As a resident on Saint John, NB I am sorry to see Dido, along with many other good players, the team has played way below expectations. Seeing Chris D. in the NHL is not going to happen soon, he did play great in the Junior tournament but his play and work ethic in games that I have seen needs to improve and be much more consistent, don't be in a hurry to see him in a Leafs uniform, he needs alot of work before being rushed to the NHL.

didomenico (spelling?), really impressed me at the wj, especially in the finals, he played real hard on the forecheck and was so strong. Like he held of three swedes at one point and passed it up in front to tavares, who forced a nice save from the gold medallist in diving.good draft by the leafs wherever we got him from.

On the Leafs: I think they should put Pogge as 2nd behind Toskala. I've only seen the game against Atlanta but I think he looked good. If Toronto wants to become a Cup contender in the relatively near future Burke should seriously consider trading... maybe... Kaberle? for draft picks and build from scratch.

With a day gone and somewhat more objective thoughts on the gold medal game I must say it was a crappy game by Sweden. 1-0; unnecessary minor taken by Backlund and poor play in front of our own goal, 2-0; Rundblad goes for a stick instead of standing in Espositos way, 3-0; Once again, Backlund takes an unnecessary penalty, good shot by Hodgson.

We had several chances in PP but passed the puck to slow and wouldn't shoot.

Maybe you say that because we drafted Rask in the first round and we drafted Pogge in the third round, but it still remains to be seen who's better. Don't forget that we stole Pogge, and who would have thought that a 3rd rounder would take home a gold medal at the world juniors. He was also WHL goalie of the year and MVP.

True, but he made 35 saves in the gold medal game, shutting out the Russians. He was also tournament MVP, something that no one else on that dominant Team Canada club could take home besides him.

He's gonna be our future. I wouldn't be surprised if we trade Toskala between now and the start of next season and give Pogge the #1 position. And he's a hungry Canadian kid too, so he'll truly understand the signifigance of being the #1 guy in Toronto.

I don't like to make any predictions on draft picks. The Leafs are looking to have a 'same old, same old' kinda year. Not quite good enough to make the playoffs, not quite bad enough to get a decent draft pick.

I was not surprised that McCabe got booed last night. He did not deserve it. He left Toronto frustrated at the fans, media and team. I wouldn't be surprised if Sundin gets the same shabby treatment in Feb.

I'd like to see DiDo with the Marlies soon. I think we need to take baby steps with him, and not rush him into the NHL too quickly. Bringing him up to the Marlies will be a good starting spot, see how he does there before we even think about bringing him up to the big club. :)

Im wondering why no NHL team stocks up their roster with the best free agents by giving the minimun salary and compensating for their "lost money" a la sponsor deals the players have independant from their nhl teams.

For example: Crosby's contract counts for 400K under the cap for pittsburgh

crosby gets compensated the other 9.6 mill from Reebok who get that money from pittsburgh
