Really great video. You have a nice layout of track. When I saw you winding up the engine, I wanted to say "Don't wind it too tight or it will break." Should have known that those old clockwork trains ran for ever. I had one back in 1946 that I'm sure would still run today.
I've posted a video responce, my version of your great little layout, it the same size but all O-27. I've since pulled it up to make an even smaller version, just the upper and inner loop, that will be dedicated to all the tinplate items, I will also be building a more traditional 3rail layout on the 3'4 x 4', trains will all Marx .
@KlunkerRider - Nice work. I like the paint colours especially the burnt orange. You have some nice old accessories,, they look great. Love the streamliners.
Another great video of this great little pike. Every time you change people or rotatate a few accessories it's like looking at a totally different layout. Wonder if you could shoot this through a sepia colored filter, would really give it an olde tyme feeling. Also enjoy the short two-minute videos. If you don't get the idea in two minutes, youre not gonna get it in twenty!!!
Great camera work. What are you using to elevate the tracks? I want to do something similar with a Marx setup. I know its an older item but I havent seen that yet.
Great - really enjoyed it. I collect early American toy trains and love the windups although I don't run them that much. I have an Issmayer from about 1895 that still works!
Thanks Jim. Yes, windups have a certain magic to them. I have a 1934 Hafner Century of Progress set that I hope to film soon. Don't have any American Flyer but I think their lithography is fantastic.
Wow! What a fine looking layout. You have really caught the essence on the Marx tin windup trains. The video is incredible and first class all the way.
The engine parked below is a repainted Commodore Vanderbilt with custom Canadian National tender. You can see it in my other movie. " Marx Trains - Get a Move on " I do have 2 red Mercurys I can feature in another movie with more scenery footage. The whole layout is only 3"4" x 4' Thanks for the interest! JP

@MrFrontrowkid Thanks, Glad you like the movies. One thing I like about these Marx Commodore Vanderbilts is that they are tough as heck. JP

Thanks, the tracks are on original metal Marx Track Elevators. They show up on ebay occasionally.
I have seen people make something similar using wood dowels and trim boards.

@GimblePike, thanks, I'll keep a look out for them. I am going to try using metal straps to fabricate something similar for a temporary solution.
