  • How can anyone dislike this?

  • @guilherme41romeiro because its not the "original version" like it says in the description (an outright lie)

this is some bullshat mid 90s unplugged album

  • @guilherme41romeiro just need any other music genre

  • @guilherme41romeiro disliked (trol faec)

  • I grew up in the northeast and of course picked up the usual prejudices against the South, without meaning to.

But it was this song that changed my attitude about the South. The sheer joy of this music just won my heart over. Few songs rock out the way this one does. It's for the ages. It really is an anthem. Music has the most amazing power.

God bless the band, past, present, and future.

  • That Is The Best School Song ^^ xD

  • My friend and I sing this at school! SWEET HOME ALABAMA DAWG!

  • Boooooo! America sux! This was a tragedy :(

  • this is johnnie vanant not ronnie!

  • @rosepetal108 - ofc all fans know that this aint the real version from the old lynyrd skynyrd but someone likes to take care of it with all his heart and even why he or they ain't that good as the old ones :) even i had my band but when we passed out after 2years someone got our name and everything what we had cuz they liked us so much :)

  • I quite like this version. It stays really true to the roots of this song. and yet has a slightly fresh tilt to it that makes you wanna keep listening to it. Definitely not the standarised cover once heard already so often. Worth listening to!

  • Best song everr

  • i love that song^^

  • Neil Young and Ronnie Van Zant were good friends - you'll Van Zant say about the governor - "boo, boo, boo."

  • Isn't Ricky Medlock an original member as a drummer?

  • Is it the version of the song Kid rocks sings in his song All summer long? Who is the artist of the original song Sweet home Alabama? Lynkyrd? kid Rock? Johnny Van Zant?

  • @twikie258 I think it's Lynyrd Skynyrd..

  • i am sure its lynyard skynyrd ;)

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd, of course. Kid rock did a cover of the song :)

  • @twikie258 skynyrd

  • @twikie258 The original song was recorded by Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1974. This acoustic version was recorded much later by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Only difference is this is Ronnie Van Zant's younger brother Johnny singing

  • @MultiBaldEagle Thanks for answerin me back dude or girl lol. It is a great song, I'll probably try to learn it to play it. See ya

  • not rare, this is johnny van zant singing, his younggest brother. not original. done many years later. sweethome alabama was done in acustic there is a rare recording done with them in muscle sholes recording studio and a version done from a pace where they jamed a place called the hell house aplace they rented to play their music and practice

  • Hey, I'm dutch and left-wing-liberal, but this is great!!!!!!!! Greetz,P.

  • @ditthumej i wish i live in alabama too =C

  • i beleive thats ronnies younger brother singing

  • This is every thing but an original vesion. Not even original band. Its not even Ronnie singing.

  • This is undoubtedly one of the greatest songs of all time. An instant classic, not to mention the musicianship. LONG LIVE LYNYRD SKYNYRD! ROLL TIDE, BEAT TEXAS!!!

  • this song is great and my family likes it to

  • It sounds country.

  • Lynyrd is the best, fuck the rest! :D

    *__*

  • @09ElSalvador

    led zeppelin,guns n roses,.....don't forget

  • But you know, if he wasn't an idiot we wouldn't have this fine song either.

  • well i hope Neil put it down... Well i hope Neil Young will remember.. The southern man don't need him around anyhow....

Legend... You normally hear Niel Young and Lynyrd Skynyrd biccer through their songs. Love it

  • Sounds very Cool

  • lets get this right. This is a studio version...unplugged..of the original version of the song Alabama...but not done by the original band.....Since hard to sing when you are dead. HOWEVER, I love it!

As for the songs political and ethical message,.....most people get it wrong.

It is trying to say, "you can love your roots and home, yet NOT agree with the rascism there"

Most people miss the sarcasm because it is in the backups and not the main vocals.

