  • second verse

  • Not a freestyle

  • damm:D

  • where did you get this? does anybody know where to get another better resolution of this? cause this shit is amazing

  • i would love to hear what westwood said once nas finished :P was probably speechless!

  • yeah the first verse is from memory lane, but he clearly freestyles the second half off the top of his head..i dont think i ever hear rappers these days freestyle off the top of their dome and nas did it and was still nasty

  • anyone know the 2nd beat?

  • There are some uneducated niggas below me. Yeah he's spitting the second verse from memory lane(not "it aint hard to tell" like wutang1300 said) but listen to the rest of the video you impatient dumbasses. He's only using memory lane to get him into the flow of rapping. Listen to the rest of the video and then try to complain how its not a freestyle.

  • THIS IS THE FIRST VERSE FROM MEMORY LANE. WTF. this is stupid as fuck

  • @lemonkid44 i know for real wtf? these arent real nas fans they havent ever hear illmatic

  • this was his verse from memory lane fools

  • This isnt a freestyle this was his verse in Aint Hard to Tell

  • Comment removed

  • when im drunk i stagger writing lyrics with a dagger!

  • this from memory lane

  • @fkldjk

    only the first verse.

  • @Hawkbiter Are you stupid look up the lyrics

  • i love him hes the best and sings so well wow this is awsome i wish i could meet him and stop dreaming about him everyday wow this is awsome holly cow guys

  • You all say he sucks at freestyle because he screws up and stutters---this is a REAL FREESTYLE. No memorized lines and no blackberry... Meaning he thought of this during the interview and on the ride there etc... and probably thought of it before and filled it in with other lines and rhymes. He spit like 32 bars here (64 lines) and try doing 64 lines without messing up. Now do it with powerful lyrics like this. ((He met westwood before illmatic was put out, thats why each verse is different q.))

  • @Hawkbiter this isn't a freestyle, its a freeverse. I've heard the same lyrics in a song of his. True talk.

  • @akak05

Only the first verse is from a song.

  • what beat is he rapping to?

  • @TheArtistKey Beanie Sigel ft Jay-Z - Still Got Love for You ..... not sure what the other beat is that mixes in @ 0:40

  • @TheArtistKey biz markie make the music with your mouth

  • @ToaztBusterz wrong jay z disliked this video

  • @spazizzle but Hov and Nas are now cool (Y) They even did 2 songs together

  • @Timberlaketothiworld yeah, but the thing is Nas Built Jay z, and He (Jay Z) copied more popular artist's lines to rise up. Think about it Empire State of Mind?

Copied from New York state of mind. He's unoriginal, the Blue print was a Krs Album

  • @spazizzle jay z is a grimmy mc shut the fuck punk, nas is my fav mc but dont hate on jay z you stupid fuck u dunno shit bout hiphop u fake bitch

  • @spazizzle wrong just so you know nas is signed to jayz's label

  • @gisellefontalvo90 Nas is not signed to Jay-Zs label..

  • @stopwhining1 its not letting me post the article but do your research look it up its on mtv news

  • @gisellefontalvo90 LOL @ "do your research".. You are referring to his Def Jam signing right? You should probably do your own research.. Yes, Nas was signed to Def Jam in 2006 when Jay-Z was President (and when L.A. Reid was Chairman and Chief Executive (in other words, over Jay-Z)).. Jay-Z left Def Jam shortly after that signing (2007-08) and Nas is about to be on his way out too.

  • he signed him in 2006

  • @ToaztBusterz lil wayne and dipset lmao

  • when he finaly started freestyle'n that shit was wack but nas my man 50grand

  • hip hop aint betta den tha current date their so much out quit hatin still stuck in da old days get ya head out da sand n take a look aroun at all da talent DONT disrespect hip hop like dat stupid punk

  • god this is insane. and cormega, beutifull use to be my favorite beat when i was younger

  • nasty nas still reppin

  • nas dies hip hop dies. J.cole is talented like nasty nas back when desyphering lyrics in his dypers. But then hes a slave to jay-z right now, so he got to be careful and not let him get told how to go. he got to stay loyal to the game and not take the fast lane to fame with petty lyrics and voice tricks allong the line of kanye and lil wayne.

