it's possible to do 3.6 with only 2. put the left point one in the top right corner and just use the two swirly ones. then place them so they are taking half of the beam each. make them both really big but not overlapping. put on near the red circle and the other between the two yellows. move them around a bit to get it.
i beat 3:6 a different way i only used 2 of the 3 motion circle things

the one but last act 3.6 or .7 i managed to do with using only 2 of total 3 pieces given :D this game is awesome :P

my 3:6 looks wierd. the blue and the yellow doesent stick together and have diferent zize!