  • Thanks for the explanations

  • Sadly alot of the people in the band and alot of youngster's seam to think they are or this is the Original member's or The Lynyrd Skynyrd Gand. But the old fans know they are just pretender's/ hired hands

  • @Southernborn761 i am 14 and know this is johnny and the new boys. i think the world of new skynyrd because it must be hard for them to play those songs every night for the ones they lost. but nuthin is better than the original line up

  • @Southernborn761 i don't think so man, they're mostly friends and family of the original band(besides the new strat player), they're just carrying on the skynyrd name and playing great music like they love to do

  • @FreddyD94 Well i dont think any of these hired hands ever met Ronnie VanZant or anyone else until they did the tribute tour and they should have done it. They saw they could make some money with the skynyrd name. So they HI-JACKED the name and music and been cashing in every since. This new muzic is not even in the smae league as the original band. not even close. Leon , Billy even called it a TRIBUTE BAND. well they wanted it in the name. but a few was not having it. Do they sleep at night?

  • @Southernborn761 You do know that the lead singer is Johnny VanZant... Ronnie's little brohter right? And Billy Powel played Piano with the new band till his passing a few years ago, and gary Rossington still plays guitar with the band. No it aint original, but they didn't hiJack shit. Johnny wanted to carry on for us true blue Skynard Fans afetr the relaea of SmkeStack Lightning in 1991 was so successful. Get your facts tsregight Dude before you spouty off a buch of crap.

  • @Southernborn761 You do know that the lead singer is Johnny VanZant... Ronnie's little brother right? And Billy Powell played Piano with the new band till his passing a few years ago, and Gary Rossington still plays guitar with the band. No it ain't original, but they didn't hijack shit. Johnny wanted to carry on for us true blue Skynard Fans after the release of Smokestack Lightning in 1991 was so successful. Get your facts straight Dude before you spout off a bunch of crap.

  • @Southernborn761 This version of the band began with three original members. The bass player died in the 1990s leaving two. Recently, the piano player died and now only one original member remains.

  • @kelckeri Just how does this get them around the " rule of 3 " pretty simple to me and some other's. it was put in place for a reason. it state's there has to be 3/THREE original members in the band for them to tour under the skynyrd name. let them tour as the johnny vanzant bant or rossington band. learn how to write song's. so they dont have to buy them. wait they would not get the ticket sales under any other name. so they are going to ride Ronnie's band into the ground. for the love of money

  • @Southernborn761 with each death, the contractual agreement was changed by reducing the number by one so they could continue to tour under the original name. As long as surviving wives of the original band members agree to it, it's legal. We all know they are not the original band, but most feel it was close enough at the onset to still be a good band.

  • @kelckeri Well when people say that Ronnie VanZant was Lynyrd Skynyrd. they are very right. He was the front man and the OWNER of the name. When he left us. back on Oct 20 1977 the ownership of the name and the band. Went to his wife Judy at the time of his death. She is sole owner of the name and the band. Sure Ronnie had it in there that they got a even cut of the pie. But only 1 person can change the rule of 3! I wonder if there wives and kids are getting some of the cash from this CASH COW??

  • @Southernborn761 oh yea, the surviving wives, get millions, I heard that not long ago....

  • @rosepetal108 he had me fooled for a sec. also

  • @rosepetal108 Why do we have to apologize for ourselves to a bunch of yankee bitches? There is no more or less racism in Dixie than anywhere else in the world. That's just a stereotype.

  • @jsgehrke It is the the history. Thats why. My Great Great Great Grandaddy did own slaves. (Tobacco plantation in N. Carolina) While he did treat them so well they chose not to leave, it is still a shameful part of our history.

My Great Granddaddy (who still farmed that same tobacco farm) taught me the debt is eternal to our family. He taught me to always show respect both with words and actions.

Finally the best way to educate people is to talk about stereotypes. Goes both ways.

  • !!! ;)

  • GREAT!! that's brilliant

  • Das rockt :D

  • what.. This isnt the original band.

This is Johnny Van Zant singing, Ronnie's brother.

  • GREAT !!!!!!!!

  • genial!!!

  • great version of a great song!!

  • this would be a cool original version, if it wasnt from around 1994.

  • I like it sounds just like it would have at a concert back in the day.Brings back great memories

  • Its actually how its supposed to be if u listen to it on a radio and this

  • naa it can't be. it's becuase the recording, they are using a mic to record it, they arnt actualy hooking up there guitars to a mixing board or anything.

  • if you make this video but with pictures of lynard skynard instead it'llmake it more interesting

    but still great song

  • one of the best songs ever

  • dudeee this is sick

  • just because they love the south doesnt make them racist, the southern states are intergrated more than anywhere else in this country.