  • @Beatdown2k8

Make the Music - Biz Markie

    Tragedy Khadafi - Grand Groove

    Beautiful Mind - Cormega

Saigon - Out in the Park

  • This is actually a freestyle cause he messes up

    I really respect that.

  • this shit is CRAZY! nas is the man. his lyrics are unbelievably insanely sick. i remember the rhythm in the background. but from what song was it from? anyone tell me please?

  • @geosthatkidd

  • not a freestyle. dont freak out.

  • @12jamo21 first verse is from memory lane but the second part is a freestyle.

Anybody know when this was ?

  • @12jamo21 Yea it is.

  • i still got love for u- beanie sigel and jay z

  • what song did he just killl?

  • YOU COULDN'T COUNT HOW MANY NIGGAS MY BERRETTA SCARRED

  • when u watch this, n then watch drake on westwood, u think to yourself "wtf happened to hip hop"

  • Lyrical God.

  • 10 times better then when drake was with tim westwood

  • Nas never seizes to amaze me, this is my first time hearing and damn he is mad nice............

  • this is where j cole got his beat 'Lights please' from. listen to the chords on the piano from this beat.

  • @Novalogicss It's from "Ike's Mood" by Isaac Hayes. Been sampled in dozens of hip hop songs.

  • @Novalogicss na this sounds more like styles p blow my mind

  • No one can spit better than Nas! No one is on his level of lyricism, no one! He is extremely intellectual & has so much knowledge & understanding. Truly the greatest lyricist & MC all time, yes he surpasses Rakim. I have every album from both MCs trust me, I would know.

  • this is a verse in memory lane

  • @nrocksdrums14 the first verse is but i never heard the end b4

  • what beat is that the beginning?

  • Nas is the God's Son

  • #OMG this is FIRE!!!! off the top of his head. DAMN NAS A BEAST

  • whats the instrumental to this?

  • dont get me wrong nas is one of the best rappers alive! but he said the first half of this freestyle on one song then he said the entire second half of it on another freestyle he made in 93 he started to stumble and fuck up the freestyle when he actually started freestyling...

  • A real freestyle as u can see Nas studders a bit, real of the dome, NAS is the best!

  • mad genious wish i was talented like taht

  • oh shit he almost choked

  • @HonorsMusic204 oh shit he almost choked ON TIM WESTWOOD DICK!

  • Why is this so good?

Nas is nothing less than a hip-hop god

  • nas' writtens are so amazing that he might as well freestyle them.

  • freestyle at the end was nice

  • first of all, a freestyle isnt written. but when people freestyle they resort to rhymes and shit that they already know sounds good together, the whole first part of this is from songs nas wrote but the true artform is being able to put it all together to make it something new and something that flows

  • a freestyle doesnt have to be off your head it can be written.

  • you can tell this is legitamitly freestyled because he studerrs and takes long breaths and breaks

  • this aint no freestyle, the first bit up till the part where he says "it goes on till the break of dawn..." is the first verse of memory lane from the illmatic album

  • how does that make a difference? its still freestyle you fuckwit

  • a freestyle is something youve prepared, or something from the top of ur head not a written verse from one of ur songs FUCKWIT haha wtf?

  • He did it off the top of the head he was remembering some words and creating new ones, you are being fucking pedantic.

  • @dazza2610 he did that freestyle before illmatic was even out

  • His first couple of verses were written but not the last one.

  • yea the first verse was from memory lane, but everything else was a freestyle. like the dude said cuz he be studderrin n shit

  • @dazza2610 it's still a fresstyle nga.y'all act like every rapper freestyle off the top..well point of correction..just because lil flip can freestyle off the top doesn't mean that he's better than Nas or lupe fiasco. a freestyle can be written as well. jay-z premediatate, lil wayne too premeditate, and so is other rappers as well.

  • Nas himself said in his song "Who Killed It" where he has a woman represent the state of hip hop :

"But before she drops the money bag on the floor and died

She said 'if you really love me I'll come back alive' "

If the new generation that aspires to become mcs have proper drives, i.e. to make art, to spread a message, to pass knowledge, then hip hop is reborn THAT simply - YOU CAN'T KILL IT.

Nas is a legend and there's likely a hip hop messiah among us, a vanguard to lead us...

