  • I have a question about windows.

Is it true that you can only use a windows installation disk 3 times?

And if thats true, how can you reactivate it?

  • @TheNewbpowner123 you can install a windows disc as many times as you want but you can only use the verification code 1s it will tell you to verify you windows within 30 days depending what version of windows you got this can either disable features on you pc like your screen saver and background or lock you out of your computer im not shure about other vershions but windows xp locks you out and windows 7 dissables features

  • @TheNewbpowner123 That is not true. I used my Windows installation disk at least 5 times lol.

  • use pc mover to install programs and everything just how u had it i know it cost money but i am looking for a crack for it but that is the best way i know u will be able 2 get it right back the way u had it thats a for sure thing

  • this is why i hate expert village:

you can not just copy and paste the program folder , and then copy/paste it back

1: all files for a program is not just located in the program files folder

2: all software writes an entry in the windows registry, wich means that copy/paste backup-method is useless

3: some "expert village" instructors really sucks!

  • How do you restore your software after a system recovery. I have several programs/ expensive ones, but I need to recover the pc.

  • lol he plays runescape

  • DAve today i am going to teach you how to be a fag YOU FACKING FAIL

  • Someone's been playing runescape...

  • i have WD to back up my files on my laptop, but when i back up all of my files, can i put them in a different PC? cuz im getting a new PC

  • Hey Dave I can most certainly appreciate your posting of that video to Youtube but my goodness all you did was make yourself look like a complete idiot, copying and pasting?? dont you know you have to either Ghost it or create an image file?? Copying and Pasting doesn't always work a file might be set for read only and be blocked from copying and if your sleeping while you do your copying your going to awake to a computer message indicating error or that the transfer could not be completed.

  • Thanks for the video, very helpful.

When I've backed up my program files, if the computer has to be recovered, how can I reinstall my programs (such as anti-spayware, different media players and so on) using that backup? Is there a file in each program folder that can be used to reinstall them?

Your helpful videos and any help you can give on my question are much appreciated.

  • I wouldn't recommenced backing up your program files as you can just re-install them if you decided to re-install windows for example. Take a note of the software you had installed on the original hard drive so you don't forget any software and either save the 'setup.exe' file of each of the programs which is generally the installation file. Or just download the install files off the internet and re-install. Hope this helps ;)

  • Yeah, that does help. Thanks!

  • @berther88 Im not quite sure if it would work or not but what you could do is back up the program you want by going to program files and looking for the name of the folder thats related to that program. this would usually contain all the necessary files needed to make the program run. all you would have to do is copy that folder and paste that into your external HDD. that way you can just put it into your computer HDD and create a shortcut for the program and it should work without any problems

  • @berther88 You have to actually re-install the programs, the preferences will be kept with some programs, but they will not run if you just copy the files over in a clean install of windows. They need to be added to the windows registry. (this happens automatically when installing a program via an install wizard)
