  • ¡Maestro!!this music! While combing hair I listen and getting high of all the patterns when suddenly this bizarre apocaliptic vision of the forecasted last days of humanity (unforntunately it's my birthday)filling the imaginary firmament with wood? and I listen as it approaches, and it looks like a flying boat? a flying ark! oh no, it appears to be a raft with Jesus! it's huge!!when it smoothly hovers towards us I start to cry of happiness seeing it's powered by a huge church organ driven by ..

  • Also the tempo on this is perfect .The versions with orchestra & organ have tympani too loud so the wonderful relentless melody is drowned out & they are also are usually played too fast. This music is so complex the last thing it needs is to be rushed. Well done :-)

  • I feel sorry for beings on other planets. The will never get a chance to hear the miracle of Bach's music. The distiller of the essence of musical craft. The most stupendous miracle in all music.

  • Is the Wendy Carlos _Switched On Bach 2000_ recording, done in meantone tuning, not circular tone tuning, slowed down?

  • Very good! The visualization is quite fitting too.

  • This is much much better than Walter Carlos's version.

  • MAGNIFICENT!!!

  • Wendy Carlos here: put the usual in front: v=UY1gh-wqz7Y and remember in 1968:

1 No polyphonic synthesizer If you tried to play a chord, you'd get only the bass line, meaning each line of each instrument had to be recorded separately onto a separate track of tape.

    2. Only 4 tracks used at any one time. For something like this, you had to record backwards---first lay down the part that would get most buried in the final mix and work back.

    3. Couldn't hear instrument while recording.

  • subscriber FOR LIFE. keep up!

  • I love the he almost mechanical nature of this rendition. Bach doesn't need people trying to show off or be expressive. Just let the purity of the music shine though as this does. As did switched on Bach.

  • Folly! This isn't how music is meant to be played!

  • When I hear Bach is makes most other composer's works seem like trivia. No one can hold a candle to him. Especially Mozart. Christ he's so over rated.

  • lead part too airy, constant breath, needs to be crisper. mid sections and bass work... jmo.

  • I'm an agnostic but Bach can almost make me believe in God.

Great job! Obviously a labor of love.

  • @PunguinYoga I don't know what I am, but I believe in Bach.

  • @Cyfrlingk I know what you mean.

  • Best synthesized rendition of this peice I have ever heard. Just wonderful....

  • Just found your videos tonight. Thanks for posting, I'll be listening to all of them. You give Walter/Wendy a run for his/her money.

  • Amazing. I have this version on the switched on Bach Album. So great! Thanks for posting this!:D

I would love to have this as a ringtone! The only problem is, I'd never answer my phone. I'd have to let it play lol.

  • @MilitaryMan68564 This isn't the version on Switched on Bach. This rendition is nice, but if suffers from lack of dynamics, and the instruments seem static, that is they do not seem connected to each other (I know I am explaining this badly, sorry :) ).

  • If synthesizers were around in the 18th century, you can be sure Bach would have used them!

  • you know it!

  • Wonderful. Bach on a contemporary instruments makes for a timeless combination.

  • BRILLIANT Thanks for posting it

  • Thank you so much fot sharing this wonderfull music. thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • incredible efect!!!

  • My wife and I watched AUGUST RUSH last night-it had a theme simular to this one!

  • yup, the movie essentially stole this... and it's the same theme in Bach's Partita No. 3 for Unaccompanied Violin

  • Check out Wendy Carlos's "Switched on Bach" now that's what it CAN sound like.

  • wow, the music is almost set free, it is outside the box, at least. It is refreshing to the power of 10. I feel that we are delivered ever closer to Bach's vision, whatever it is.

  • Wonderful! I would like this instead of modern music (although this seems modern enough ...).

  • Orgasm!!!! Awesome graphics - how long did it take to do them? The playing was superb - bravo, my good man. Simply smashing video - 1000 stars.

  • O > M > G

How can Bach do that?! GOD LIKE!

