Bravo, Madame Donose !
This is not the best scenery and costumery for this marvellous work of Rossini, but the voices... Especially Mironov and Donose are the stars of this production. I very like Donose with her good technique and (also!) her variations! Closed my eyes, listening to this and thought: well melady, you have the tone of voice of great Helga Müller with the pathos of Diana Montague and the style of superb Jennifer Lamore. And... I'm astonished! Mille bravi per voi! :)
@italomelomane Jennifer Larmore, Federica von Stade, Anna Caterina Antonacci and Malena Emman all opt for the same ending in this aria (at least on the videos on youtube). I'm sure there are others that do it too, not to mention the fact that Caballe and Sutherland sometimes changed vowels or just hit a note instead of singing the word. I don't understand why you're making such a big deal out of this. Get over it. Full stop.
@mekarts2 Joyce di Donato, Cecilia Bartoli, Luciana Serra, Renata Tebaldi and more more others not. Libretto is not opinable. If you prefer listen Amleto or Dante Alighieri with new words no problem for me. Anyway the final SI ("yes" if you speak Italian) is a bullshit in my opinion and in effect Jacopo Ferretti (librettista) wrote "palpitar".
@italomelomane I understand what you are saying, but it's just a minor change to the libretto. And frankly your comparison with Dante Aligheri is again a bit over the top, but if that's how you like to get you're point across .... I know what "si" means in Italian, but I also know that lots of singers make changes to the libretto (most of the time minor, like in the present case of Donose, or like I said before Caballe and Sutherland) and I don't find it all that disturbing.
