  • Engine driven compressors for the win! Convert your air conditioning pump to be an air pump

  • @danwat1234 Very good point, the scroll pump that an air conditioning unit uses can supply your compressed air needs if converted. There are a few things that stop this method from becoming a main stream conversion though.

Mainly, air conditioning is a fantastic feature to have in a vehicle and secondly, to custom fit a second air conditioning pump to your fan belts (if you want air conditioning also) is not possible on most modern engines, there is simply not enough room in the engine bay.

  • Onboard air systems can save alot of time out on the trail with the nightly checks and maintenance or track side repairs.

We always carry a pneumatic ratchet, rattle gun, air blower & tyre inflation gun in our tool kit. It is suprising how easy it can be to clean out the air filter box, brakes, blow excessive dirt and grass out of your radiator and off your exhaust.

My favorite tool is the air ratchet, it makes repairs so much easier. You can get into tighter spaces and it is alot faster too.

  • All that for cleaning one brake disc?

  • @KillerJoeFIN - It is very important to keep the dirt, sand and mud out of your brakes when offroad. It contributes to reducing the overall performance and stopping power of the brakes, not to mention it can take alot longer for the heat to dissipate from the brakes between use.

This video was taken in the Flinders Ranges in South Australia, such a beautiful part of the world. But definitely not a place that you want to lose your brakes coming down a mountain.
