Heavens to Jean Hardcastle! How cool to see a young & sexy Judi Dench making a guest appearance on the show in this thrilling clip! I recenly browsed thru her autobiography at a local bookstore & she mentions acting in this highly acclaimed show (there's even a still in her book from that episode!). THANKS for posting this fascinating footage! CHEERS! :-)
Wow, a skinny Brian Blessed, and Judi Dench in her late twenties/early thirties. (sexy) Thanks! The irony of this post is I didn't know Blessed was on this old early 60's UK cop show until he decided to sell his soul to the devil on "City Hospital". Before that moment, I happily remembered him from Blackadder Series one, and "I Claudius". I made the mistake of watching "TV Heaven Telly Hell" on Youtube. I thought most American reality shows were bad. "City Hospital", is below low!
@strangeones4 On Youtube you can find the obscure theme song from very short lived American TV show called "Mr Broadway". It's composed by Dave Brubeck, and worth your while to find.
@dasgilde, it would not have been problem if English men had stayed in England - but, they went all over the world (and wreaked havoc). I figure the world is just returning the kindness...
I met Brian Blessed when he was in the then Midland Bank in Newcastle upon Tyne. He was appearing at the Theatre Royal with Peggy Mount. He is a gentleman!
I remember there was a Scouser in Hong Kong when I was a squaddy who taught us the words. From memory: Johnny Todd he stole a Z Car, Just to take his bird a ride, He got caught by Z Victor, Now he's doin' bird inside . . .
I remember this as a little boy it was a great influence on me to join up. I was told that due to tv being in black and white the cars they used were a light shade of yellow as this did not reflect back as much. Anyone confirm this?
Hardly Slider.......no PACE, no performance targets or political correctness back in the 1960's. Mind you they still occasionally hanged the odd innocent person and kicked the occasional confessions out of suspects. But we're told you could leave your front door open.
You can't. Legally anyway. Many of the early ones were broadcast 'live' and no recordings were kept. Shame. Some of the later ones were pre-recorded and therefore tuen-up on VHS/DVD.
this tune will always be famously associated with Everton and not Watford who don't even come out to the tune but only play it for 1 minute 10 mins before kick off
Apparently, hearing this music still puts the sh*ts up Brian Blessed and the other actors from the days when it was all broadcast live from the studio not pre-recorded
I second that emotion! Looks like it was an intelligent & well acted series! Wish it has been shown here in the US! If it ever was, I must have missed it.
I'd love to fuck Judy Dench, shes a milf!

I forgot to include the name of the late actor who played the part of PC Ian Sweet. He was Terence Edmond (b Novermber 1939 - d March 2009). RIP
Gavestonful 5 months ago
Sadly PC Sweet is no longer with us. The actor who played him in the Z Cars series died in March 2009 at the early age of 69. RIP
