussin out the kids, etc. when the kids just wanna have fun and play sports, not get strangled just cuz they made a mistake.

  • he's got a point, I don't care if he wrote the whole thing by himself or if he had help, the message itself dosn't chage

  • If you were learning how to spell your name at 9, you must have some mental retardation... most ppl learn to read at 4-5... and learn to write from 5-6.... I know many ppl who could write their name at the age of three, and read fully by the age of 4... so he could most definitely have thought of this himself. That said, his parents obviously had a hand in writing this eloquent speech, but I would assume the idea for this video was entirely this young man's idea.

  • Dude calm the fuck down I was just kidding, I cant believe you would honestly think that a normal person learns to spell their name at 9, what are you smoking?!

  • Lots and lots of opium.

  • Totally true. They have those magic helmets in peewee football, too. It ruined the game for a friend of mine who had real talent.

  • wow your on aol news

  • what a sweet kid. his parents must be incredibly proud. :-)

  • great video buddy i wish the hockey moms would stop too i play AA so i would know

  • Awesome job :-)

  • are you from elk valley

  • haha this is so awesome, i love the way he talks

  • this is basically why i stopped playing sports and started being lazy

but i was playing Basketball and Baseball

  • Just another poor kid with a mom or dad living thru them funny everyone of them thinks thier child will make the NHL...

I have been to a lot of games and its sad

how the mom & dads yell at coaches & other players. Get a life it's a fucking sport!

  • My God!. My Canadian tongue has been severed (almost). I am speechless.

How many times did I want to take my late 70's helmet off and beat it over that team mates father/mother's head.

For my son, I do what my dad did, stay the flog out in the lobby. That way I don't beat up some of the stupid parents out in the stands mouthing off (women included).

Geesh,,Hockey is between the player, the coach (not 12 coaches) the teammates

    and the other team.

  • Coming from a former semi-pro player and now coach, trainer and manager...this is fantasic...parents need to let their kids PLAY the GAME (note the words PLAY and GAME) don't let your ego's as parents take over...they are children...they may be doctors, teachers, coaches or (god forbid) lawyers someday...but for now just let them play the GAME. (like Monopoly but with full contact!)

  • your pretty tough..

trying to make fun of a 10 year old..

    time to grow up

  • @OSTCJ

  • @OSTCJ I would disagree. I believe YOU have that spot nailed.

  • Idk Great message

  • All one take? Well done, and I agree.

    Awesome job :)

  • nah that kid is right

  • u are like nine yrs old and you are saying''those were the days''

  • Comment removed

  • It does not make a differince when whering a helmet or not. Playes who do not where helmets dont get treated better they just get the shit kicked out of them.

  • ahahahaha, your a fuckin idiot. this nine year old kid even knows. it doesnt really have anything to do with a helmet. its mostly just saying how much pressure people are putting on kids when they play hockey.

  • thats so cute

  • this sucks! wat a wierdo

  • just dont wear it and get a diffrent helmet

  • Join the face book group

  • damn u can hella here his accent

  • nice. i applaud thee. that was a long and insightful speech for a nine-year-old.

  • wow that is funny but sometimes that is true when u play on a travel team
