  • Where can I get this track?

  • @mecaguy03 For track title and related album info see video description. Try googling Throbbing Gristle, There might be a site flogging their wares...Good luck.

  • @mecaguy03 In hell!!

  • thats really polluting

  • @asdasd9595 take a bath ya dirty hippy

  • I see don't see why workers bother to wear long pants :O

  • So sad to see so many of these jobs going to china, please bring them home Mr. President! These idiotic trade agreements are what started our problem, how can they think signing more trade agreements are going to help? NAFTA is what started all loss of American jobs! Gos Bless America!!

  • I can see top gear premiering a lambo or a jag here.

  • TG coined the term "industrial music". It doesn't get any more industrial than a blast furnace! THANKS

  • Great choice of soundtrack I didn't think anyone else knew who they were.

  • The most beautiful place to work.

  • Great footage!

  • Good Day A company I used to work for used a few ingots from that mill. I recall the company name on the certification papers..(alloys in the "4000" series..) BSS & Corus. Some of the parts we made may yet be flying around the world... I know the "sick feeling" of the (needless) loss of large companies like that. We had 1 of our furnaces shut down a year or so ago..the process took a few months..apparently you cannot just "shut the gas off" Boy,.. the workers were upset eh..
  • That place was full of scum bags who thought they were something they were obviously not. Good steel makers! Fucking scum should have took a pay cut!

  • is that throbbing gristle?

  • @tekragnarok Read the video description and all will be revealed.

  • @loxi59tica -> typical youtube attention deficit, must read descriptions in full to save face from now on. Thank you for pointing out the obvious in just regarding a description at a glance.

  • @tekragnarok yes it is

  • I think it looks welcomeing. xD

  • For some reason I just LOVE the atmosphere in this video. So mesmerizing and oddly calming.

  • welcome to hell boys

  • sadly, it's another salamander now

  • @ProfessorIgor Which is to be reignited next year if all goes to plan.

  • @loxi59tica is TATA planning on relighting her ? that would be awesome.

  • @ProfessorIgor Thai firm Sahaviriya Steel (SSI) is rumoured to be close to signing a deal this month.

  • you can restart a furnace...how else do you maintain casing etc

  • pink floyd?

  • Hell of a job composing this. Pardon the pun.

  • sorry to haer they closed the works down , i worked in ravenscraig , we were totaly devastated when it closed , i still miss the works and it closed in 1992 ,

  • Cameron says that if elected, he would have to make some "very difficult and tough decisions" on spending. THAT PROBABLY MEANS YOUR JOB FOLKS...OR YOUR BUSSINESS WILL BE AFECTED BY LESS DISPOSABLE INCOME IN THE ECONOMY! Gordon Brown has done much to turn round the global financial crisis, a vote for the Tories will plunge us back to the bad old days of social division and North-South divide.. backwards

Nothing fixes a thing so intensely in memory as the wish to forget it

  • That was amazing. The music combined with the footage really showed how ominous and creepy these places can be. great job.

  • Great visuals, what was the music?

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but is there not a bigger demand for steel in the UK now than there has been for years?

  • Yes my friend, china and india have bought up the rights to all the steel it's a nightmare over here as uk manufacturing cant get steel fast enough, and the metal prices are the highest ever it should be boom time for places like redcar!

  • I worked as an apprentice in Round oak steelworks in the black country near birmingham, It was an enormous steel works with healthy orders and like ravenscraig could at the time produce increadibly specialist steels that at the time only britain could do but maggie screwed that up for us. regards to all you guys on Teeside from the Black country or whats left of it!

    Paul

  • I think the true hell will start for a lot of Teesside communities, now that the plant is gone.

  • Check out Youngstown bruce springsteen on youtube. A song that depicts the closing down and consequences of closing down the steel works in Youngstown, Ohio.

Good luck to all workers losing their jobs worldwide

  • I worked at the steelworks in the mid 90s for a few days as a contractor and was amazed by the enormous machines and the size of the site. So sad to see all this go to waste. Good luck to all those who are to loose their jobs. Brown wont save the place, more interested in saving his job!

  • This is the governments only chance to shine with the British public, if Brown came in, and he could no doubt about it and saved this place it would be a vote winner for Labour, problem is is the will there.

  • What will happen to the BOS plant and Beam Mill now ??

  • Comment removed

  • The beam mill is now part of Scunthorpe sections and will survive for now. The BOS and CONCAST are history.