  • its got a wendy carlos feel to it

  • I'm reminded of early Gallifreyan explorers with this music/graphic combination.

  • YES!

  • oh yes it remind me wendy carlos too

  • GREAT !

  • it reminds me a wendy carlos version

  • Excellent sound, I like the video too.

  • wonderful!! Bravo!!!

  • I'm on shrooms listening to this. the vid is awesome the colors are reaching past my screen. you have no idea how awesome this is. thank you!!!

  • That would be cool to try!

  • wow. are you serious? I'd like to experience that.

  • yeah it's great. the whole switched on bach album is quite nice. just go to the visualization with windows media or winamp and hit full screen and listen and watch. it's incredible.

  • Fantastic effort! But I find the playing to be a bit stiff.

  • I find what's in my pants to be a bit stiff, great playing!

  • absolutely carlos worthy!

  • Not Carlos, Not even close. Sorry.

  • it's pretty close. the carlos version is just fatser.

  • I would also say not even close to the W Carlos style. To be very specific, the orchestration doesn't change at all in this version. Carlos uses a very specific hocketing technique she learned from studying the works of Ravel. There is zero hocketing in this version. Also missing is Carlos's use of shifting timbres courtesy of a coincident switch and dynamic and timbral shaping of lines using velocity sensitivity on the keyboard.

  • @secoff Well, everybody can't be as good as WC. This is what I could manage and it's free for anyone who wants to listen or download.

  • This is one of my favorites here on YouTube. Thanks for synthesizing. It is quite amazing. I am a big fan of Bach so it is no surprise that I love Bach synthesized or not synthesized!

  • Symply..... soverbius!!! Great!!!

  • Ouch, amazing!

This is more than beautiful, this is Bach!!!

    Marvelous!!!

    Marvelous!!!

    Marvelous!!!

  • Marvellous!

  • Wonderful music!!

    Ulf Sawert

  • suuuuuuperb Donniem

  • If all the great composers could be raised from the dead in today's day in age with the musical technology we have they would have the time of their lives!

  • Yes! PRO TOOLS in the hands of these guys? Wow!

  • J.S.Bach would be a synth.fan !

Great original and matching rendition -

congrats from a Bach lover =

  • That was absolutely wonderful! Unfortunately, I had to throw away all my old Switched-on Bach records because they were all moldy! It's so wonderful to listen to Bach again on the synthesizer. Thanks sooooo much!!

  • Wendy Carlos remastered the albums for cd and have been available for quite some time.

  • You didn't try washing your LP's with soapy water, rinsing well and drying? That usually works well.

  • No, I didn't know about that. Too late now though. It was the album covers that were a mess, unfortunately.

  • Excellent work! I like WC's rendition a lot but yours is even better:-).

  • wow, great!

  • If anyone filed copyright infringement against you, it was wrongful. It is an outrage that anyone would, they are so plainly wrong. I can guarantee that they are not a respresentative of Carlos, nor even familiar with her work. Your recordings are plainly not hers, and viable in their own right.

  • According to Youtube it was Serendip LLC that filed the complaint.

Maybe it was because I mentioned WC in the video comment... But then thousands and thousands of videos here are copyright infringements since they name other composers and artists in their comments.

I think it was a very strange way to act.

  • It's VERY strange, as Serendip apparently represents Carlos! That makes me angry. I am going to try to contact her. I have spoken to her via e-mail before. This is outrageous.

  • GREAT!

OMG, you HAVE to let me use this music in one of my future videos!!

I will give you full credit, of course.

  • All my music is free to use for anyone. I do not believe in copyright.

  • Cool.

Please disregard my Email requesting permission. ^_~

  • That would be know as copy-left then! Seriously!

    Good work!

  • @Drummelskrudd ohhh goody! cuz i'm doin' a porno and using this as bg music! XD love the song man, great work!!!

  • @chivocircle Sure! Use it in your movie. Send a copy of it to me when it's finished! :)