  • I never heard Nas actually come of the top before, good shit. 1

  • when nas dies rap will die..haha nigga is nasty nas that!

  • duz any1 knw wat the beat is calld?......plz....

  • shine - capone n noreaga

  • Hip Hop Will never die as long as Nas is alive and breathing

he's gotta new album dropping w/ damian marley

    potential never dies

nas is still here acknowledge it

  • Nas is the G.O.A.T. hip hop was better in the 80's and 90's. 1998 was the last classic year. from 1999 till now REAL hip hop (not HIP POP!! like the shit most of you dumb asses listen to) has been dead!!

  • nah its not dead, you just need to know where to look. real hip hop is everywhere.

  • So true...so true. from 1999-2003 i think there was like 10 classic albums in total released. but after 1999, you right, its been dead. There would never be another era like the 80's and 90's

  • @rc0609 2001 was a great year for hip hop too(stillmatic, blueprint)

  • @asderasder50 And that beef.

  • @rc0609 the chronic- dr dre? jeez alittle broad now r we..

  • Dat shit is dope

  • greatt video but aint first bit of a a real track?

  • yeah ..its Issac Hayes...ikes mood..

  • @hiphopculture100 Yeah that damn sure is from one of his songs.

  • That's how Hip Hop is supposed to sound.

  • Right haha

  • Nas' lyricism and style are untouched by most MC's these days. dude just gives me goosebumps wit his shit.

  • the first verse isnt a freestyle, its from memory lane

  • It's still a freestyle because it's an impromtu performance, to a random beat. do the knowledge...

  • nahhhh- nas is my favorite rapper, but freestyling is off the top rapping

  • Eh.. and that lack of knowledge on your part--and this generation of Hip Hop listeners in general, is why the culture is not as hot as it used to be...

    (Look up the word "impromptu")

  • how about you watch the documentary, freestyle the art of rhyme (which has founding MC's, current ones, and hip hop historians speaking of how freestyling is a spontaneous rhyme with no premeditated form or ideas), or the fact that i am a freestyle artist, a lyricist, and a hip hop enthusiast that knows probably (not bragging) 10x more than you about the genre. My lack of knowledge isn't existent. My knowledge of rapping is above the pinnacle

  • it is a freestyle. a lot of rappers start of with a verse then come of the top.

  • isnt the first part a cormega song???? i know cormega used that beat in "beautiful mind" but did nas copy him or something?

  • freestyling over a cormega beat isnt copying.. or anyone's beat for that matter.. if he spat lyrics from the cormega song the thats a different story

  • "My ganja left them motionless"

    Nas is my niggaaaa

  • i want one of them jay z riders to hear this and tell me that hov is better then nas

  • who cares who better thats wtf wrong with new york rap scene it wasnt like this in 95 the best year in hip hop

  • I miss the 90's

  • You know u sick when u can combine verses from different songs and make it fit perfectly.

  • NAS DROPPED OUT OF School in 8th grade...wow......................And Look how he turned out..Man...Nas is the Man...

    Nas is a Lyrical god

  • @yungac3 sometimes i question if education in school is really necceassay cos even fucking einstein didnt complete his education and i can drop a huge list of great minds that didnt finish school.

  • @yungac3 he went 2 i.S.204 Queens (bakk den J.H.S. 204) nd droppd out. he waZ n ma dAdz claSS. class of 1989.

  • @yungac3 and Nas is actually intelligent too

  • @yungac3 did he really?

  • @yungac3 It doesn't mean that dropping out of school is a good idea though. He stresses the importance of education.

  • @renesisrx8 Actually if you know and read online Nas educated himself at home.

  • @Szubakable @Szubakable Yes I know that. What I was trying to say is that an education is very important. Nas knows that and he emphasizes that in his music. An education is a must if you want to become a better person. It's something we should all fight for and get one way or another.

  • @renesisrx8 I misread your comment, but an education is the most important thing. You're going to need a education if you want a good job but Nas was still able to come out and be a top lyricist and dropped a classic album. His vocabulary is far better then most and he does lack the proper education but he was able to do something with himself and became rich.

  • @yungac3 9th grade

  • @yungac3 he did but he didnt stop studing,he actually studied really hard by himself and loved to read books like the bible