  • It's not just Brown, its not even Labour - remember Ravenscraig, Black Bob and the Tories shut that and wiped out steep production in Scotland in 1992. Ravenscraig had 3 blast furnaces and recent studdies suggest that Ravenscraig would have been able to thrive economically due to the specialist steel they produced there. the problem is the politicians regardless of their party - they are all useless, whats worse is the average person accepts this rubbish MP's have been spouting for years!

  • if they shut the furnace down it cannot be restarted ever evidently.

we will be at the mercy of foreign industry, held to ransom, brown sold our gold cheap, he allowing our industry to dissappear and he signed us away to the EU: who does he work for and what is his agenda, I believe he is trying to ruin us and is working for some secret euro society, some masonic evil corporation. soon we will be to poor and hungry to notice any government sins.

  • Steady on.

  • The furnace can be restarted ! it is being tapped in order that it can come back on.

The Bessamer process turned iron into steel but was not the reason for the shutting of furnaces as you will always need iron to make steel ( unless you just use scrap steel ) .

The Bessamer process was superceded by the open hearth and then the BOS process .

  • not according to many that I have spoken to.

  • well they are wrong ! the furnace is being tapped and then plugged and staves repaired in order that it can stand idle, this is info from the guy on doing the tap, maybe he is wrong !

Furnaces are tapped all over the world, Scunthorpe has one of theirs waiting to come back on. The furnace will be able to come back on if there is a buyer or Corus opens us up again, both of which I doubt will happen now.

  • @tpvalley Take off the blinkers mate...

  • @tehabc

no blinkers, I see big picture, our industries have been distroyed by both unions and government and it is to make us reliant on others to force the one world government agenda and make us stay in EU.

  • @tpvalley Not true. Blast furnaces have to be shut down from time to time in order to be relined with new firebrick, although it is a very involved process to blow them back in again.

As for the rest of it, that doesn't sound much closer to the truth, either. If you want to talk about disappearing industry, go back to Thatcher at least.

  • @Sylderon

brown and thatcher- all politicians with only an illusion of differing agendas, all of them are the same, all pushing for the NWO by making rich countries poorer and poor ones richer so we r all on equal footing, the recession, the EU, everything is for this cause even high fuel prices, look how much foreign aid we give away- again bleeding the wealth away, even the war on terror is for the NWO.

and the furnace- shut it down- u must replace the bricks.

  • @tpvalley Actually, for almost every country, foreign aid is just a tiny fraction of the overall budget, not even a percent in the case of the United States. And do you have any evidence to back up these ridiculous claims? Any explanation of how politicians with such radically-different policies could be secretly in agreement on a secret agenda? Any motive for them to act this way? If not, please stop wasting my time with your tinfoil-hattery.

  • @Sylderon

my opinion is based on observations of policy and behaviour across the world, the motive is a one world government, this I believe by observing trends and the enforced policies of america, have u not heard of the NWO? greed a zionism are the motives, plus a phsycopathic bindaberg group profits from all of this always.

the policies politicians pretend to have r just propoganda, apart from tokens all of them have a secret agenda.

and wasting your time? it was u who asked me

  • @tpvalley So, in other words, you're an anti-Semitic nut with no evidence whatsoever, other than perhaps some snippets from "Protocols of the Elders of Zion". Thanks for clearing things up.

  • @Sylderon

    no.

your post is hypocritical, u accuse me of making conclusions without any evidence, yet u have no idea what evidence I have or what I have observed other than a few lines in short summary to try and open your eyes.

Your ignorance is astounding, zionism and judaism r 2 different things, there r many jews who r anti zionists.

u r simply trying to argue to make yourself appear clever, ur only motive is vanity and ego

u say "dont waste my time" then waste mine, silly little person

  • @tpvalley I'm hardly a hypocrite. You have offered no evidence whatsoever to support you position, I called you out on it, and now you're all pissy. If you do have something substantial, please, by all means, share it. As far as vanity and ego, I'm not so insecure that I need to be posturing to a bunch of people I don't know on an Internet message board.

  • @tpvalley they will be fireing it up on the first of march i know this as i have just been working on it for the last 5 weeks doing a refirb glad im back home now just incase it goes BANG when they start it up

  • @TheShotblaster

so do they have to warm it slowly?

something to do with insulation tiles?

I like them locos they use for the molten iron etc, love to know what engines they have.

  • i see that you are intrested in the blast furnace but i have not been round there i have been in other parts its a brilliant place to be but dangerus if you go in you can go 70m up and see all of teeside brilliant veiws at night cozy over ladels and torpdos bright red

  • @trialsteam How did you get in? I'm desperate to get into there

  • I got in on a training scheme, but they may do guided tours not sure, some steels works have.

the beam mill is insane, huge glowing bars shooting back and forth being rolled and cut.

  • Excellent video!
