@Rnt911 true but how real do you want it to get? No gloves? Pinching, eye gouging, hair pulling, hitting dangerous pressure points or weak points(spine, temple etc..). Theres a limit where IMO it can no longer be considered a sport. And do you really want no rules ? I dont, I would feel uncomfortable and bad for the guys fighting. And I think for us as a human race it would be kind of a step back allowing fights without rules to take place. Martial arts are so much more than just plain fighting.

he used to be very careful, he goes on the attack more now though, his karate style had gotten him used to just counter attacking and nothing else, so he has to train in the offensive part.

his style doesn't train you to just counter attack, it's just training to help you feel the right moment for attacking and I just felt like he was missing all the moments when his opponents weren't ready, and mostly countering just to be safe, now he's more willing to attack them at other moments too

he has 3 wins by (t)ko, the other 2 you're referring to are a "TKO (Cut)" and "TKO (Exhaustion)" which I wouldn't count as finishing someone.. and yes, to be fair, i believe he has somewhat evolved into a more interesting fighter, and hope he continues to grow on this trend. Wish he'd actually chase though.

Machida is amazing and taking nothing away from him but beating k-1 stars like greco and micheal mcdonald in mma fights where they are clueless on the ground isn't exactly impressive. Strategically machida is doing everything right, BUT its quite simple when these guys have no ground game at all. No disrespect to machida at all, just facts.

He's not that great. Machida was pretty inexperienced, and Greco wasn't great on the ground. I thought Lyoto's fights against Tito Ortiz and even BJ Penn were a lot closer.

Since he came to UFC I saw him as an evasive unorthodoxed stricker. This vid shows he has a little ground and pound nastiness in his game too.

But, in side controll he needs to use knees to the body more.

Lyoto would have a lot more trouble beating Gary O'Neil and Tsukamoto than Sam Greco in standup. Greco is old and being a 6-time champ in Austrailia is not something to brag about. The best Kyokushin guys participate in the world championships like Dimitrov, Tsukamoto, and Gary O'Neil
